There’s one employee there I like. The rest have been rude and dismissive. I have never entered the store and actually been greeted as a customer, literally ever.
To top it of, one of the new owners is a pothead and doesn’t care who knows it. The last two times I went down to the store to pick up art supplies, all I heard was how great his «dank kush» is (mind you this was at like 1 in the afternoon), and how he was going to get so blazed when he got off work. Went in last night and the store smelled like someone had died inside. After about 20 minutes of me standing around at the register to purchase some paints, I finally had to grab another customer who I thought was an employee because he was the only person who had said hello, who then went and found the manager on duty. It was the younger of the new owners.
I complained to the manager the store smelled terrible, and he just shrugged. I asked «You really don’t care that someone could call the police and get all of your customers arrested on possession because you can literally smell it on them?» He just laughed and said «Yeah they are probably all blazed.»
Used to go there all the time out of friendship, but they lost me as a customer because you don’t get to let your business smell like a drug den and actually keep customers. Have some self respect.

Cute little comic shop near a restaurant I was having brunch at. Didn’t even know there was a store on this side of town and was pleasantly surprised by the selection of comics. They also had an area where you could use the tables to play Magic or D & D. Walked put with a couple of comics, figurines and will return to purchase a bust of storm.

Both times I went to Avatar Comics, I was met by a inattentive and somewhat rude cashier. None of the singles were marked in prices of any kind and was met with groans every time I had to ask the value of cards.

When I first moved back to Vegas, I was eager to find and test out the comic book shops here, since I had no previous experience with any. The two shops I tried were Maximum Comics first, then Avatar Comics and Games.
As far as Maximum Comics goes, they were great. Very helpful hands, small shop, very friendly staff, eager to help and I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Avatar Comics, however, was not nearly as much so. Walking into Avatar Comics and Games, the first thing I noticed was their excellent «$ 1» comic section, which has a surprising vast amount of decent quality comics, many that I wanted. My first few visits were directed solely to this section. I grab about twenty comics or so, and go to the counter. I wait what must have been five minutes before being helped to purchase my items. My first visit was not the only time I was forced to wait much longer than I should have. After the man at the counter struggled to find the comics in his POS for a few minutes (I knew he was struggling because he apologized for it) he rings me up for an amount that far exceeds the $ 20 margin I should be paying for the amount of comics. The price he told me was around $ 80 or so, and I was obviously shocked. I told him that I thought they were a dollar, unless I misread his sign. He realizes, and then apologizes. I guess he didn’t see me standing at the DOLLAR comic section for the twenty minutes I was there. I purchased my comics, and signed up for a pull box, eager to put all the comics I was interested in on it, and come back.
My next visit, I grabbed a similar amount of comics from the dollar section. I brought them up to the counter, and was helped by a young female after waiting a few minutes. I put my twenty or so comics on the counter, and I notice the comic book boxes that hold comics. I’m just starting to collect, so I figure it’s a good idea to get one. I take one cardboard piece to purchase. The young lady struggles at the POS worse than the first man did. She joked about not being too familiar with the POS, and I humor her by asking how often she works it. She mentions that she works only once a week, so I’m a little more forgiving about the struggle. She finally tells me the amount, and once again it’s for four times the amount I should be paying. I tell her they’re from the dollar section, and she fixes the problem.
Later on at home, after assembling the cardboard piece I bought, I realize it doesn’t really store comics at all. It was just a card board tray. I thought I bought the wrong piece, and figured I’d ask them next time I go in.
Coming back again, I can’t wait to get the comics from my pull box. Everything that I asked for was there. I decide to also browse for something special. So I find a «Carnage» comic with a special cover, priced for $ 8 on the back. Why not? I put that on the counter, and I look at the section with card board comic book holders, and I realize that what I bought was only the top piece of a two piece set. I say to the clerk, who is the man who helped me the very first time «Last time I came in a bought a cardboard box holder from a lady and only got one piece, I had no idea there was two.» Now, keep in mind, this was only a statement to let him know that his employee needs a little supervision before being left at the counter alone. What does he do? He counts looks through the boxes, counting them, and says «Well I have an even number of tops and bottoms, so I don’t know what you want me to do.»
I was kind of shocked. I didn’t imply whatsoever that I wanted a new box, I was bring to mind that his employee needs a little help. I shrug it off and decide to just finish the transaction. Once again, they ring me up for the wrong amount. It comes out to around $ 50, whereas it should have been around $ 30. I bring it to his attention, and he realizes he didn’t put the price in correctly based off of the «Carnage» comic. It’s not like it doesn’t have a big number «$ 8» on the back or anything.
In conclusion, each and every visit I made to Avatar Comics and Games was met with little customer service. Whatever I did receive was terrible and under-​qualified. Who I assume to be the shop owner or manager, seeing as he is the one I met with the most and was always at the store, doesn’t understand his own POS, how to treat his customers unless he’s playing games with them while ignoring the counter, and doesn’t understand how to train employees. I will gladly go to the other side of Vegas for a decent comic and game store.
If the shop owner/​manager is reading this, you can deactivate my pull box. I’m going to be at the Maximum a Comics shop on Fort Apache from now on.

