Specialties
We are a Lancaster Bed and Breakfast located in a rural area, yet only ½ mile from Route 30, where we aim to provide a comfortable and peaceful lodging option. We have 3 rooms with your choice of a room with a canopy bed, a fireplace, or a 2-person jacuzzi. Our B&B is on 1 1⁄3 acres of landscaped beauty «where thoughtfulness and hospitality bloom.» A hearty country breakfast is provided at 8:30 each morning.
History
Established in 1994.
The house was originally built in 1941. Local Amish carpenters built the farmhouse style home for a Mennonite family with 5 children. When they sold, we bought the property and raised our family here before we undertook a major renovation — adding central air and bathrooms for each bedroom and a large airy Gathering Room with vaulted ceilings where we serve our guests their hearty country breakfast.
Meet the Business Owner
Ruth and Don H.
Business Owner
We both were raised on farms. After our marriage, Don worked as parts manager for a farm machinery store, and then went into home appliance installation. Ruth worked as a bookkeeper before marriage and then was a stay-at-home Mom, but did payroll/bookkeeping when the children were in school. She also worked part-time at a greenhouse during those years.
We enjoy traveling and we’ve spent time heading to Texas and Wyoming to see our 2 children and their families. Flowers and gardening are Ruth’s enjoyment. She also loves reading cookbooks and cooking/baking. Scrap booking is an enjoyment but is only when time permits – which isn’t often enough. Don loves to refurbish and refinish furniture. His love of woodworking is evidenced throughout the house. He also enjoys reading. Both of us enjoy tandem biking. especially on rails trails.
