History

Established in 1929.

The University Club of Michigan State University is a private social and recreation club offering its members fine and casual dining, banquet services, member events, seasonal recreation, and fitness and spa services. The Club began in 1929 as a men’s faculty club that met for lunch at the MSU Union. In 1970, the group moved off campus to its current University Club building. Today, the University Club of MSU, is the area’s premier private social and recreation club open to anyone in the community.

Our family was invited to attend their annual halloween event a few years ago and became members shortly after. The kids love the pool and Maui Beach snack bar in the summer (they rave about the cheeseburgers) and my wife and I enjoy dining at Mingle and drinks at Mixx. Forest Acres offers 2 courses and a year round heated training facility. The West course is my favorite. Check out the video below.

Daily soups are to die for!!! Tonight it was chicken dumpling and the other night was butternut squash
… friday night special is prime rib and was to die for … tonight had the chicken cabonero a little lacking in flavor but definitly fresh foods would definitely give them another chance!!! Staff is fabulous

Where privilege and disorder meet.
As far as the pool goes, it is child-​friendly to a fault. Adult swim times are frustratingly short and infrequent, and there isn’t any other good time to get laps in for fitness purposes.
Parents and guards let children run wild, resembling affluent humans that have become feral in a civil vacuum absent of order or basic decency. They are breaking posted rules, fighting, throwing food, screaming, crawling in and out of the un-​ladderd edges of the pool, crossing and wadding through swim lanes, and more. These children are going to become absolute monsters as adults.
On the plus side, they do offer Michigan beer and Dairy Store ice cream.

Went here for a conference today. The food was amazing. Brownie was probably the best one I’ve had in my life. Food included stuffed chicken breast, salad, numerous pasta salads, hummus, pasta, potatoes and more. There were multiple rooms which helped with different events going on at once. The pool outside looked gorgeous too. My only complaint is that they had the AC on way too cold. After multiple complaints to turn it up, it still wasn’t done. Next time I’ll bring a heavier sweater

Food was not 4 star but the price was.
Service ok, drinks ok.

Good bar; good lunch buffet; hit & miss menu. Sitting out on the patio is a treat when the weather cooperates. The U Club dates to a time when no liquor was sold in East Lansing & the dinner time clientele shows it. Nominally a members only outfit, the joint has experimented with accepting credit cards, so if you aren’t a member here or at some reciprocal outfit, check with maitre’d before you waltz in and order a lobster.
