I’ve raised this to a 4.
They were nice enough to address my concerns. I really wish it didn’t have to get to the point that I had to blow up social media.

Buyer beware! I have been on the receiving end of suspect billing practices and very poor customer service.
I recently had my internet service modem upgraded. While going through the process of updating all my electronic devices I encountered an issue with the cameras. The option to search for a new wifi connection would not function and I received an error message advising me to contact customer service.
I was informed by customer service that a technician MUST be sent out to reconfigure the camera as the user is unable to make these changes on their own with the cameras Select Security sold me. The tech came at the appointed time, removed the cameras, connected them to the modem and had to call a service line to have the cameras reconfigured.
A week later I received a bill for $ 124.00. I called customer service, explained the above issue and was told I must pay these charges despite the fact that the customer is unable to make these changes on their own. The billing representative even confirmed these changes cannot be made by the customer with the technician. I was never told I could be billed prior to setting up an appointment. I was then told I was actually given a credit for the labor. I informed the billing representative that this credit is not reflected on the bill as the credit portion is marked zero. Maria, an alleged manager who refused to let me speak with anyone else in regards to the bill, tells me she will send me a new bill with a higher labor rate and I will have to pay more! Her attitude was frankly disgusting, being that this is the company that I am somehow now supposed to trust with the security of my home. I no longer have faith that my family and my property are being properly monitored. I have the sick feeling that they are looking out for their bottom line, not me.
This unfortunately is the latest, and hopefully last, issue I have had since the inception of this service.
Feel free to read on in regards to the prior issues:
1. I was initially told I would receive a promotion in which the hardware was free. This was reflected in a contract. I was called back and told that promotion was no longer available. In good faith, I did not sign that contract and accepted a new contract with a promotion that was not on par with the previous one (My mistake.)
2. A friend referred me. As part of the referral he was to receive a $ 100 gift card. He’s still waiting.
3. The installation took 6 hours, instead of 2. We received little to no instruction on how to operate the system or how to navigate the website. We were not even told that there were tutorial videos available. The technician set up the alarm as a perimeter alarm. Every time the alarm was active and a door opened the alarm went off. We had to set up another appointment to fix it because they didn’t bother to show us how to use the system or even check it before they left.
4. The exterior camera only worked intermittently. After another appointment, I purchased a wifi extender as told. The camera still did not operate. It was not till I insisted they replace the camera that the issue was resolved.
5. The new camera was not affixed to the mounting plate. It was mounted directly into the brick of my home with the wiring leading from the plate, which is used to conceal the wiring, along the brick to the camera. When I brought up the fact that it could be cut, I was told «well you will have the person’s face on camera…» Never mind them emptying my house of its contents or them dragging away my daughter (We installed the cameras due to a serial child predator going after kids at our bus stops)

When their system decides to do so, it goes off all day for no reason. It makes for a great work environment. Even better, they can’t get someone out until the following day to check on it. I tried contacting them one day and Operator 23 could not pull his head out of his… I mean pull up the account information. I asked for the Morgantown, WV office, dialed the number and someone transferred me right back to Operator 23. So I called the number again, and pleaded to not be transferred. They explained to me they were the Texas office. So they gave me a new number and I got Operator 23 again! IDIOTS!!!

I’ve always been pleased with their service, and they’ve never let me down.
I have their system in my home and like that I can control everything from my phone or computer. They put in the entire system, with the door lock and garage door opener control, in about 2 hours and made sure I knew how to work it before they left.
We liked it so much that we added a camera last week. They are also quick to respond when I set off the alarm accidentally. It makes us feel safe knowing they are there if needed.

We were away on vacation. Fire alarm went off. A small fire started in an outlet in the basement. It was put out before it caused too much damage! Our neighbor was called and let the firemen in. Follow up calls from Select to make sure everything was ok and check if we needed anything. Great service!
