Jose’s Cuban Sandwich

I’ve only gotten delivery, but it never disappoints. Cheap, delicious, and gets here quick. You can’t go wrong with the Media Noche.

I completely forgot about Jose’s and was reminded today whilst on a sandwich question. I was pleasantly surprised to see my favorite sammy was on the menu, Chicken Artichoke! It is so simply delicious with chicken, 3 awesome cheeses, spinach artichoke dip and jalapenos, YES. Shout out to the bread, which is also very tasty but of unknown origin. I ordered delivery the guy was super swift and nice, in my mind he is Jose. He also gave me a coupon – bonus! I appreciate that their sandwiches are delicious with out any flare (chips, pickles, slaw etc), because I forgot to order any and I still feel excellent about the experience.

Stopped by here with four friends (one is a vegetarian) — we each got different things and we each LOVED what we got.
It was about a 10 – 15 minute wait, and there’s not much room in the restaurant so we ate in the car, but the food was AMAZING.
Savory and delicious without being too heavy or knocking you out.
Will definitely be back when I’m in town.

So darn good! We had the midnight and the Cuban. Pretty much the same ingredients but the Cuban has a spicy sauce on it. Not crazy hot, just perfect. The bread is one of the best parts of the sandwiches. Crispy, toasty, goodness. Open late too. This was my first visit with many more to come. Just great. So happy that LANSING is getting places like this more and more.

The food here is great and affordable. I usually go with the quesadilla, aurora, or media noche, but I’m definitely going to try a few of the others. The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about was their burritos. It has a little too much rice/​carbs and will put you to sleep. If you’re looking for the place, it’s really hard to find first time around. It’s literally at a gas station.
They’re super friendly, and they also deliver. Definitely excellent customer service too. I accidentally ordered for pick-​up today instead of delivery. They called me pretty quickly (not even 10 minutes after the estimated pick-​up time) to make sure I was coming. When I told them I screwed up, they arranged a delivery for me. Thanks a bunch!

My husband and I got the Cuban and the Elana Ruz. We shared so we could try both. Neither of us could decide which one we like better. The owner and staff are very friendly. Wonderful sandwiches!

My family and i frequent Jose’s. Have for a few years. The food is delicious and inexpensive. We have never had a problem with the food or any of the employees… until today. We ordered delivery off GrubHub like we have 1000 times. The order went through at 7:50. We were given an ETA of between 8:45 and 8:55. 9:30 rolled around and our food was still not there. Leaving me to scramble to feed my family. Sorry to say that i will not be ordering from either establishment for quite some time.

I tried Jose’s yesterday for the first time and I LOVED it. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with black beans. I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the overall taste, presentation and temperature of the food. I will definitely be frequenting Jose’s in the near future.

Amazing sandwiches, and every time I’ve been in there, whoever was working has been insanely nice to me. It’s a great deal too. Highly recommend!

OMG Jose’s!!! Went here again the other night and probably the best of any time I’ve been there. SOOO DELICIOUS! This time it was better than Señor Pan in Chicago which is AMAZING. OMG.
I do wish they wouldn’t take up the ONE parking spot with their own delivery vehicle. :’/

I had the Cuban sandwich combo and it was delicious! Everyone I was with enjoyed this cute little place. Economical and tasty.

I really love this place! I’ve tried most of the cubanos on the menu at this point, and I have to say the Cuban Turkey (with jelly), the Midnight and the Peruvian are my favorites!
I haven’t had anything on the menu which I did not like flavor-​wise, but I did find I did not always finish the rice when ordering a meal. Filling food!
While I mostly ordered for delivery, I recommend dining in on occasion as the staff are friendly, it’s rarely packed and the feel is of a wonderful small-​town shop with delectable smells wafting about!

This place is absolutely phenomenal. They just do everything right.
I’ve ordered lunch delivered to my office from their online site at least once a week for the last two months. It’s usually here in under 30 minutes. And, the delivery drivers have always been really friendly. Also, their online ordering system is easy to use as well.
But all that great customer service pales in comparison to the food. The food tastes like someone really cares about how the food tastes, which, I believe, is a rare thing to find in restaurants these days. I have been ordering the same thing (a buffalo chicken wrap) for a while now but decided to try something new today. I ordered a chicken burrito and was so impressed with it that I’m writing this review between bites. It has some kind of house sauce on it that made me want to slap someone, and I mean that in the best way possible. Honestly, this place is just so, so good. Eat at Jose’s immediately.

