Charlie’s Car Repair

I am new in town and so I desperately needed a good repair shop that wasn’t going to take me for a ride. I got a couple estimates to fix my car kept getting told I needed to replace a bunch of stuff. And it was going to take multiple hours to fix. I took it over to Charlies and Sam the owner told me straight up what needed to be done. Only my wheel hub needed to be replaced and my brake rotors turned. 2 hours and I was out of there and for about 500 less than what the other guys wanted to charge me. These people have my business for life.

I took my pickup to Charlie’s auto repair on Tuesday and sure enough, the transmission was shot (it was doing scary things). I went when they opened and waited, and they looked at it even though it was the day after a holiday weekend, with customers who had appointments already in for repair. They gave an estimate to rebuild the transmission which was very reasonable, and said it could be a week. Instead they managed to get it done in three days (Saved me on rental costs). They saved me well over a thousand dollars by rebuilding it, and even put in a new cellanoid (I can’t spell it) as part of that. I have a year guarantee. I am always pleased with their service, knowing I am female and not going to be ripped off because I don’t understand auto mechanics. BY THE WAY, THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT «CHARLIE’S» IMPORT AUTO NOT «CHARLESTON» AUTO REPAIR which is about 20 yards away in what looks like the same building.

My 2004 Jaguar x type had a coolant leak，it’s just one of the tube that needs to be replaced. Another mechanic quoted me $ 250 to fix it. They got it fixed for less than $ 120. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely bring back more business for you guys and referring other friends who have car problems.

I came to charlies due to the reviews from Unilocal.I was on vacation from Indiana. We had a muffler issue that happened somewhere along the drive from northwest Indiana to Las Vegas. I called first thing in the morning the next day I got here. I told them my issue they said come right in they were going to give me a quote. I showed up told them my issue (they remembered my phone call) my Subaru was up on a rack in two seconds, I had a cracked exhaust pipe they said 65 bucks to fix it and bam I was out of there in less then 45 minutes. I even had credit card issues and they took my wife’s cc over the phone and we’re not even worried about payment. (they said cc issues happen all the time in vegas) I did not get a run around about needing this and that and I thought 65 bucks was a fair price. They have a labor charge price clearly posted on the office which is pretty average at 35 bucks. The shop personal were clean with matching uniforms and a variety of nationalities. There was even an older guy working there that used an electric wheel chair to get around. (Idk if he was the owner) The business itself is on a main street right off of I 15, they take up basically a small strip mall, I counted at least 4 buildings. The inside of the garages were cluttered, the office is small and a little on the dirty side. I definitely seen cleaner shops. I saw them working working on motorcycles, 4 wheel atvs, cars, trucks. I saw a garage with classic cars getting worked on as well. It looks like they do pretty much everything except major body work. Yes I would recommend them, yes I would go back. Also I saw repeat local customers several of them with different cars needing work. They even were going to give a guy a ride back to his house which was awesome they really didn’t have to do that you know. The shop looks a little rough but all in all they were pretty decent.

Took my car here and immediately felt confident. Needed to get my water pump and a couple of plastic fittings replaced. They suggested metal fittings and I agreed. They offered to drive me home and back when repairs were done. Finished repairs and car was working fine. Good mechanic shop. Just make sure that you read the sign and do not go to charleston auto repair next door. Sam had to correct their mistake which is detailed on a review that I made for them. Thanks Charlie’s

I have been a customer of Charlie’s import auto service since 2002(exclusively). Sam, as well as being a knowledgeable and trustworthy mechanic, has become my good friend as well (he and his wife Jacky). I am one of the most frugal people you will ever meet, however. I actually enjoy bringing my vehicle to Charlie’s for servicing because I know that they are good. honest people, running a «small» business, which I am happy to support. They do business the right way!

I looked for auto repair to change my breaks pads on my vw eos got 2 quotes for over 200 $ this guy did my breaks for cheaper was really nice and fix it fast and good very recommend

You doubled the price of my A/​C recharge that you quoted me why?
So it goes like this. I call in and talk to Lenny, a not so friendly older gentleman on the phone and explain my issue. Its an Acura that the freon was accidentally released out of during the changing of some valve cover gaskets. I knew the car just needed to be recharged and then it would be good to go. His response was well i dont know how much freon would be needed but chances are you would be looking at $ 65-​$ 70. I said no problem since the going rate is from $ 50 – 80 depending where you go so the car went to the shop the very next day.
Upon arrival i talked to Lenny, and said we spoke yesterday and he remembered me so i thought great we are on the same page. Let me sow you where the freon was released from and you can take it from there. He gave me a quote $ 160, and i said whatever the hell for. And the response was well i said i didnt know how much freon the car needed. They tacked on another $ 3 for an o ring that didnt need to be replaced and $ 15 for the all of 3 minutes it took to install it UNBELIEVABLE!

I obviously tried to have words with the guy but hes got you buy the nuts as its 110 degrees out and your car needs to be fixed so your not gonna dye of heat stroke driving to work. I do all my own work on my cars except the items that i do not have the proper tools to do like properly charge the AC system, and this is why i do my own work for crooked dishonest mechanics like this.

Came in for a AC check and you don’t even have a lobby to sit in (it was locked)? Yes, please, I would love to stand in 110° for two hours. Bounced out of this mickey mouse operation immediately.
Careful reading other reviews. looks like a few have been getting filtered as spam. aka reviews written by someone on behalf of the company. Super shady.

I had less than 24 hours until I was going to be headed out on a road trip and was stressing out that I had just found out the brake master cylinder was leaking horribly. These guys were quick, had the part ordered and my car fixed the same day.
While I was on my way back to the shop once the part was ordered my car suddenly sounded awful, while it was in the shop I was told the weld on the exhaust pipe broke and for only $ 30 they welded it right away and my car was all set for its road trip with plenty of time to pack and run a few errands before leaving town!
These guys are straight forward and get the job done.
