Why protect your assets when ADT will rip you off anyways? Don’t believe the sales rep or this company, bunch of money hungry leeches trying to make as much money as they can off you. Here is my horrible experience with this horrible company.
1) Online advertising showed a free security camera with an installation. Sure, why not. So I contacted a rep over chat and setup an appointment.
2) Sales Rep came by and gave me a quote. Close to $ 1,000. We discussed smart home system and the ability to control locks etc. Paid the rep and setup an appointment for install.
3) Install guy came in and first thing he asks, why do you have only one panel and 3 mounts? Apparently, sales rep messed up the order. So Install guy calls sales rep and gets the corrections done. Sales rep stops buy and drops off the extra panels and says, you should have the install guy setup Z-​Wave for your locks.
4) Locks stop working for some reason so I decide to set it up later.
5) 6 hours later, install is done, but no camera. So I call rep and am told that it was not in the contract. But wait, your website says it’s free. Rep wants to charge me $ 100 for the camera. I decline and say they are breach of contract. Rep sends me to customer service.
6) Customer service rep agrees to install camera and waive fees (awesome rep by the way).
7) New Door lock arrives so I call to figure out how to install it. Am told that its not setup on my contract. Really? No surprise about this. Incompetent people working in the company. Am told another rep has to come out and look at my lock to see if it’s correctly installed. WTF? No, you just want a rep to come out and charge me more money.
8) Told customer service to go screw themselves I want to cancel service. Am told that I will be charged fees for cancelation. Apparently the 6 months money back guarantee is full of crap just like the company. It states «If during the six months following installation we are unable to resolve any installation/​service-​related concern, we will refund the installation charge and/​or any monitoring fees paid.»
So I’m now stuck with a system, locked into a contract and can’t even get my lock setup without some rep coming out and looking at my lock.
STAY AWAY FROM ADT! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!

Horrible customer service!!! After having the system for a year and having multiple customer service issues with false alarms, we decided to cancel our service when we moved. When they came to uninstall the system from our rental, they didn’t do the job right and I had to finish the uninstall and shut down the system myself after waiting on hold for over an hour and no one even offered to have someone come back out to compete the job. When I called to cancel I was advised I had to pay 75% of the remaining contract balance despite my frustrations with customer service. But wait, they did offer me a $ 50 visa card. When I purchase a security system I want reassurance that I’ll be taken care of and I absolutely have not had that. It’s worth it to pay over a thousand dollars to not have to deal with these people again. Do not sign with ADT!!!

The quality of service is poor. I cancelled this service months ago and they continue to bill and call me.

This is a company that deserves 0 Stars!!! Years ago I left this company due to a lack of monitoring. I periodically test my system to make sure i’m being monitored. Getting what I pay for. Routinely this company wouldn’t come over the intercom, call, or text to see if everything was okay. I left them with zero regrets.
Today I decided to give them another shot for my mother in laws apartment. After playing the press the number game for a new system install I was put on hold for 10 plus minutes. What company puts new customers on hold? Guess they don’t want business? Finally a Julian answers. After I tell him i’m looking for a quote he tells me he wants to take some info, then determine if I am going to be sent to another individual to receive a quote, or be sent over to the install department? I asked why he isn’t able to provide a quote? He stated he was not able to. I then asked why he answered just to put me back on hold, and his reply was to take my info basically «very sarcastically».
As I can tell their customer service hasn’t changed. I wouldn’t trust them to watch over anything, or anyone that I care about.

