At Buffalo Exchange, you can sell men’s and women’s clothing and accessories for cash or trade (in-​store credit) on the spot. We’re always buying the best of all seasons, including current trends, designer, vintage and one-​of-​a-​kind items.

To sell your clothes, simply bring in your freshly laundered, good condition items anytime we’re open. Feel free to call ahead and see what your neighborhood store is specifically in need of. For items we’re able to resell, you’ll receive cash or trade immediately (your choice!)!

Buffalo Exchange is a sustainable business that works to protect the environment by reusing and recycling clothing. You can give clothing a second life and avoid contributing to the demand and waste of clothing pollution by shopping our resale stores. You can also participate in one of our many environmental programs and events. Our Tokens for Bags® program, for example, offers shoppers a token in place of a bag which they can donate to one of three local charities. For each token Buffalo Exchange donates five cents to that charity. Since 1994, we’ve raised over $ 627,000 for thousands of local nonprofit organizations.

History

Established in 1974.

Kerstin & Spencer Block opened the first Buffalo Exchange in Tucson, Arizona on Jan 15, 1974 in a 450 square foot space with clothing racks made of old bicycle rims. Kerstin, who loved thrift stores and swap meets, decided Buffalo Exchange would be a unique kind of clothing store where customers could buy, sell, and trade used clothing. The store would preserve the adventure and affordability of thrift shopping, but without all the hassles. In the forty plus years since, Buffalo Exchange has blossomed into 48 stores in 17 states. Buffalo Exchange continues to be run by Kerstin and her daughter Rebecca, and is still headquartered in Tucson.

Kerstin, originally from Sweden, and her husband Spencer, started the company in 1974 in Tucson, Arizona. The company is privately owned and headquarters remain in Tucson. Kerstin, and her daughter Rebecca, continue to own and run Buffalo Exchange today with the same values that were instilled in the organization from the start. At the heart of everything they do are the basic principles of how to fairly treat fellow human beings, customers and employees alike.

I used to come here and loved it but it seems that its gone down hill since I last visited. at least they have a really friendly staff and I did find a few cute things.

I’m used to the Buffalo exchanges in San Diego, and it might just be the area but I felt like over there opposed to here they have a lot more high end finds.
We didn’t really scope out the clothing too much because it was hot and we were mostly looking for bags or sunglasses. They did have a wide variety of clothing from what we could see but the bags, shoes, jewelry and sunglasses weren’t anything special.
Nothing really caught our eyes and they didn’t really have much higher end, or designer finds. I think I saw one or two pairs of Ray Bands but that was it.
We ended up buying two pairs of just regular rack sunglasses at $ 9.95 each. They were cute but we probably could of found them for cheaper than ten dollars each at like Charlotte Russe or something.
The one thing I did really like was instead of plastic bags they give you a chip worth 5 cents at check out and you get to pick which charity you would like to donate it to.

I’ve never really shopped at a thrift or second hand shop till i walked into Buffalo, and i found it to be fun and different if your looking for an eclectic piece or funky addition to your closet. If your a detailed shopper who wants to see each piece on the rack, you can spend hours here as they have a little bit of everything. Far more women’s offerings than men’s but that’s to be expected. The condition of most clothing i have found to be pretty good, with pricing varying a bit. Like anywhere, the pricing is good for some but questionable for others as you feel almost as if you can get the same or better at a big box store. But do not let that stop you from digging in and finding that deal on that hard to find piece you never knew you needed. To date my best finds were a brand new Hugo Boss dress shirt in my size and tailor cut even for $ 20, and a pair of board shorts i wear at least 4 times a week in training for $ 10. Do check it out if your in the area, or even if your bored one day and not sure what to do…

This place is the worst. I went in there with all designer suits prada, coach, waltham, and this lady didn’t even look at my stuff! She picked up the prada that I know how to authenticate and had authenticated already and another lady walked over, said, «this looks like the same one from earlier.» Looked at it like a fake, and told me they weren’t buying anything. I had looked over the racks and there was nothing but garbage. They don’t know good stuff from polished turds.

