Not sure why this place is closed but they have been serving great food for at least 25 years… So sad they are closed.

Just heard the Italian Inn closed on yesterday, permanently. Anyone know if this is true?

I’ve lived in the area for 10 years and have never ate at this spot. I finally ordered take out, the shrimp and crab pasta, and it was actually pretty good. Wasn’t as seasoned as I’m use to, but the lumps of crab meat throughout the pasta was good. I also ordered a medium pepperoni and sausage pizza, it was $ 11 and it was pretty good for a small local pizza spot.

The service is really going in the gutter… This is the third time I have placed an order gotten to the restaurant and been told that they didn’t have any you could told me that on the phone… If the old lady take your order make sure they have what you want … So you’re time is not wasted

First visit after friends raved about this place. Realizing my friends don’t get out much and this is probably fine dining for them, I was not impressed… ATALL. Maybe 30 years ago the place was a happening spot, but no more. Waitress screwed up the order not just once but three different plates. The food was NOTHING to rave about. I honestly think ppl who visit this place are related to the staff. Never again under no circumstance!

Talk about nostalgic! My family and I use to frequent Italian Inn when I was a young child running wild(not really, my parents didn’t play that). It looks the exact same as it did when I was a little girl. Paneling on the walls, old dusty jukebox pushed to the back and the sofas for waiting customers looks like they’re from the 60’s. Not sure about the criminal activity in the parking lot because a police camera is literally sitting in the parking lot and a few extra lights were projected on the cars. Never seen an actual police camera in a parking lot before, just a bit surprising. Back in the day, Italian Inn had the best pizza around. With that on the brain, my sister suggested we stop in and grab a pizza. Well, it’s not how we remembered it. The toppings were extremely scarce, the crust was too thick and it was kind of dry. We were very unimpressed, to say the least. I’ve actually eaten better frozen pizza than I ate from here. According to a few other folks, the pasta dishes are good, but I never think of stopping by Italian Inn when I want Italian food. It was Valentine’s weekend and they had several specials running. Several people were dining in and several stopping in for carry-out pick ups, so apparently people still like the food here. The staff seemed to be extra friendly to those regular customers, all others they were just okay too. All and all, my memories of their pizza will remain in the past. I may come back to try some of their pastas, but that won’t be anytime soon.

Worst restaurant I have ever been too! The bartender makes drinks like a 1 year old!!! I have never tasted a drink that bad in my life!!!

BESTWINGSEVER! I like to think of myself a wing connoisseur and these wings are well seasoned and marinated in whatever type of buffalo they use. Never had anything like it before, but they are addicting. You can’t order just one to split, trust me you will be pissed. I’ve also have had their pizza and lasagna, and other pastas(the stuffed shrimp are to die for as well) — all are tasty, fresh and filling. I think it’s sad this place has been around so long and is always so empty on the inside. I want to submit it for one of the restaurant rescue shows b/c with a face lift, it will be back to making plenty of money I’m sure b/c the food isn’t the issue. As long as I live nearby, I’ll keep supporting this family owned spot.

I live nearby but it’s my first time here. Large portions of food for a good price. Service was good as well. Nothing fancy but a cool place with good value that I will definitely go back to again.

My friend and I rolled in here for lunch on Friday of last week, and boy! This place hasn’t changed since it was opened in 1961 with the exception of the menu prices. I was completely shocked to see something like this. With the ever changing restaurant scene in the DC metro area, it is a rare occasion that you find these gems hardly anymore… especially as in-tune with what it was like when it first opened. I do not mind retro. I personally enjoy it. It even has the old telephone booth in it. OMG! Who uses pay phones anymore?! It did not have a phone connected to it. Wall paper, décor, the bathroom… nothing has been changed since this place was built. Let’s talk about food… it was… okay. Not amazing, not terrible. It was simply okay. This is why I am giving this place a 3 star rating. I feel the same way about the service. It was simply okay. Our server was the same age as my grandmother and had the same sense of humor as her. She was nice, but a bit aloof. Would I come back or recommend this place? Eh… to each their own. I guess it depends on the person’s taste.

I liked the Godfather pizza. The pizza is rectangle like Ledo’s pizza but otherwise very different. I wanted to try the pizza after seeing the positive reviews but I don’t like Ledo’s pizza and some said it was similar. I disagree, this was much better. The pizza was the best part of my visit here with my wife, toddler, and baby. We were not impressed that the only kind of pasta was spaghetti noodles. My wife thought the sauce on the chicken marsala was weak. The salad lettuce was pale(not green). Our server was friendly but perhaps they were understaffed because she didn’t come by often. She forgot the side salad my wife ordered until after the entrée came and we asked about it. Also, they never refilled our drinks and didn’t offer a drink to our son so we let him drink out of ours. My son did like his spaghetti and meatballs and it was a good price. I was hoping they had some kind of bib but they didn’t. He made a mess but mostly on himself.

I’ve dined at the Italian Inn on several occasions over the past few years and the food was always great. I just recently decided to stop by after reading the reviews on Unilocal since it’s near the nail shop I frequent. I got a pizza with sausage and mushrooms, along with an order of wings. The food is still as good as I remember so I’ll definitely be back to experience other menu items ppl have raved about in their Unilocal reviews.

Had the Chicken w/Penne and a la Vodka sauce and it was pretty good. The sauce went through all of the penne shells and was paired very nicely with the chicken and garlice bread. Dinner also came with a salad with choice of dressings. I would have never stepped into this place on my own, but one of friends wanted to meet here for dinner and I am glad did. The place seemed a little sketchy from the outside when I first pulled up into the parking lot and even once I was seated I was still thinking the same thing. The place looks like something right out of the 1970s with absolutely no updates at all, but it seems that the money is placed into the quality of the food which is a valued asset for the restaurant.