Well, I will upgrade this review if my dealings with ADT ends up as I originally intended. After reading Unilocal reviews of others, Im no longer optimistic, since they seem to have other complaints of a similar nature. This is a summary of what I find myself in the middle of with ADT:
ADTs apparent practice:
Apparently other customers, as was I, have been told a month to month contract is not available…
Until the customer says they are not interested in service under an extended agreement. (Exactly what happened when I said no thank you to a 3 yr contract)
At that time the Representative ADT has sent to your house makes a phone call for permission to make an exception. ADT approves this, in my case, I was given a ‘rider’ noting My service was month to month.
6 months later I called to discontinue my month to month service. ADT tells me that I would be charged for cancelling before ‘The 3 year contract’ was fulfilled.
I remind ADT of my month to month agreement.
ADT tells me ‘Thats not possible because ADT does not offer month to month service’
I reference the ‘Terms and Conditions Rider’
First I am told there is no such rider. I offer to fax it to ADT. The rude person on phone tells me he cant help me because as long as he has been with ADT, he has not heard of this.
NEXT DAY:
ADT calls to be sure I know that I have a credit that may be used when I restart ADT service. I thank him and share that at this point I am only requesting to discontinue my month to month service.
I am again told I will be charged for ending my 3 year contract early. Again I explain I have a monthly contract and reference my month to month ‘rider.‘
ADT acknowledges this contract rider is indeed signed and in my file. However this ADT representative tells me the ADT rep who signed it did not have authority to sign this rider. He further consoled me by adding, he was sorry but he didnt know what to tell me. It was not something he deals with. But all would be ok as soon as I re-​signed up for 3 years with ADT for equipment (which we do not need)
(Note to self: ask for the job description of ADP employee before speaking with any ADT rep).
Soooo…my only option is to review my final bill from ADT and notify appropriate Consumer WATCH DOG TV station. To be continued…
Update: NO response or remedy from this company. Do not recommend doing business with them.

Got screwed by ADT. Switched over to another company but still got billed by ADT and they won’t refund the payment. Being charged for services not rendered even though their service was disconnected 5 days prior to the auto payment. They didn’t even realize their system wasn’t hooked up anymore! Shows how great their monitoring is. My next calls will be to investigative news and then to PILB and BBB

I purchased a home (April 2016) that had a very sophisticated ADT system with all the bells & whistles (pun intended). The prior owner had installed it in Jan 2015 and signed the standard 3yr agreement. He probably paid a huge penalty when he moved.
All I wanted to do was sign up for monitoring of my ADT system on a month-​to-​month basis with no extended agreement.
ADT initially said I couldn’t do that. Then, after I told the sales guy that I was going to install a Simply Safe system, he suddenly was able to waive the extended agreement. But when the installer showed up, I suddenly needed $ 250 worth of equipment (for a 14mo-​old system that had been working just fine for the prior owner).
I sent the ADT installer on his way and ordered a Simply Safe system.

This company is a total ripoff!!! The installer was late and never actually completed my install order. Plus they will raise your monthly bill over there advertised rates.

Five months on from my initial review and it’s only gotten worse. If there were some sort of negative number of stars to give as a rating, I’d use that function here. We’re set up on auto-​pay (or «easy-​pay» as they call it) and somehow they manage to botch even that. I’m on auto-​pay and you call me three times in the last two months telling me that my payment is past due? I’m paying for «peace of mind» and you can’t even keep your books straight? Just amazingly bad.

ADT screwed my account up so badly after it was installed that they do not even have my contract on file. I have the original contract signed on my kitchen counter in my files at home. The contract shows they owe me just over $ 130 yet they will not make good on it. I cancelled my contract and told them to challenge me in court with no contract. I now have a letter in hand stating i owe them nothing and the equipment is mine.
ADT, you suck!

Beware and do not trust ADT with your financial information of any kind (sad that you trust your home in their hand because of a contract that you they will not let you off hook!).
As I was paying them on line, they helped themselves to charge my credit card which was supposed to be «on file only» too. When I stopped that and asked for my money back, they turned me in to a collection agency. When I contacted them, they apologized, I paid the balance using my check book on the phone and I was out of collection. Now that they have my checking account information, they are charging my bank account without authorization!!!
Short of taking them to the courts, what are my options? I don’t TRUST them to have access to my home!