I must say I have been to several Buffalo Exchanges mostly in California. This by far is my favorite store. It’s pretty sad all these negative reviews, because I have only awesome experiences here. The clothing is affordable and stylish and the staff is super friendly. Keep it up!

I don’t get all the bad reviews for this place. They’re a used clothing store, and they sell their items for $ 15 – 25 on average, what would you expect? Clothing and jewelry have a pretty bad resale value and once you buy an item, whether you wore it or not, guess what? It’s used! Also, don’t bring your garbage clothes that you’ve worn for years. Customers only will buy preowned items if it’s still in newer or good condition and that’s all the store is going to want to buy from you
I wish I had known about this place all these years! I’ve always just donated all my stuff to Goodwill, even my newer or real nice stuff! I like that I can basically trade in clothing that I’m tired of or can’t wear anymore for something different that I actually will wear!
When you walk in, there’s a sell counter to the right of the door and a buy counter to the left. Just walk up to the sell counter and hand them your goods. The associate will then look through everything 1 piece at a time and select items they think will sell in their store. Then you can choose from either cash or store credit. Everything is based on what they will price the item at in the store. If you choose cash you’ll receive 30% of the price, but you’ll get 50% (nearly double) if you choose store credit.
What will they buy? Basically anything in current season (i.e.: shorts for summer or coats/​pants in winter) that’s of a popular brand (think Nike, J Crew, Polo, Lacoste, Levis, True Religion, Under Armour, Coach, Gap, Banana, etc). Of course, make sure it’s in like new or lightly used condition!
Either way you choose, proceed to the buy counter afterwards to cash out. If you take cash, they’ll pay you on the spot. If you choose store credit, you can either choose to receive a gift card or select items that you’d like to purchase. It’s basically like a trade! I’d highly recommend the store credit option because your money will go a lot further, especially if there’s an outfit you’ve been looking for!

was pretty disappointed when I went in with a TON of clothes and the woman barely looked at any of it and said not even five minutes later that they couldn’t take anything off my hands. I had a lot of nice stuff, good condition, some name brands, and clothes from all seasons. So it was a little frustrating to have hauled it all into the car, drive downtown, park and try not to get hit by oncoming traffic, lug all of it into the store, only to be turned away with but a glance through the clear plastic bin I brought in and not even an attempt to open the bag that was tied up and had several pairs of pants and jeans in it. Not cool. Even if you didn’t end up wanting anything at least make it seem like you attempted to find something you could take.

I knew it was time to leave the store when I saw bugs on a sweater in the women’s section. You know, I had been warned about this place being unethical in the way they run thier business, but I didn’t expect a health hazard.

This place was great. We’ve never been to a Buffalo Exchange before, and I’m not even sure what sparked the interest — but on Valentine’s day, we found ourselves here.
The staff was super friendly! They all greeted us as we entered the shop, and then had a conversation regarding whether or not it was appropriate to welcome customers with a ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ because it can be a sad and hurtful day for some. We ensured them that we were having quite a happy day, and they were welcome to wish us one :)
The store is immaculately organized, easy to figure out their system, which is nice. There’s nothing worse than being unsure what it is that you’re actually looking through. they had a fantastic selection of men’s clothing, which was refreshing, because oftentimes you find an abundance of women’s and the men’s can fit in a Rubbermaid bin (think Forever 21). My husband was climbing through rack on rack on rack of clothes — it was pretty great.
Along with apparel, they have a great shoe offering, as well as accessories — and not all are traded in. There were brand new HUF socks and some great knick knacks and necklaces. It was adorable. I loved the vintage vibe — it was perfect for the Arts District. I also adored how the staff was dressed — yeah, I know — but they all had a unique style that was completely different from the other, but they owned it, and it made you feel like you could own your style, too. Was pretty sweet.
We didn’t end up making a purchase today, but we’ll definitely be back to check out the goods. They had a pair of Allen Edmonds for $ 42! Whaaaaa?

