A Wild Hair

One of the hardest things to find when moving to a new place is a good hairdresser. I was referred to this place for a pedicure. Read the reviews about the hair styling and decided to give them a try. Am so glad I had Stacey do my hair. She is fantastic. She listens to you and then provides her expertise to help you with your style of haircut and coloring. When your hair looks great you feel great!!! Thanks so much Stacey!!!

If I could give zero stars I would. I had my hair done by Nicole. She asked me if I was relaxed I said yes which she still used a hot comb which I didn’t know what a big no no. My hair has been falling out in clumps ever since. I would recommend going to her.

Had a Brazilian blow out done by Janae. I had a Japanese thermal straitening treatment done about a year ago. It left my hair dry, dull, and thin. This Brazilian blowout was exactly why my hair needed, and Janae did a great job!

I chose this salon because it is close to me and has such great reviews. I was glad that I was able to make a same day appointment and when I heard it was a 2 story salon I expected a degree of extravagance, but the experience definitely fell short. As soon I walked in my hair dresser Maria Mascio was there waiting for me. The front smelling intensely of nail polish remover. As she walked me to her room I noticed she was wearing sweats and thought, «that’s not very professional work attire.» seeing later on that all the stylists wear whatever they want with no dress code. Which takes away from the professional ambiance of the whole place.
Her room was kind of messy. So it sort of felt like I was at someone’s house casually instead of at a salon. I showed her pictures and explained to her that I wanted to go full blonde and to get it as bright as it can go while creating even color. (My hair is blonde on top and brown underneath (faded dyed black.) She said she could definitely do what I wanted. She then asked me if I did want the underneath of my hair dyed as well because the top will cover it so it won’t even show. But I knew it would show. So yes I wanted it done (to get that full coverage I had put emphasis on.)
As she worked we chatted but her next client came to the doorway and started talking about her hair extensions. A friend of hers? It felt very inappropriate for her next client to be interrupting my session. Maria also left 3 times. The first time I didn’t know why. The second time to wrap up some food? The third time to go to the bathroom. The last one was ok! but I’ve never been left like that by past stylists.
After applying the dye she walked me to the dryer and offered me soda or water, so nice! And swore she’d be checking up on me. But only did when it was time to take me back. As she washed out my hair she asked if I ever had highlights before. My hear stopped. Highlights was NOT what I wanted! I actually think highlights look tacky close to the roots and hate them for the most part. I wanted even color and thought that’s what I was getting! She kept saying «It’s definitely blonde!» In the classic way hair dressers put emphasis on certain results to distract you from their mistakes.
I took a look in the mirror and commented on the close-​to-​the-​roots streaks. She said it would blend out after blow drying, but they didn’t. She said that I couldn’t have gotten what I wanted because she had to do parts at a time otherwise my hair would fall out. That I would have to come back 2 – 3 more times to get the result that I wanted. What a gimmick! Total BS, I sure felt played. If I had known she was going to purposely leave spaces of my original color in plain sight I would have not gone through with the appointment.
Her client/​friend came back during the hair cut. This time she walked in and just plopped herself down. Staring at me and smacking gum. Then when I showed Maria what I wanted for my bangs again the woman interjected with «Let me see.» It was all very obnoxious. Somehow my bangs came out stringy looking and she was going to send me out the door with frizzy fly-​aways. I asked her for some more product to fix it and in the end I was still dissatisfied. I spent several minutes in the bathroom after trying to get it to look less frizzy with some water. If it just came out right the first time I would not have missed my bus because of it. (The next one not coming for another hour on a Saturday night!)
The cut was what I wanted but it wasn’t styled well and the color felt like a scam. My bf commented on how the back looks dark like it wasn’t even dyed. Great… Maria was very nice to me but I will not be going back.
***Post update. My bf called Maria and she agreed to fix it for free. She had given me her card saying to call her for whatever I needed but I figured it was for more paid sessions. Again showing how nice she is, let’s see how it goes!

Khia is amazing. One of my friends has been going to her for years and recommended her, I am so pleased with my gel manicure and pedicure. My feet were awful after the winter and now they are like a baby’s butt! She’s great! Plan on keeping my hands and feet in great shape with her help.

I hate to give this a bad review because some of the ladies that rent here are amazing but the problem is the new receptionist. She has tried to book me with the wrong people, purposely not passed my messages along and gives me dirty looks when I go in. The last time I was in with my son there was inappropriate language on the radio and my nail lady told me the new staff was not listening to her about customer complaints. I have been going here for over 6 years so I know that something has changed for the worse and I can tell when the girls I usually see have low morale. Whoever hired this Aimee is obviously not paying attention!

This review is for Sicka. I am deathly afraid of letting ANYONE touch my hair (I’ve had many tragedies!). But with tons of photos in her portfolio and Facebook I gave in. I had never had highlights before and couldn’t be happier. I get compliments all the time and I wish I could refer them, but I’m in LA. So all you lucky ducks in Vegas enjoy her! 5 stars for Ana Estrada she is amazing! 3 – 4 stars for the actual salon/​receptionist.
Ana, she did a great job on both my sister and my hair. We both have very long hair (middle of our backs) hers a little thin and mine thick and we both did the ombré style. The cut was amazing, the color even more amazing, the wash & style just AMAZING! Ana is super friendly & sweet lady. She’s a bit talkative but I loved that. She truly knows her stuff about hair. So very happy with the results! Oh and did I mention the price was GREAT? Seriously about $ 50 – 70 cheaper for us both then any other salon… All because Ana chooses her prices!
Now for the salon… Well it’s nice I guess. The downstairs is the nail salon and the nail smell is obnoxious worse then an actual nail salon which is odd. The upstairs is hair salon also smelled weird. Not of hair product but… Not sure honestly. But once we got started it didn’t bother me at all. Oh! The receptionist… Is a joke! She wasn’t at the desk when my sister and I walked in. When she saw us after a few minutes she said «who are you here for?». We said Ana & she took us upstairs but was on her phone the way up. She was on her phone the entire time. When I got up to use the restroom she was just texting away (or whatever) not paying attention to anyone or anything. Just thought that was unprofessional and rude.
In the end I will go back for ANA and ANA only!