Horrible company with no regard for the customer. The only thing these people want to do is bleed you for every cent. DO NOT USE ADT.
I had to sell my house for reasons beyond my control and my options were either continue paying the monthly fees until the contract is up (three year contract, already paid over two years) or cancel for 75% of the remaining balance.
The customer service rep told me there were no other options and really could not care less. The good news is this. I will never use adt again. I will be purchasing a new home soon and will NEVER allow this scam of a company in my home again.
Treating customers like this along with the movement of technology these people will be out of business soon enough. Check out
same monitoring, same service, no contracts and a fraction of the price.

I’ve just finished a phone call conversation with ADT. I just needed some information because I want to make a market research.
They have a SPECIAL Deal RIGHT NOW so to reserve the deal they asked me to make an appointment. I agreed. Then they demand the credit card information and if not they won’t come. So, dont!
Update. They called me this morning and after passing me to a manager and then passed me to the supervisor of that manager… around an hour later I broke down and gave the c. c information. Immediately after the ask me for my social security information and my birthdate. I’m not willing to give info on the phone. THEY TRICKED ME FOR MORE INFORMATION. They want to perform a credit check. …to remind you all.
It’s all before anyone came to «walk around» (this is how the call to house checking) with NO OBLIGATION. But the technician will come with all the products and the tools to install the system in THAT DAY.
But we said no obligation so how this one works?
EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE MARKETING THAT LETTING YOU FEEL LIKE A FOOL AND PUT YOU IN UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATION IN ORDER TO MAKE THE DEAL.
Update. Today they called me twice already.
Even though I asked them not to call me anymore. Today I talked with another manager. Promise me that the won’t call me anymore. Let’s see.

We called them they said it was 99.00 down 27.99 a month .
When they came out to install alarm they told us it would another 700.00 for some parts that we needed.
We told them we were never told of this on the phone and we talked to them for over 1 ½ .
They waived that fee, We thought everything would be ok , We Never signed any papers
the installers left and a week later we got another bill for 59.00 That they charged on the card that we had to pay the 99.00. the card the guy said they don’t keep on file .
We called the company they said you sign the contract I said no I didn’t .
I told them I would like them to send a copy they e mailed it What a Surprised it was signed but not by me .

Classic Bait and Switch. Avoid like the plague. Attempted to up-​sell me $ 4k when they were in my home. Not only do I not recommend these people, but I would not let them inside your home. They drilled a hole in my wall and when told them to forget it the whole thing, the proceeded to do a patch job that does not match my paint and they tell me there is nothing they can do for me. So, be very wary of these people and their tactics. Oh, and their sales manager isn’t a nice person either. When the tech was in the home, he called his sales manager on speaker and I was treated to a most unprofessional tirade and a threat of not getting my deposit back. Not a very pleasant experience whatsoever.

Ive lived at my new home for over a year and recently the old ADT equipment started going off at random times through out the day and night. I called to ask what to do and the technicians said they would walk me through disarming the whole system. I was to find a transformer and cut wires red and black or whatever. I could never find it. They were too smart saying that I should know what CHIME BAT means and that means low battery. Seriously, I have a masters degree and I do not make assumptions about the meaning of something so basically was unsure. They would not send anyone to help because my service was cancelled. Now a business savy person would say… let me send someone out. This could be their opportunity to get my business. I actually wanted it turned on but after they were so petty about helping me and acting like I should be an alarm specialist I will go elsewhere.

Very frustrating… I just moved and really wanted to use this service… I was looking for the works package because we have a large property… lucky for me money is not a large issue for us when I make purchases simply put we were not window shopping. When I called the service person a woman answered the phone was very unprofessional and disorganized so I gave up and hung up on her annoyed. I have a short Bull shit tolerance so I had my wife call back the next day and she ran into the same problem with a male it became so bad for her that she asked to speak to a manager on the first call. I called them back after hearing this and cancelled are appointment. Suck off ADT

The worse company ever! ADT does not care if your alarm goes off. They do not belong in this type of business. When your alarm goes off, they call you once then do not contact your afterwards then charge you a fee. They also have the worse customer service. The representatives have the worse attitude and sound miserable over the phone.

Hands down worst company and especially service! The rep even told me there service sucks lol. Wow!

I signed last night, I will cancel today after reading these reviews. The rep was super awesome!