WORST shopping experience I’ve ever had !!!
So I came here on 1−28−16 to sell some clothes. Yes they give you lowball (almost insulting) offers on designer clothing and I had designer NEW VINTAGE clothing that they offered nothing for. Oh well, that isn’t why I’m angry. When I sold a few other things, I gave my drivers license to a black female with a blonde shaved head (sorry I don’t remember her name & NO I’M NOT PREJUDICE,) & she told me to go to the counter across from her to collect my cash. I proceeded to shop, I picked out a few things and I gave them to my boyfriend to go buy AND collect our cash while I went outside. Well, my boyfriend misunderstood me so he did not collect our money. When we arrived to our hotel room, I realized that I left my drivers license. I called immediately, and they said they didn’t have it but they would call me if they found it. Well, I showed up on 2−9−15 and I asked them if they found it yet, also if I could return a pair of shoes I JUST bought because the size was not marked correctly, and lastly to collect our money we did not get on our first visit. The manager (tall male with glasses) told me there’s nothing he could do about the shoes because I took the tag off (THINKING they were size 9’s!), and they don’t have my drivers license, and lastly I can only get store credit because I did not collect my money the FIRST day. Um, WHAT ??? Talk about a jacked up store policy DESIGNED to screw their customers!!! I asked him if they had CAMERAS because it would PROVE that the black female took my ID card and DID NOT hand it back to me !!! He said they do not have cameras. Of course they don’t!!! He and a few other female employees insisted that I lost it, and that he would ONLY give us store credit & wouldn’t even BUY the shoes back that I JUST bought from their store!!! Oh & then they threatened to call the police on us because we call them on their bull — - ??? I couldn’t even believe my ears. I’ve never ever encountered store employees that were so petty, unapologetic, & careless !!! My friends & I have bought hundreds worth of merchandise from this store & they could care LESS about their customers !!! They lost a loyal customer forever & I will for sure tell EVERYONE I know about how I was treated here !!! And yes, I believe they stole my ID card & SOLD IT !! What do I think of my store credit from buffalo exchange??? Ask my trash can

Been here twice.
I have walked out both times with things I probably don’t need.
Prices are a bit steep but I always find cool things at any B.E. location.
Parking not a problem in this part of town.
I always stop in when I’m in town and dedicating a day to thrift for vintage.
Tons of things to look at and I love that they don’t give bags and you can donate the money in a shape of a paper coin and drop it in the organization of your choice. I always put my coin in to save animals.
If you’re in the city and love thrifting I would say stop in.

It was my full intent to go to Fruition LV on this trip. Not only to score some nice gear, but to see Sammy Jo and ‘nem…but I didn’t make it.
A reviewer mentioned that you could grab some nice stuff here at BE, and be way ahead of the game, as opposed to the more pricey stuff at Fruition.
I’ve been to consignment shops before and this one was reminiscent of NVISION down in Cincinnati (Northside). In fact I think NVISION is nicer than BE, mainly because they had more vintage and classy items, whereas BE leaned more towards trendy stuff.
I did pick up a really fly True Religion bomber, that still had the original tags on it. It was discounted damn near 85%. I «hit a lick» on that one.
As with all things, it’s pretty much about personal taste and style at a consignment shop. I’m squeamish about consignment… but I got a hella deal this time.
BE…meh…it’s just okay — to me, at least.

As far as your consignment or buy it from you style thrift store, Buffalo Exchange is a goodie.
Depending on what you’re looking for, a blouse, belt, high heels, you will have a decent selection. I am fine with buying second hand, and it seems most of Buffalo Exchange has items that are in good to new shape.

I can see that this place would be really fun to shop at if you were say in your 20s or early 30s, to go out for the night.
There were a lot of clothes, and everything was in decent shape. A lot of shoes of all types as well. Those tended to be a bit more worn out, but only some of them. I liked that the women’s clothes and shoes were on one side of the store, while the men’s was on the other. The place was really clean, and the clothes were separated nicely by size and type.
My husband remembers shopping at the Buffalo Exchange many years ago. It is a fun, trendy albeit youn place. I found some cute flats that would go with my 60s look. They were brand new, so that was a plus.
When paying for my shoes, we were told that this store is ‘green’. They do not give you any bags for your purchases. Instead, they donate what money they would have spent on bags to three charities. I love this! I use my own bags anyway when I do my grocery shopping, and generally refuse a bag when getting one or two items anyway. She gave us this paper ‘coin’ to insert into one of three slots. Each one represented a different charity, along with their description. So upon leaving the store, we were able to choose the charity we wanted for our donation. What a great idea.

