Mag’s Local Yogurt

I enjoy Mag’s just fine. However, they do seem to be just a bit lacking in the fruit topping dept. It seems like I’m always needing to scrape the bottom of the bowl to get a few strawberries and, they don’t have banana? I would really appreciate some banana slices on the berry flavored yogurts. The syrup containers are always on empty. I wonder if the young staff is just not paying enough attention or if they just cannot leave the counter to refill the toppings. In any case, it’s a fun place and has become a bit of a weekly meet up place for our family. We all look forward to it.

The best Frozen Yogurt spot in Larkspur without a doubt. Situated in the downtown area, it’s the perfect place on a sunny day. The flavors here are delicious, and there’s plenty of toppings to chose from: almond, strawberries (and other fruits), condensed milk, chocolate… the list goes on.
My favorite thing about this place is that it had so much space inside. Definitely one of the most spacious FroYo spots I’ve ever been to. The guys who work here are nice and always down for a conversation, and that’s always nice. Also, considering this place is in one of the wealthiest cities in the Bay Area, I’m very surprised by their prices, as they are cheaper than SF. The bowl of FroYo I got cost me a measly $ 4, and I packed it up with a bunch of other toppings. A very worthy spot to visit if you’re in the area. Enjoy :)

The sorbet (pink lemonade) was tasty. But I’m giving the place 1 star because of the lack of integrity, laziness and rudeness of the two girls whom were there and being paid to work? Seriously? The owner should be ashamed. The counters needed wiping down, glass doors and windows covered in finger prints, toppings scattered on the floor. That’s what I noticed within my first two minutes of being there. Next came the bathroom– paper towels filled the floor from the over flowing garbage can, no toilet paper, and empty paper towel dispenser. I was annoyed to see this for it wasn’t busy in the shop. Why aren’t they tidying up the place when they aren’t busy?
Our first time at Mags. Be that we took our two kids for a sweet treat I won’t be going out of my way to go there again. Even if the yogurt/​sorbet was good.
There’s nothing more disheartening, annoying and pathetic than going to an establishment only to find two lazy «workers» on their phones, sitting down and never greeting us nor the 3 other customers who came in. I told the girl about the bathroom and it needing attention. She looked over to the other girl who was sitting down in the window seat to go take care of it. I went back to the bathroom to wash hands about 10 minutes later and NOTHING had been touched. Trash piled up on the floor, still no TP, nor paper towels. Really? Marin teens are spoiled, lazy and being that I grew up here– it makes me sick that some kids these days can get away with that kind of behavior and lack of integrity. The owner needs to get a CLUE!
We were there Saturday, April 30^th around 4:30 pm.
To the owners of Mags– CLEAN IT UP! Hire kids with good work ethic– or at least train them to respect your store front! Really sad to see.

We LOVE Mag’s Local Yogurt!!! (How Unilocal*knew that I would be in a position to write a review I am not clear…)
Mag’s should be a franchise. I am familiar enough with the product and distribution of yogurt recipes on the open market, but, if quality control were an options they actually have one of the top three best yogurt products in the vicinity IMHO.
We are in the San Francisco Bay Area where we have many desert and snack options available, many healthy.
However, it is quite obvious that Frozen Yogurt as a category has come back overall, yet, it a very different from its grandparent-​self, such as College Park, now, exclusively in Berkeley, California, AFAIK as they used to have a second outlet in Walnut Creek, a few miles away.
The new family of yogurt is clearly marked as full of good bacteria which fulfills our stomach’s needs. It tends to be tart, at least as a base, with flavorings added to imitate other flavored yogurts and ice creams.
The other tendency of the New Yogurt is a more icy texture, less creamy than ice cream and other versions of frozen yogurt.
Mag’s does the best of both worlds imho.
Fraiche Yogurt on Fillmore Street in San Francisco is also one of the top three. However, I have never had a very positive experience interacting with the staff: always seem a bit pushy and not investing in me. I found there Stanford University branch seemingly comparable to any other vendor serving the vertical University market, so no negative impression.
Fraiche and Mag’s are similar in texture. Somehow they have been able to avoid the icy outcome their health-​centric competitors cannot avoid or choose. The icy ones are also unique in that they focus on ingredients to mix coarsely with the white, tart yogurt: not a blend to subdue the tartness with a given familiar or surprise flavor.
To also highlight a brand, Easy Breezy, on Irving Street, in San Francisco, is probably the best of both the creamy and icy worlds under one roof: each component, more or less fat content, seems to dictate either extreme.
But Mag’s as a BRAND is the best of all in a manner of speaking: the color scheme; the layout and design; the staff being young people within the local community with a vibrant and appealing approach, adds to a more traditional overall experience.
Larkspur being a small close-​knit community, the place, product, awning and benches outside, parking usually readily available (they close at 9 PM,) make for a very welcoming and warm experience.
Why 4 stars:
We have been disappointed with the less– firm consistency the last three or four times we have arrived «late in the day». I contacted the proprietor about this who stated it was a known issue and repairs were coming very soon — the next day, actually. Well, since then, we have had the same issue occur TWICE.

Still horrible teenagers who’s don’t give a crap working there. Last night (Nov 21), the two girl employees were on their phones, sitting on the couch, completely ignoring me, etc. For a $ 7 yogurt there should be better customer service and overall experience.