This review is for Vanessa at A Wild Hair. I have lived in Vegas for ten years, and it has taken me that long to find someone I am willing to keep returning to. I have tried other hair stylists/​salons over the years, but the huge turnover rates have prevented me from sticking with anyone.
I have driven by this place many times, so I finally visited their website and gave them a call. It was a luck of the draw sort of thing to find someone to cut my hair the first time, and luckily I got Vanessa. She was able to give me an appointment the same week that I called, and even came in early to fit into my schedule. I had gone to another salon in town almost a year before after a Groupon purchase, and the stylist there butchered my layers and was extremely pushy trying to sell other services and products. After that experience it took me that long to try somewhere new.
Vanessa took me to her room, offered me something to drink, and did a full consultation of what I wanted, blended layers and blond full highlights. She took time to listen to what I wanted and paid attention to my hair texture and natural color. She let me ask questions and responded patiently and with a friendly smile.
Throughout the appointment, she chatted comfortably and told me she had been at the same salon for several years, and for Vegas this is not always the norm. She was focused on me and what she was doing the entire time, not chatting with other stylists and rushing to get to the next customer. The end product was beautiful. She styled it perfectly and made me look ten years younger. She seemed as excited as me to see the finished product, which tells me she really enjoys her job.
When it came time a couple of months later to have the roots touched up, I realized I had lost her card (I am terrible at remembering names). I was going to have to call the salon and see if they could figure out who I had gone to. That same week I received a short little text from her asking if I needed anything – nothing pushy. I was so relieved, and she was able to offer me a few options for appointment times in the same week. The second appointment was as positive as the first.
The salon itself is very clean, and the other staff members are friendly and helpful. Just a tip – the stylists are independent contractors, so double check with them about pricing and payments. Some only take cash or check.
I am so relieved to have finally found someone who is not only great at styling and coloring hair but is also personable. I am planning to take my daughter here as well.

Ive passed A Wild Hair many times, I like this area of town and visit frequent so it was nice to finally get in and see what they were about.
I came in for aesthetician services and am never dissatisfied when I leave Trish.
Ive been seeing her for over a year now and love what she does to my face.
As far as the salon itself goes the only negative thing I have to say is as I walked in no one was at the front desk but the staff could be heard behind that area having personal conversations. I waited less than a minute before someone came to «check» if anyone was out front so no biggie for me but I could see how that may bother someone else. As long as Trish is at AWH so I will be too.

I tried this place because I badly needed a haircut and they had what seemed like a smoking deal on Groupon — $ 25 for one exfoliating sugar scrub, one deep conditioner, one haircut and blowout, and one neck and shoulder massage.
When I called to schedule my appointment the receptionist was super nice and friendly, it was pain free. I had no trouble getting the date and time a wanted. *PLUS*.
When I arrived I was greeted immediately, checked in (filled out a new client form), and they brought me fresh coffee. *SECOND PLUS*. But I had to wait several minutes for my stylist. Two other people arrived after me and were taken back before I was, not a huge deal, just noting.
This is definitely not the level of salon I would normally go to. It was sort of a mass production, try to make their money off products sort of place. It was older, a bit worn down, and lots and lots of stations. All of the stations looked really old, had big locks on the cabinets, and all of the mirrors at the stations were miss-​matched. They had very bright florescent lighting. None of this effected the service, just more of the salon experience. I will give them props for their bathroom. It wasn’t super nice, but they had a candle lit in there which had great relaxing lighting, and smelled great!
My stylist was Kylee, a young hip girl with a Mohawk, who was really sweet. She took me back to her station and asked what I wanted as far as my cut. She then took me back for a shampoo. I don’t know what all she put in my hair, she seemed to wash it 3 times before she put in the deep conditioner. I don’t know if one of those washes was the sugar scrub — I had kind of thought that would be on my face. Oh well. She did put some sort of lotion on my face, then covered it with a very hot towel, pretty relaxing. She then gave me a hand massage and covered each hand in a towel — one of the towels was waaaaay too hot and actually burned my skin a little, I had to take it off.
When she applied the deep conditioner she gave me a really nice neck massage. I felt mislead about the shoulder massage because it was almost non existent; It was over the sink, over my cape and towel around my neck, and lasted all of about 60 seconds. Oh well, what did I expect for $ 25?
She put a shower cap on me and took me to the dryer where I was given a few magazines and left to sit for 10 minutes or so. Afterward, s she rinsed my hair in cold water and we went back to her station. Kylee did an excellent job on my hair cut, I was really happy. When styling it she used 4 different products, and kept telling me how wonderful they were, and how I really needed to be using this and that. It became very obvious to me that that is where they make their money. I didn’t care for the way she styled my hair, but I never do when I get it done, (I always go home and restyle it). When we were finished she walked me to the front and showed me 3 more products, and said I should really consider getting at least one if not all of them. I actually felt bad for her because she tried hard, but I wasn’t interested in whatever they were selling.
All in all I felt like I got my $ 25 worth. I ended up with a really great haircut and was pleased. I don’t know that I’ll return again because it’s about 20 minutes away from home, and I prefer a little nicer ambiance. But for those who are looking to get their hair done inexpensively this place really isn’t bad.