«I wanna be like the cool kids?»
I’ve sold clothes here, I’ve bought clothes and every time it’s been super easy and comfortable. I can understand why a lot of people wouldn’t enjoy this place, some of the workers here can be smug and can give «judgy eyes» when you walk up to the counter with your selections. Just remember you’re dealing with college students and thirty something’s that are still «figuring it out». Now smile and buy that retro windbreaker.
This is a great place to stock up on t-​shirts, shoes, and random clothing accessories; this is also a great spot for the lover of funky hats and or interesting headgear. Just a note, I would stay away from the pants here, I don’t know why, but most of the pants cost about as much as they do at larger retail stores. As far as help goes, my customer service experience was great, the employees were conversational and very helpful.
PRO TIP: Halloween is right around the corner and Buffalo Exchange has great stuff for weird costumes ideas or costume accessories.

Love this store! I came in having low expectations because I have been to consignment stores and have been judged on my apperance which impacted the sale of my clothing. I felt very comfortable here and the girls working were super sweet, didn’t feel judged at all and was pleasantly surprised by the amount I was able to have in trade. I was also surprised by the cool ‘give back’ token that they give you if you bring in your own bag instead of using one of theirs. You then place the $ 5 token in a slot for a local non profit. Nice to see them thinking about the community.
They do take their time with looking through your items and ringing up your purchases so make sure to come with plenty of time to spare.

Good luck having any of your stuff bought. I recently moved and brought in a ton of my brand new/​gently used clothing and accessories (all of which were current and in season) and was not able to sell any of it. A lot of my items they didn’t even open up to look at! The girl in front of me brought in old tattered clothing which the employees were all over. I don’t understand the criteria at all for what is bought and what is not. I did add a star though because the girls behind the counter who went through my items were very friendly and made the effort to socialize.

This location is a definite upgrade since they relocated from the UNLV area– bigger store, better selection, attractive storefront. The prices even seemed more reasonable, too. Found several Banana Republic, Michael Kors, Anne Klein, Jeffrey Cambell etc type brands– some with original tags still on them. Appreciated that they had a good amount of work-​appropriate items; I’m used to their stock being limited to painfully casual or too-​kooky-​to-​pull-​off-​in-​a-​professional-​setting.
Fourth star is for Clarice– she’s a fashionable pixie of an employee, was friendly and helpful throughout my visit, in that genuine way that isn’t found often in Vegas.

Saturday shopping on Main Street downtown LV in the Arts District. So glad they moved their store from the Maryland Pkwy location.
Lots of great vintage clothes, jewelry, shoes and nick knacks to choose from. You can also exchange your own items new or used for an in store credit or cash. Don’t expect a lot of $ for your Designer items, cause you will be disappointed! Just take the in-​store credit, better return on your exchange.
But hey, there’s lots of cool stuff to browse through!

I bought a pair of really cute flat-​ballet shoes that where brand new and less than 16.00! Super sexy and comfy. Did I need them? You bet I did, no more High Heel shopping for awhile.

Big new location! Lots of stuff to sort through. However the old location had a lot more natural light w all the windows. This location while a lot bigger, only has windows in the front. So the lighting in the back is a bit hard to see for me and my astigmatism.
I noticed there’s a lot of new w tags clothes mixed in. I don’t know if Buffalo is putting in new clothes out or people selling brand new clothes. Wasteland has a lot of new clothes but they are in their separate section.
There a tiny real vintage section all the way in the back.
I also find it hilarious that people leave bad reviews for consignment shops when they don’t buy your stuff. Like the annoying douche bag that came in after us that got all mad we didn’t hold the door open for him.