Soooooo, I’m a native Washingtonian & I remember seeing this place when my family and I would visit Capital Plaza(yup, dating myself) but we never visited this place, but awwww man were we missing out. My first time was a little bit before Thanksgiving 2014… yea, I know I’m late but better late than never, right, lol Entrées I have tasted the crab and shrimp alfredo, best I’ve had thus far! Huge chunks of crab meat and shrimp; you won’t be disappointed. I also tried their pizza and fell in love. I think the pizza is better than Ledo’s. I did try their crab cakes and I wasn’t really impressed but they were not bad… just more filler than I’m used too. I did like the fries, golden brown and crispy! Appetizers Calamari is tasty! It’s lightly fried and seasoned well. The mussels are delicious too. Buffalo wings are winner! I have never tried their desserts as the portion amount is so large there is never enough room for dessert. Prices are not bad either! All in all, I do recommend this spot & if you happen to see me in there, say wut up!

Italian Inn is located just off of the Baltimore Washington Parkway and very easy to get too. The parking lot and sign is dimly lit and nothing screaming for your attention so you could very easily drive past it but it’s located right between the Holiday Inn and the gas station(sorry I didn’t get the name). From the outside this restaurant doesn’t look all that«welcoming» and you would probably think twice about coming in but I promise you if you give them a try you will 1) be back soon and 2) not be disappointed. When you walk up you will notice that there are 2 entrances. 1 for the bar and 1 for the dining area. I was dining in so I went through the dining area door. When I walked in the first thing I noticed was the modern Italy style décor and the subtle Italian music serenading you in the background. Shortly we were greeted and showed to a seat. It was a Tuesday night around 9pm and it wasn’t crowded at all. Our waitress(Fern) came over immediately and took drink orders. I noticed that they didn’t have a drink menu so I asked about it and was told«I could order whatever I want and they would see what they could do». I LIKETHAT! I guess considering the bar is right next door; this was a no biggie. Ok, so I choose Pink Moscato or Apple Martini. I got the Apple Martini because they didn’t have Pink Moscato. My Apple Martini was refreshingly delicious and I had 2. Would’ve kept ordering more if I didn’t have to go to work the next day LOL Can you tell I’ll be back for drinks? ;-) Here’s what I ordered: Fried Calamari with Marinara Sauce — EXCELLENT! Cooked perfectly. Flash fried, it was great. Asked for a lemon to spritz on top. Steamed Mussels in White Wine Sauce — DELICIOUS! Clean, no grit. Seasoning was on point! Had a good lemon pepper/white wine type of taste. Chicken Parmagiano — Very good. I tasted a small bit of my friend’s plate but needless to say she almost bit my hand LOL cause her food was so good. I swear at one point I thought she was inhaling her food LOL Crab and Shrimp Alfredo with Garlic Bread — HOMECOOKED is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this dish. I don’t know who the cook is(I will be finding out next time I’m there which will be very soon) but honey chile s/he knows how to cook. The Alfredo was most definitely made from scratch and the rest of the ingredients must have been peace, love, happiness with a side of his leg or something LMAO seriously it was that damn good! HUGE chunks of crab meat, plenty of shrimp, balanced absolutely perfectly with the pasta. Even the garlic bread was awesome and I’m thinking that may be homemade too. Man it was hella good! Minestrone Soup — This was my least favorite but definitely WILLNOTSTOPME from going back. It tasted like it was missing a seasoning I just couldn’t put my finger on and entirely too many chick peas for me. I personally don’t care for chick peas and if I’d known beforehand they were in there I would’ve gotten another kind of soup or side dish. All of my dishes were very well priced. Competitive pricing for homemade food. No complaints from me! Customer Service: My waitress name is Fern. She was wonderful! Very attentive but not overbearing. I gave her a really nice tip to show my appreciation and the manager came over to ask me if I meant to tip her that much. LOL Now, I point this out for mainly one reason. The manager taking the time out to come to me and verify that I definitely meant to put that tip on there was extremely professionally courteous and very much appreciated. Shows a lot about how they go about their business… IT’S NOTALLABOUTTHEMONEY(all the time)! KEEPYOURCUSTOMERSHAPPY! While my experience was great and I will be back sooner rather than later, I do have a few suggestions. Update the menu and add pictures of the dishes. The name and description for every single dish can be a little exhausting and over whelming. Would be nice to see pictures of these yummy home made dishes along with suggestions of wine. This is an Italian place right? Create a drink menu. Maybe a specialty cocktail called«Italian Inn» or something like that. This restaurant has been around for over 50 years surely they deserve a signature cocktail! The parking lot is very well lit on the side but the main sign could be a lot more attractive and enticing. Update the sign. I’m not saying change the picture, wording, etc. I’m saying liven it up a bit. Brighten up the place. Bring more attention to this hidden gem! If the manager reads this please reach out to me. I know an excellent sign company that will help you refurbish your sign AND have suggestions on other signage if you are interested. I can also help redesign your menu. Until next time Italian Inn… thank you for the wonderful authentic experience! Buon appetito!!!

The Italian Inn is a lot of fun. This old-school Prince Georges’ establishment is a step back in time, where diners stop at other tables on their way out to say goodbye to old friends. The menu is fairly limited, and while my veal parm was decent but not the best I’ve ever had, there’s something so lovable about the 60s décor, the exuberantly friendly service, and getting a soup or salad, side of spaghetti, and garlic bread included with every meal.
