Sylvan Park / Riverview Campground

We’ve done this campground quite a bit when our children were small. The bath house and toilets were gross then and they are just as bad or worse now. Totally disgusting. Unless you have a shower in your RV you’ll be out of luck and disappointed. I have no problem paying to use the shower however this is filthy dirty. This was Labor Day weekend and it was busy not only the campground but the park itself. The bathrooms and showers were never cleaned the entire weekend. There’s no excuse for this. In addition to their crappy bathrooms/​shower the garbage dumpster at the entrance to the campground stunk so bad you could smell it for up to five or six campsites. It is too bad because this could be a very nice park and attract a lot more visitors. The tourists and visitors make this town for the summer and eventually if things aren’t repaired it will cause people to stay away from the town. The private campgrounds in the vicinity of Lanesboro are equally gross and way overpopulated. Think long and hard about using this campground unless you don’t mind pee all over the toilets and showers with hair and dirt everywhere.

This place is pretty nice. We went for a cook out and I really enjoyed myself. The campground itself is really clean, except the bathroom are a bit on the gross side. There is a river right down the road and you can rent tubes. There is also a 15 mile bike path. I didn’t go for a ride, but others did and they said it’s really nice. The best part is the downtown area which is just a 2 minute walk away. It feels like you are back in the 1950’s. Lot’s of old shops and pleasant people. But most shops close very early.
I would definitely return.

We had a great tent camping experience. Sites are first come frost serve.. .. $ 15 for tent, $ 25 for camper. The restrooms/​shower are ok, but just across the park the community center facility is worth the extra one minute walk. Showers at both locations are 5 minutes for 4 quarters. No change machine so bring your quarters! Perfect location right downtown and a Saturday farmers’ market in the park.

It’s all about the location and this can’t be beat! It’s smack-​dab in Lanesboro alongside their public library. I could feel the vibe and energy of the town yet feel removed and safe enough to get good sound sleep. How is this possible? The 2 water fountains in the middle of each man-​made lake provide a constant white noise so you can’t hear other campers or fishermen. Would I come again? Definitely. I like tent site 26 – 27 (first come, first serve) and how I can set up my slackline between the two trees in the middle of the two lakes. Be forewarned, one lake is green — those poor trout, whereas the other is slightly cleaner. Please pump oxygen into those lakes! Anyway, the humble bathhouse is clean but one toilet’s plumbing vibrates and shakes violently when flushed and the furthest shower does not drain water (please fix and have comment cards available so campers can leave suggestions). Coin showers available. A Lanesboro is a must-​visit weekend at least once a year. Next time I’m bringing a paddle board to do the Root River, it’s so shallow!
