History

Established in 1954.

In 1954, the late George Grove, Sr. founded what would become George J. Grove & Son, Inc. He was one of Lancaster County’s first home improvement service companies. Over time the company came to specialize in exterior home improvement. The business began in George Sr.‘s home, with one pickup truck and George Sr. as the sole proprietor and only employee.

George J. Grove, Jr. entered the business at a very early age, assisting his father and grandfather, Cleon Grove, Sr. The business moved from George Sr.‘s home to a shop in Lancaster’s Cabbage Hill neighborhood, and has been at its current Manheim Pike location since 1978.

For years, Grove and Son’s sales staff could be seen driving around in El Camino company cars. The business still maintains a fleet of these classic vehicles, which you can see in front of the Manheim Pike location.

George J. Grove, Jr. is President of George J. Grove & Son, Inc., which has been meeting Lancaster’s home improvement needs for over 50 years. George Jr. started in the family business at an early age, learning the trade from his father, George Sr., and grandfather, Cleon Grove. George Jr. now leads a company that is dedicated to providing quality products and to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

In keeping with the family tradition, George Senior’s grandchildren — George Grove III, Justin Grove, and Lindsay Grove — entered the business at a very early age, continuing the company’s dedication to quality products and personal service to this day.