Went just to look around. Didnt see no one in store. A guy at the counter didnt even acknowledge me. When ask for a specific comic he just point. Not cool for being a comic book store no customer service. Will not be coming back. I rather drive out of state to get better service

As a comic collector I always look for silver and bronze age books in good condition to add to my collection. When I walked in to this store I was greeted with «What you looking for» from a guy sitting playing games at a table. I told him older comics and he advised me they were on the rack and the wall. The selection was minimal and the grading they gave was very poorly done and very over graded. I happened to find a book that I was interested in buying, and when I asked to have the book removed from the plastic so I could look at it I was told that the book has been graded by the owner and he’s not allowed to take them out. When I asked how can I buy a book without seeing it his reply was «Don’t buy it, we make our money on gaming» Well i’m glad you make money on gaming, because you’ll never see me again that’s for sure.

Much like the name, this spot is half comics and half gaming materials– specifically tabletop games, with a focus on Warhammer (whatever that is). They had several figurines, painting kits for said figurines, and multi-​sided die sets, but I just came for the comics.
I was mostly browsing but wanted to find a particular comic series I had seen at another shop– with minimal details, the staff were able to figure out what I was referring to (Grimm Fairy Tales, Tales of Oz series), locate it in store, and even suggest several similar artists and comic series (Robyn Hood and Tales of Wonderland, if you care). Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and very passionate about comics– infectiously so. Even though they did not have what I was looking for, they offered to call their sister store to check stock or even to look into placing an order for me. I’ll be back for the incredible customer service.
NOTE: they have several table-​gaming stations set up and signage at the door indicates that they regularly have on-​site gaming events.

All I wanted was two comics. I called ahead to see if they had one of them, they said yes. When I got there I was greeted by no one. Found the comic with relative ease, then waited at the counter for 15 minutes, nobody even looked over. At 20 minutes a man finally walked over and asked if I was ready to checkout. I asked if he had the other comic I wanted in stock somewhere and he said «If you didn’t see it we don’t have it.» which made me want to leave immediately. I bought my one comic, left and I won’t be going back.

Had a bad experience here with a particular employee. He was a total jerk off and made me wait forever to buy a booster. A lady named Bridget sells mtg cards here and she carries a lot and probably has what you need! She’s very nice & worth your business so that’s the only plus side to this store. Maybe I just walked in at the wrong time but I still don’t feel like that justifies the poor customer service I received.

I first visited Avatar after calling to see if somehow they had any Marvel Dice Masters items of any sort (which are currently very hard to find). Kevin answered and very kindly informed me that they had a decent stock of boosters, so I said I would head over.
Within 20 minutes I was greeted by him in the nicely laid out, decently sized shop, and was able to purchase a full gravity feed box (60 boosters) as well as a play mat, both AT MSRP, not at the 25−100% markup that a few other shops in town are taking advantage of.
In trying to find another item, I called on Tuesday and was advised to call back today or Friday, as that is when shipments happen. After calling today, I was given an honest, straightforward answer that he is not expecting some, but would happily put me on a waitlist and call when they do come in. Not only that, but Kevin recognized me over the phone as the person who visited nearly a week ago, something that has become extremely rare anywhere that you don’t tip.
Admittedly, I have very limited exposure to comic /​game shops, but I have received a great first and followup impression. Avatar Comics and Games will be receiving my continued business and recommendation to others, and I look forward to attending regular events there.

