Love this store! They always have great sales which I appreciate. However, it makes me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable buying anything full-price because it makes me think it’s probably marked up significantly so they can put it on sale in the future and still turn a profit. Luckily, most things I’m buying go on sale regularly. This store sells everything from art and craft supplies to wooden and metal decorative signs to picture frames and office supplies… Even some furniture! It’s conveniently located on the west side of town near my work so I frequently go there on my lunch breaks. Only issue with that is that, even though the store doesn’t seem busy, I often have to wait in line because they never have enough cashiers at the front.

Wow. I can’t believe I never visited this store before. I have really missed out. I guess I always avoided it in the past because I’m not much of a craft person. If I had known they also had a great selection of lamps, mirrors, chairs, other furniture and a LARGE selection of household decorative items, I would have been a loyal shopper for years. I was really impressed with the selection and the prices were more than reasonable, especially with their weekly sales. I am definitely going to become a regular shopper at this store!

SO let me begin by saying I actually really love this store and everything they sell. I do not really care about the politics or their religious beliefs as a company. The problem with this particular location is everyone who works there is rude and condescending. I am not going back after today. Most of the time the cashiers do not even greet me when I am ready to check out. Today when I asked a lady for help with fabric(which I have never purchased before in my life) the lady who assisted me was condescending and insulting. I did not see anyone working near the fabrics area and apparently did not notice their service bell so I wandered a few aisles over to a woman working in the flower section(who had actually already looked up at me twice in the 10 min I was looking at fabric and did not acknowledge me nor did she offer help). I asked her if there was someone who could assist me in the fabric section. She rudely replied with«yes that would be me. you are supposed to ring the bell for help». I was like alright well this is actually the first time I have ever bought fabric so I don’t know how it works. I didn’t even see a bell. She walks me all the way back to the counter and stands there staring at me without saying anything so I was like oh hey, I think I need a yard and a half of some red flannel, she replied with«well go get it yourself. you’re supposed to bring it up here». Again, information that would have been nice to know as we walked past ALL the fabric on the way to the desk. Since you know, I had already told her I had no clue what I was doing. She also refused to make eye contact with me through most of the interaction and when she did she was all glarey and grumpy looking. At this point my 4 year old discovers the infamous bell and starts dinging it. So now the lady gets pissed. I jokingly said to my kid, oh so nooowwww you find the bell, trying to lighten the mood so I don’t say something extremely inappropriate to her. The old lady looks at him and replies, maybe you should have found that 5 minutes ago instead of making your mom look stupid. WOALADY! I am all for a good joke, but we are not do not have a joking relationship at this point. She ended up just handing over the fabric and ending it there, no thank you, no have a good day, nothing. I do not require much in the way of customer service, but I certainly do not want to feel like a burden or like I am interrupting your time and bothering you when you are getting paid to be there. I ALWAYS feel like I am interrupting someone in that store, even when I am checking out. I will say however today I had a cashier I had never had before and I took note of her name because she was so excellent. Her name was Allison and she was super cheerful and nice and DIDNOT make me feel like my dropping 200 dollars in their store was a problem or an annoyance. She was very sweet and because of her my experience wasn’t totally ruined.

Let me begin by saying I love the stuff I can buy at Hobby Lobby and have made lots of purchases there. They run great sales regularly. I appreciate their being closed on Sundays to allow employees to attend church and be with their families. They’re conveniently located. The ONLY reason I can’t give it a better rating because of how they handle coupons. My first rough experience was around Christmas when I attempted to use a coupon at the END of my order rather than the beginning. At first, the cashier refused to honor the coupon because she said she couldn’t apply it at the end of the sale. Then she admitted that applying it at the end of the sale penalizes her as the cashier. She did(begrudgingly) apply my coupon but asked me to give it up front the next time I had one. Today, a kind woman in line behind me tried to give me a coupon to use at the end of my sale. This time the cashier refused to honor it because my largest item was already on sale and applying it after she’d already run everything up would«be too much trouble.» I loudly thanked the woman behind me for trying. I WANT to love Hobby Lobby. I really do. But this is a stupid policy and not the best example of good customer service. Update: I think some changes have taken place at this Hobby Lobby! I had a cashier actually tell me how to get a coupon during my checkout process! Kudos, and another star for Hobby Lobby!

I find the prices, unlike what Casey said above regarding their pricing — is not overpriced at all. Their framing is comparable to other stores that do framing, and they often have great sales. In addition, they do an expert job. Their supply of art supplies not only offers a vast array of offerings(unlike what a local store can do, they can’t easily buy as much stock as Hobby Lobby) but their prices while not always the cheapest, are not at all overpriced. Often, they underprice the competition. So I don’t know where this other person was shopping. It would appear that Casey’s snarky remark reflects a problem with the owner’s faith perhaps. I often shop their for picture framing — not just framing art or whatnot — and their frame prices can’t be beat along with a selection so huge I find it difficult to pick out only one frame. It would seem Casey has clouded her perception of the place due to the owners Christianity. I wouldn’t listen to her advice.

Hobby Lobby is essentially the Christian Conservative Walmart of art supply stores. The founder and owner is often quoted that he «lives to spread the Word of God», and they close on Sunday to allow their employees a day of worship, if that gives you some insight as to where your money spent here is going. Religion and politics aside, most of their supplies are overpriced, but you can find some good deals here, for the same reason you will find great deals at Walmart. They undercut local business’ with their chain distribution capabilities. Instead of shopping here, you should spend the extra few cents to support a locally owned art supply store like Grand Art Supply or O’Leary Paint.

Hobby Lobby is your one stop shop for all things arts and crafts. You can buy anything form stencils to flowers to model cars and planes to yarn. I wanted specifically yarn and they had a wide selection of it. They have many different textures and weights. They carry supplies galore: needles and hooks, patterns(some free), and canvas bags. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I was also looking for small motors for remote control cars, etc and unfortunately, they did not have any. That is why they received 4 stars instead of 5.