Teeny tiny place. Mom was busy taking care of kids while also prepping– glanced into cooking/​prep area and almost considered turning around — one should never see where food is prepped unless it’s spotless– but the sandwich also didn’t come close to my memories an authentic Cuban sandwich.

Once again, the Unilocal app has helped us to find an excellent eatery. This is one of those places that we probably never would have tried. We actually make it a point to never eat at restaurants that are connected to a gas station. The plethora of positive reviews led us to this place.
While visiting the Lansing Zoo, we pulled out our phones and started perusing the Unilocal app. Ever since the film «Chef», I have wanted to find a good Cuban sandwich. The restaurant name along with the high rating drew us to the location.
There is not much to this restaurant as it has a few small tables and chairs. Once inside, we didn’t look much at the menu, because they were promoting their Cuban sando. «We will have two please!»
While waiting for our food, we played some Yahtzee as they have several board games to entertain. Once the food arrived, the games were done and we got down to business. The sandwich was so delicious. We savored every last bite and wished we lived closer. The lady working was really friendly and even came out and made some small talk with us.
All in all, this place is amazing! Regardless of what you are used to, I highly recommend ordering a phenomenal Cuban sandwich. Next time in the area, we might even order an extra one for the drive home.

Ambiance: considering that this place is connected to a gas station, I didn’t have high hopes for it anyways. The walls are covered in MSU sports posters, there are Chinese lanterns and ceiling tiles falling down. It made us sort of hesitant but I was willing to keep an open mind due to the high ratings and reviews about the food from other Unilocalers.
Food: My brother and dad selected the sausage platter, complete with black beans, salad, an egg and rice. They said it was alright. The sausage was flavorful and it was a decent amount for $ 8. I purchased the Cuban sandwich. It was flavorful as well, but considering that this was my first ever Cuban sandwich, I had nothing to compare it to.
In conclusion, this place was decent. Decent food at a decent price. As another Unilocaler stated, if you don’t want to see the inside of this joint, order ahead for pick up or order for delivery.

Let me be clear at the outset: the sandwiches I have had from Jose’s have all been excellent. I particularly liked the hot Cuban Sandwich and the Midnight (Media Noche). The pork is flavorful and juicy and the bread is fresh and paired perfectly with the various sandwiches. I also liked the rice and bean side dish, even though I am usually not a rice and beans fan. Overall, the food is worthy of 4 if not 5 stars.
So why do I give this place only 3 stars? Because it is a dump. It is absolutely filthy. It is a tiny facility and really wouldn’t take that much to clean up, but no effort has been made whatsoever.
So, if you want a great sandwich but don’t want to be grossed out, order online and have it delivered. At the very least, order ahead and when you pick it up, don’t look around — keep your eyes straightforward and get in and out as quickly as possible!

If you need an awesome sandwich for a reasonable price and quickly, Jose’s is the place to go.
We found ourselves hungry a little later into the evening and wanted something that wasn’t your normal fast food, but we had to get it quick. Jose’s helped us out and we will certainly be back.

Why has it taken me so long to try this place out?
I had to try the Cuban sandwich with black bean and rice. So delicious. The pork was tender, full of flavor. The sandwich also has ham. I was thinking the sandwich would be too salty but it wasn’t. The bread was amazingly soft. The black beans were very good. The beans could have a little more heat for me. So glad I tried this place!

Opened since 2011 Jose’s Cuban Sandwich has been a hidden gem in Lansing that I only hope more people discover. Authentic Cuban food with a Peruvian twist.
The owner Jose a Peruvian, is super friendly and helpful. I always order El Caribbean Chicken Sandwich combo. That includes the sandwich, chips, cookies and a coke for $ 8! Tell me another place that you can get that much food for that price!
The location itself is a small hole in the wall next to a gas station with MSU memorabilia everywhere. It has a huge following and its delivery is popular through
. It’s good for take out, delivery, and even has some tables and chairs if you want to eat inside.
I would highly recommend Jose’s Cuban Sandwich to anyone! Best sandwiches in the Lansing area!