My 2^nd visit was much better than the 1^st– the staff greeted me as I walked in and helped me immediately. This earned them a couple more stars. My first visit I had been ignored by the staff completely and when I was finally acknowledged, the staff wasn’t exactly friendly.

I’ve been in only twice — the first time was a pretty normal experience where I purchased a mtg fat pack, a playing mat and some card sleeves. The second time, I came in and the person working was at the gaming table with some other folks and other than that, the store was empty. He said hello from across the room but remained at the table. I wanted some product (card sleeves) which they display from behind the register so I stood there waiting and waiting and waiting… The staff member never got up from the table to help me so I eventually left. I won’t be coming back.

This is a great comic book store that is located right next door to Zombie Zone. They are jam packed with gaming and comic related items. You can also purchase boxes to store your comic books in to keep them nice and organized. The staff is super friendly and welcomes all questions and inquiries. This is a true gaming store as they have several of the gaming tables for the action play. I am not familiar with those games however looks like fun for those who are.

I want to like this place, I really do. The people who work here are super nice, and they try to help you, even if they don’t know much about the item you are looking for. Manga, for example. They’re mostly a gaming store; think those tabletop warhammer games. They also have a small selection of comics and manga. I would definitely give them higher ratings if they had more comics and manga, or if I was into tabletop games.

I love comics and this place does sell quite a few, but my biggest problem is that they don’t stock much outside of standard superheroes. Simply put, there are pretty big releases from Vertigo and Image that they just aren’t ordering (Thief of Thieves, Saga, Saucer Country, New Deadwardians, Manhattan Projects etc…) The owner is pretty cool and will special order just about anything for you if you have a pull list, but I really hate having to wait an extra 2 weeks for stuff to come in.

The guys in this shop are some of the friendliest people in the business, and are always there to help you with whatever you need. I recently asked them to special order an item that they do not normally carry, and they were wonderful! Very cool place.

I usually stop by next door to this shop just to eat and I decided to come in one day to buy more Magic The Gathering booster packs. Pretty cool store, focuses mainly on their gaming more than anything else. I don’t know how many other people out there that plays Magic outside two of my friends, one being a co-​worker but I have that drive to just be competitive and want to beat them at their own game. I’m disappointed though that no one here wants to step up and school me on actual strategies other than tell me what the basic rules are.
Still, a cool shop to get your non-​video gaming fix. They have comics, art, books, memorabilia. And best of all, they have a delicious chicken restaurant next door.
Will I be back? Definitely. Driving by on a Friday night, this place is always busy. Sometimes they’ll be there up until midnight it seems.

I dunno, I guess I’m considered a loyal customer of Alternate Realty comics, because I wasn’t impressed with this comic book store. I think it would be more suited for people interested in Dungeons and Dragons, collectable miniature sets, or Magic etc. It was clear comics, graphic novels were not the number one sale item here, and while they did have a variety of editions available from DC, Marvel, to Dark Horse. They didn’t seem to have a large selection of Vertigo, which is my fave so I was a little bummed.
When I walked in on a Sunday afternoon, the store was «geeked» out like crazy. Apparently they hold Dudgeon and Dragon gatherings during the afternoon… No one seemed to notice when my friends and I walked in or while we were looking around… No one to answer questions, no one to provide any assistance or information. So I left, and I don’t think I’ll be returning.

This place is a pretty awesome gaming store with a staff that knows their stuff. They have multiple tables and scenarios set up with a large sized miniature gaming selection for purchase — and on top of that, a big wall of comics!
They just always seem to be out of Citadel’s Chainmail color… I think they hide the pots when I walk in.

This is a very friendly place. The staff is knowledgeable and has made some cool suggestions about new series that I might like. They have quite a few things in stock, but they are also willing to order hard to find items, like an out of print Star Was comic that I wanted for the hubby’s birthday.
Perhaps best of all, the owners go out of their way to make this a comfortable and fun place for their customers. They always have raffles and model painting contests, as well as plenty of chances to play Warhammer on their custom tables.
