The Artichoke Restaurant & Bar

One of the best places to eat in the area. I drop in often. Quaint old farmhouse. Menu with good variety and also flexible to «custom make» things to your liking. Namesake is a great appetizer. Nice little bar with full screen to watch while having a cocktail or waiting for a table although it can get full. Owner hand picks most fresh items. Excellent friendly atmosphere, ranging from intimate to casual.

Husband and I went for date night. Had reservations. Got there early, enjoyed drinks by the fire and were seated quickly. Wine was good. Appetizers were perfect. Salads were amazing. Husband had tilapia that was excellent. I had stuffed shrimp. Shrimp was good… stuffing not so much. Overall a great experience. Will definitely go back!

Went last Friday for wife’s birthday dinner while at the lake. Had reservations for 7:00, arrived about fifteen minutes early and were promptly greeted by the owner and seated. Meals (Blackened Salmon and Crusted Tilapia) were great as usual and the prices are really reasonable given the portion size and price ($ 22 and $ 16). Wine list is a bit limited but their «mark-​up» is far less than you normally find in Tulsa. Service was great from Lori and she even brought the wife a chocolate cake dessert with a birthday candle. We live on the southwest end of the lake and while we’re members of the yacht clubs the Artichoke continues to be our go to place. Just hard to beat with the good service, great food, and value.

It had been a while since we had been to the Artichoke and took the chance they could seat us and they did. You can’t go wrong with any of the food items… however, don’t go last minute like we did or they are going to be out of things. Never fail, we found something delicious to eat anyway! I had the pasta special with Italian sausage. My husband had the blackened chicken with a flash fried baked potato. Yes, I said flash fried — it was sinfully delicious. There was so much pasta that I had enough for lunch the next day but had to fight my husband for it because it was still excellent re-​heated. It had great flavors that had the after you ate it spicy bite.
We normally skip dessert but opted to share a lemon cake special they were serving. I only wanted a few bites but ended up eating at least half of it because I just couldn’t stop!

I live nearby and have been wanting to try this place for a while. I was just waiting for the right people to go with me – my darling husband-​to-​be is not as pumped about trying new or interesting restaurants as I am. I invited my foodie uncle and his foodie wife to drive over from Tulsa for the afternoon, and we are glad we ended our fun day together with a lovely meal at The Artichoke.
We got there at about 5:30 on Tuesday (they open at 5) and were immediately seated in the dining room. The décor and atmosphere are not atypical for the area – wall art, curtains, floor, and tables are geared more towards the 50+ crowd, but I’m not saying that in a bad way at all. After all, they do keep a pair of reading glasses on each table so clearly they know their typical demographic. ;-)
The server was helpful and efficient throughout our meal. I liked her. I liked her, and the way she handled my slightly nutty Greek family. :-)
We started with a bottle of wine and the artichoke. The artichoke comes with yummy garlic butter and a lemon wedge, and we also asked for a side of mayo, which may sound absolutely disgusting, but it’s the way our family has been doing artichokes for years and it is indeed delicious. The complimentary spinach artichoke dip that comes with tiny toasts was very good as well. Perfect size for sharing a couple bites.
We each started out with Caesar salads ($ 7-​ish). They seemed very fresh and had the perfect number of croutons. I don’t like it when there are too many croutons! The dressing was very good but a little heavy handed on the amount for my uncle and me. My aunt loved it, though. Practically licked her plate clean.
My aunt and uncle each had the crab legs special. They each ate the heck out of it and said it was very good. Come to think of it, they didn’t offer me a bite so it must have been good enough not to want to share. They did share their side of mushrooms, though, which were buttery and pretty good.
The asparagus side was classic and cooked just right.
I ordered the artichoke (!!!) ravioli appetizer for my entrée. It was pretty good. The creamy sauce was a bit too rich for me, but it had a very nice flavor. If I didn’t have to squeeze into a wedding dress next month, I probably would have used the bread (very good – comes before the meal), smeared some of their yummy roasted garlic on it, and dipped it in the sauce. The number of raviolis was perfect for a main course. Not too much, and at $ 7-​ish, I felt like I got a good deal.
I really want to go back and try the salmon (if it’s wild-​caught – I didn’t ask) when I have some extra going-​out money. I think it was $ 17 which really I don’t mind paying if it’s good salmon.
Like I said, I live on the south side of the lake, so I’m pretty pumped that this place is only a couple miles from me and has good food and service. I’ll happily add it to my list of places to take friends and family when they visit.

Went in for my birthday. Our server was very attentive and accomodating. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation and just wanted to have a little wine before dinner. They sat us immediately and took great care of us. The steak Oscar was cooked perfectly. They serve a real caeser salad. Nice touch– reading glasses in a case on the table. Fabulous meal, great service. Highly recommend

Best place on the lake, great food, owners hands on and want to please, all at reasonable prices.

This place has been hit or miss with the food being average for the price and above average because its in the middle of nowhere. The restaurant is in an old house and it is often crowded and reservations are needed if you don’t want a long wait because it has little competition in the area.
The Owner once came out and made us move our car when it was raining because he said where we parked was not a parking space. Upon leaving after our meal, one if the «regulars» car was where we had been told not to park.
On another visit with my Mother and Mother in Law the Owner was very rude when asked why they were out of his special whole fried potatoes. My Mom asked why they could not go to the store a mile away and get more potatoes and it made him mad. They were also out of all but one cut of steak and several side dishes, not normally a big deal, but they have a small menu to begin with.
We have never gone back because of these service issues, but others like it.

Superb food in a comfortable atmosphere. The epitome of a truly classy, yet unpretentious, restaurant. Not what you might expect in a small town, but it rivals any restaurant I’ve eaten at in my travels. Great place for a romantic dinner…

It’s not waterfront, but I think it is one of the best places around Grand Lake.

An incredible dining experience with fine food and excellent service. Their artichoke dip and bread is one of a kind. The artichoke appetizer will thrill the pallet of two to four people. We had their crab leg special and savored a great meal. To die for and worth the trip. BTW, the anniversary hot chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream was WOW.
