History

Established in 1959.

Opened in 1959 by the founder Warren Stephens who gained a reputation for quality and honesty while working at Sunland Motors (the local dealership). A true innovator, Warren developed many tools and techniques that helped his customer gain a higher level of reliability in the desert heat. These techniques were perfected by Warren and imitated by others during his many years of off-​road racing. Winning numerous races including the iconic Mint 400, Baja 500 and the Baja 1000. The business began to see a rapid Growth. Warren’s reputation for quality and attention to detail was bringing contracts to assemble the Bruce Meyer’s Manx several at a time. Others needed Warren’s expertise for their own off-​road car. This required more building space and larger parking. Soon after Beetle Barn moved to their newly constructed location in the north-​east with 3 acres of space to allow for continued growth.

Meet the Manager

Justin S.

Manager

Started working as a helper to his father, Warren Stephens in 1979. Justin was eager to learn anything he could about Volkswagens and the skills needed to service them. His main duties at the young age of 8 consisted of mopping the floors, cleaning and putting away tools. Soon though he learned; machining, welding, engine building, suspension and a general understanding of the particular engineering that went into the Volkswagen, making it one of the most popular cars in the world. After years of apprenticing under Warren, Justin began to take over the responsibilities of management and took control of Beetle Barn in 1998. Since that time Beetle Barn has involved itself in drag racing, off-​road racing and anything related to Volkswagen. Justin loves the work of servicing Volkswagens and has developed many friendships with customers that have spanned over three decades. If you ask him why he does what he does, he will tell you, «I love serving people who love Volkswagens.
