Yellow Cab of Lancaster

This cab company is pathetic. During the recent snow storm I called and asked if they were open. The dispatcher told me they would be up and running after the driving ban was lifted. I called back 5:30 that evening and was told that they would come for me in about 45 minutes, and that the cab driver would call me when he arrived. They never came and when I called them and hour and a half after my pick-​up time they were «not accepting calls.» I had to walk the 11 blocks home in the snow.
Three days later I stupidly called on them again to come and get me at the train station. They had a hour to get there, but when I stepped out of the station, there was no cab waiting. One by one everyone was picked up by other cabs, friends, and family. I called and the dispatcher who said he made a mistake entering the information, but a cab would be there shortly.
I decided to mention that they had blown me off on Saturday and now again. He was full of excuses, and no apologies. I told him they were unprofessional and the least they could have done was to called me back to let me know they were not able to make it on Saturday. A few minutes past, and still no cab arrived. I felt like a fool.
There were 4 other cabs parked nearby and I took one of them instead. I advise anyone who needs a ride to call Lancaster City Cabs, or Über. As we were driving away Yellow Cabs was blowing up my phone to let me know they had arrived. I ignored those calls and texts, and will never call on them again.

This cab company is awful. Inconsiderate and not reliable. We reserved a cab for 6pm and James said they would be on time to the Doubletree resort to pick us up. Well we are still waiting. Our show (Moses) starts at 630. I am sooo disappointed. I would never recommend this place. They are still giving us the run around.

Yellow Cab is the only game in town. They will get you to your destination — if you would like to wait an hour.
I called Yellow Cab on a Saturday night at 11:00 PM from the Lancaster, PA train station to go home. I was told by the nice dispatcher that there would be a 35 minute wait. She said the cab driver would call my cell once he arrived.
A cab pulled up 27 minutes later and took a group of six college students who called the company after me. No phone call was made to my cell phone. At 11:40 PM, I called the dispatcher back, and she admitted that the college students took the cab that was meant for me. At 11:50 PM, a cab arrived for the husband and wife that called after me. The driver said my name was not on his list.
I walked in the door of my apartment at Midnight when my cell phone rang. Another cab driver called me and asked where I was and if I still needed a cab. I explained that I was now home and that another driver assisted me. This annoyed the person on the phone, and he hung up.
I am NOT impressed.

I just have to share that my boyfriend and I had the WORST experience with Yellow Cab. We were planning a night out of dinner and drinks, so we did the responsible thing and wanted to take a cab. We had dinner reservations at 7pm so we wanted to be picked up at 6:30pm to give us enough time. I purposely called Yellow Cab at 5:30 (a whole hour ahead of time) to set up a pick up for 6:30. 6:30 comes and goes, 6:45 comes and goes, I call back and the not very pleasant dispatcher Alex let me know that the cab driver was on his way. Finally, the driver arrives at 6:50…already pretty angry and upset that we are running late for our dinner reservation, we get in the cab and I just wanted confirm that he accepts credit cards since they advertise on their main webpage that they do. We have used Yellow Cab in the past and used a credit card many times. He states «no it’s broken…» Like are you kidding me? So you are 20 minutes late and now you tell me that your credit card machine is broken… I asked what he could do for us and he stated that he could call another cab to come pick us up. Maybe if he were on time this could have been an option, but no. Since he was already 20 minutes late after I had called a whole hour ahead of time, we just decided to drive ourselves. I call back Alex and ask to speak to a manager or supervisor. He states that he is the only one there. I express my concern and let him know how upset I am about our experience with Yellow Cab. He had nothing to say, nothing to offer me, just said «sorry.» I am in the customer service industry and there is always something to do or say to make the customer feel better or fix the situation. I also questioned him why it was so hard to get through when calling and also why the driver was almost 30 minutes late and on a Thursday night to boot! He stated «People are getting their tax returns and they want to go out shopping» Really Alex, how many people are out on shopping sprees at 7pm on a Thursday night. Not the right thing to say to me when I am already upset. He just seemed very uninterested and didn’t really care what I had to say. I let him know that I was going to write this review so when he sees it, he should not be surprised.
As a whole I am very disappointed and upset with Yellow Cab. I understand that they are the only Cab Company in Lancaster but I plan to never use them again. A company should pride themselves on great customer service, efficiency, and being able to get the job done, and I am sad to say that Yellow Cab can do none of these things.

Last Friday, I called requesting a cab to pick up four of us after a dinner, at 9:30 pm. The fellow taking my call was attentive and helpful. At 9:15 the driver called my cell to check the address. He arrived at exactly 9:30! Clean cab. Well spoken, polite driver.

Agree with those who feel a second cab company /​competition is needed. At Amtrak station in middle of day. Told cab will be right here and over 32 minutes later I’m still waiting. Just don’t lie to me. Will make other arrangements in future.

Sadly, in Lancaster, the Yellow Cab of Lancaster is the only cab service available. I hear that there used to be another cab service called Friendly (?) cab, but Yellow Cab bought that out. Because Yellow Cab has a monopoly, it charges a ridiculous base amount of $ 5 for the service! Ridiculous!
