Business Owner

A child of the 70s, Robert started reading comic books about the same time that the Shazam!/Isis Hour was originally playing on CBS. Originally drawn to comics by the boy-​turned-​superhero Captain Marvel, Now known as the hero Shazam! Robert soon developed a passion for the DC Universe that has persisted through the years. Spending many hours in comic book stores across the nation, Robert long dreamed of someday opening a comic shop of his own. That time has come.

This comic store is great! There are people who work there that actually read comics and know their stuff. There was a guy there who worked the weekend who knew nothing except what was on tv and in the theaters, he doesn’t work there anymore, but he was a nice guy and at least he was honest. The new weekend guy is great, and he likes to talk comics. If you really want detailed info go on the weekdays. This guy knows his comic world, especially DC. He’ll get you in the right direction to start enjoying comics. When I went to the place in the mall and asked a few question there was not one person who worked there that cared about comics. Again they only knew what was on tv and the movies. So head down to Royal Comics and pick up a few comics. Then maybe you can start a pool there. There’s nothing like sitting back on a Saturday morning having a cup of coffee reading Batman, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg, Deathstroke, etc…

Maybe things have changed since the other reviews of Royal Comics and Gaming, but the one guy who currently sits behind the desk is, well, rather terrible.
One day I walked in and he completely ignored me for around 10 minutes as he was thoroughly engrossed in a computer game. I didn’t mind much, just got some comics and left. He seemed annoyed to have to leave the game.
The comics were normally priced, so at least they’ve got that going for them. They didn’t have polybags or really anything in terms of bags that day. Thankfully I had my book bag.
Another day I walked in and the same guy was behind the counter… on the phone. Which is fine, a shop gets calls. I was just looking at the figurines when I heard him loudly complaining about how much he hated having to keep the shelves stocked for «the fuckin’ walk in’s».
Yeah… Never going back there again. Oh, and if you want to start a pull list make sure you’ve memorized every comic you want and give it to the staff on a loose piece of paper. Yeah, that’s their system. It’s like the shop doesn’t even want your money.

Nice little local shop with enthusiastic staff. Nothing more than your standard comic shop fare here, though (comics, action figures, board games, etc.). They look to have a pretty active gaming group (D&D?) with half the space dedicated to tables and seating, which seems to be the main draw.
