Specialties

Stop by the NEW Character’s for a fresh new culinary experience-sourced from our very own Lancaster County!

History

Established in 2004.

Character’s Pub was established in 2004 by George Centini and Gary Hufford. In 2011, Character’s was taken over by Chef Meghan Young. While a few of the tried-and-true favorites have remained the same, there have been quite a few changes made.

Meghan has returned home to bring her own personal style and passion for cuisine to Lancaster City. With a true emphasis on local and sustainable products Character’s supports local businesses wherever possible. The menu changes with the seasons and brings to the guest the very best our area has to offer in a quaint and elegant setting. Our goal is to give comfortable service, expertly prepared food and drinks and the very best experience possible to each and every one of our guests.

Meet the Business Owner

Meghan Y.

Business Owner

A native of Lancaster and a graduate of McCaskey High School, Chef Meghan Young got her training under top chefs in London and New York. Previously of Dos Caminos, Soho in New York City, Chef Young returned home for the chance to own their first restaurant. Chef Young’s passion for cooking was ignited at an early age by her mother and both grandmothers, though she never imagined she would make a career of it. After attending Baltimore International College, Young worked at a few local restaurants including the Historic Strasburg Inn before jumping across the pond to work for Master Chef Mark Gregory at London’s acclaimed Axis. In 2002 Young returned stateside to accept a position at New York’s Hotel Plaza Athenee, Followed by Park East Grill and then on to Rosa Mexicano where Young traveled to open and operate restaurants in New York, Atlanta and Palm Beach before moving to Dos Caminos for the BR Guest Restaurant group, and now finally Character’s.