It’s a hot night and Mag’s had lots of business … And they ran out of my favorite flavor :-(So I just had to try something new: blueberry pomegranate euro tart. Liked it!

Flavors and textures are still tops.
Chocolate chip cookies from the topping bar were too good to be true and are no longer, replaced by the generic cookie dough and dense brownie-​like bits, one of which I not-​so-​discretely spit out because it was gross.
Creamy yogurt in a very clean space, still 0.55/oz, but less excited about the value. Many toppings are in those awful upright dispensers that either crush it to bits or dump far more than you wanted. A few flavors on the most recent visit weren’t chilled enough. Yes, still worth stopping in, but less awesome than the first few visits.

The yogurt here is full of flavor, especially the pistachio. The only drawback of the pistachio was that it was not cold enough on the night we went. The cappuccino was creamy and perfectly frozen.
This is a very quaint local yogurt place, with a wide variety of toppings. They even have sea salt as a topping, which I highly recommend. What separates it from other places like it is the flavor of its yogurt.

I’m going on four months of morning sickness (and no, that’s not normal) and all I really enjoy eating is frozen yogurt and ice cream, so I’ve been to Mag’s a number of times in the past few months. The yogurt is good and I love that they use all local products. The space is clean and soothing. Service is indifferent, but that’s not surprising since most of the staff are teenagers. And, whatever, it’s self-​serve anyway. Definitely on the pricey side, however.

Really delicious but hugely disappointing that they aren’t using compostable products or making an effort to recycle.

You better be rich to eat here. I had a $ 15 froyo, but its OK I use Gucci for napkins and drive a crappy Ferrari.

I don’t know what took me so long to write this. I’m a froyo freak when it’s hot out! Well that and the amazing juices at juice alley down the street. Ok wait is that bad love juice and frozen yogurt?? naaaa whatever
So anyways wonderful assortment of flavors. Clean place, friendly I want to say high school aged staff, which is so cute! Lots of famílies come here. Why 4 stars??? Because they really need to turn down the temperature and make their frozen yogurt more frozen. Literally by the time I get to my car it’s melted yogurt :(please do something about this! I love your yogurt, but I don’t love when it turns into melted liquid. Maybe just eat it really quick! Hahaha that’s not hard to do

Their frozen yogurt isn’t very frozen. It’s melted the second it comes out. And the kids of larkspur running wild, knocking cups over and screaming really put a damper on the experience. Too bad there aren’t any options for competition. This place is very weak and overpriced.

friendly yogurt shop, but not a fan of their product. it’s a kind of gooey, almost syrupy froyo that reminds me of half melted ice cream. they’ve got stations and toppings with all the fixin’s, but this is nothing like yogurtland or pinkberry, the standard bearers of the froyo+toppings fad.
I’d skip this and hop across the street to picco’s pizzeria, which has amazing (though very expensive) fancy soft serve.

I walked in tonight and was immediately greeted with a warm hello. The two young women working were very nice and had great suggestions of what I should get. The only downside to the store was the flavor choices, I was not a fan of most of them. I was also very upset when I realize that the peanut butter cupped labeled «Reese’s peanut butter cups» were not actually Reese’s cups but they were knock offs. It seemed as I’m management was to cheep to buy the real deal.
In the end the staff was great but some of the small things should be changed.

Ok let me start off by saying that I have never had a big sweet tooth when it comes to ice cream, gelato, and frozen yogurt however, I have heard so many good things about Mag’s that I had to check it out — and I am really happy I did. They have really great flavors — and for us simple folk– the vanilla and tart are yummy. Every topping possible. For me it will be gummy bears and I am set. If you are not a huge fan of the whole cold dessert thang, come into Mags and it might just change your palate, like it did mine. And sometimes change is always good :)

It’s self-​serve, so get creative at preparing your own treat. They offer 8 different yogurt flavors & a wide selection of toppings (cereal, chocolate, candies, fresh fruit, cheesecake bites, mochi balls, etc) The cost of yogurt plus topping (s) = $.47/​ounce.
Besides the flavorful frozen yogurt here, I also enjoy the clean & welcoming atmosphere. The toppings appear to be fully stocked & are kept neatly separated. (Not like some places where toppings are so close to one another they become messy & all mixed in)
They have indoor and outdoor seating. Love the large window seating area.

Low fat & no fat froyo that taste more like soft serve than yogurt — really good.
COCONUT
The coconut tastes sweet and creamy with meat — the way I like it.
OATMEAL
The oatmeal tasted nice and homemade — I would have loved raisins for this but perfectly fine on its own.
CARAMEL CORN
The caramel corn tasted just like apple jacks — very sweet and not tart
FINAL NOTE
This is a sweet little yogurt shop that feels really trendy beachy to me. I like that they carry toppings including fruit. I just wish they had butterfinger or nutter butters… maybe someday.

OMG — the best suggestion Unilocal has given me and my brother for this year!
We came here after our hike (yes, we’re those people that like to reward /​regain what we lost after exercising!)
The place had a homey feel… neighborhood spot. Families were gathered outside and it was just welcoming.
They have tasting mini cups by the counter… I had the nutella and I was sold. It was just deliciously creamy. The available toppings were out of this world! They had everything and it was a bit overwhelming to figure out what to put. Plus, we didn’t know that they had hot fudge and caramel and whipped creamy on the side of the cashier!
We’re already planning a comeback.
Well worth the trek and definitely friendly folks.
