We did the General Admission house tour and self guided farm tour. Our guide Jamie was fantastic! They gave great information about the Amish and Mennonite communities. The farm was beautiful and everyone was very friendly. Loved all the farm animals and things to see. I would highly recommend this tour.

I will say that this could have been a much better experience if it was a smaller tour. We arrived for the 3:45 tour and they were selling tickets up until the very end. The house has small rooms and should be able to accomodate those on the tour. We could hardly see all the items in the room because people were standing in front of everything. It was also difficult to focus due to all of the children making noises, crying out, etc. There were also two people on crutches which alowed down the tour a bit not to mention was a huge liability. In any event, we found the tour guide himself to be knowledgable but a bit subjective in his views. I would have preferred to learn without some of the remarks he made. Overall, very interesting. I wish the tour expanded to the outside self guided tour areas and offered some of the bus tours in the evening or even having things staged (pre-​arranged) to see the families, farms, etc.

It was a nice house tour. My son loved the animals and my wife is fascinated by the Amish lifestyle. Great experience. Salute from Queens New York !!

The Amish Farm & House is open 7 days a week. Tours run for 45 minutes each hour and tickets are $ 9.25 per person. If you’re expecting to see an actual farm, you might want to pick a different place. This is more of a museum. A museum that’s located right next to a Target. But overall, the tour was pretty informative.
Plus you can walk around and explore the grounds for as long as you want, after the tour. They have farm animals you can buy feed for, but that’s about the closest to a farm as it is. They also have some scooters that Amish people use, you can try out. I was hoping to ride in a buggy, like I read about for other attractions but they didn’t have that here. This was also the only place that was open on Sundays, which is why we settled for the Amish Farm & House.

I enjoyed this! A perfect stop for just a half-​day in the area. Our tour guide was thoughtful and funny and told us all about Amish life. I really didn’t mind paying ten bucks to get a glimpse of life on the farm and to get to know our tour group. The house is clean and welcoming; and the tour has a good logical flow. You walk through the rooms and then are free to romp around outside. My favorite rooms were the prayer room (can you imagine relying on that stove for warmth!?) and also the bedrooms. The outdoors is fun and I had fun playing with Millie and giving her treats. What a cutie! It’s been a while since I stopped in. I wonder if she’ll still be around so I can make another trip.

I have to say I really enjoyed the house tour. Our guide Ken was very informative and he made it interesting. I thought I knew a lot about the Amish, but I learned so much more from him. His ancestors were Mennonites who came here over 300 years ago and he had so much information. I could have listened to him for hours.
Afterwards we did our self guided tour of the farm which was also fun. Strange thing is that a target is right next door to it.
I would recommended taking the tour. I know they also give bus tours, but do not know how they are.

I am born and raised in Lancaster, PA and I don’t ever remember coming to this place and after coming here I can see why. The tour is $ 9.25 a person and really all that gets you is a «tour» of an Amish house… you learn about them by walking into 3 rooms. After, you get to walk around a miniature farm with animals, a schoolhouse, blacksmith shop and a giftshop.
The animals were fun to feed but our tour guide was a bit snippy and I personally didn’t really care for this whole experience.
It’s a classic definition of a tourist trap and I would save your money.
The Amish are a great people so you could learn just as much by driving around, talking with them and googling their history.

The «Countryside Bus Tour» is an informative introduction to Amish life. You should definitely do it if this is your first time visiting Amish Country. The bus driver is your tour guide. During the 90 minutes ride, our driver gave us facts about the Amish, including their customs, lifestyle and food.
During the tour, we made several stops at Amish stands and shops for lemonade, crafts and other homemade foods. I took fliers and bookmarked those places on Unilocal so I can stop there again later. My ticket also included the One-​Room School tour, which showed how Amish kids all go to class together. Another interesting fact is that the bathroom is outside the main room.
The Amish Farm & House itself is a store where you can shop for gifts and souvenirs.

Pros:
— Dog-​friendly– dogs are allowed on the grounds and even on the «house tour» which is actually just a guide telling you what the different buildings are.
Cons:
— Customer service– not the friendliest receptionist. Had to ask specifically about directions/​tours/​etc. Touring the farm I encountered only one person who seemed to work there, which was very odd when I needed to report goats had escaped their pens (see farm animals below).
— Authenticity– this did not seem like an operating farm to me, but a museum of some old farm buildings and a few cute animals. This place reminded me of that movie The Village. Inside you sometimes felt you were possibly on an Amish farm only to glance up and notice the visible cars on the highway or the parking lot right next door or the shopping center that surrounds the place. Was bizarre and really took away from any feeling that you were in a rural farm area. The only Amish people I saw were several kids who seemed to be killing time waiting for someone.
— Location– this place was difficult to find, mostly because I did not anticipate it would be tucked in between a Target store and a shopping mall. I was shocked at its location and I literally parked in the Target parking lot to get to the entrance. This really took away from the authentic experience this could have been. Note to future guests: yes, you must turn into the Target or drive around back of it to get to the Amish Farm and House.

Cost– only $ 18 for 2 people but I’m not certain it was quite worth it.
Farm animals– the animals are cute and curious and there are a good amount of them. There is an eclectic assortment: nanny goats, regular goats, llamas, chickens, turkeys, donkeys, sheep, pigs, one miniature horse, pheasant, and even peafowl (peacock and peahen). You can even pay a quarter for some food to feed the animals. However, I’m not convinced this place takes great care of their animals which was evidenced by the fact that a minimum of three small nanny goats somehow had escaped their pen and were wandering amongst the guests. Many people were petting the wandering goats and one child picked up one of the goats several times not so gently. I had to go all the way back to where I entered the facility to find someone to report the escaped goats and upon doing so the staff did not seem alarmed or in any way anxious to remedy the situation. I do not like to patronize places that do not even attempt to provide their animals with the best treatment available.
Bottom line– this is not at all what I expected it to be. If you need to kill time with your dog before checking in to a hotel (which is what I was doing) it might be worth the $ 9 entrance fee. Otherwise, go on a buggy tour that takes you to an actual Amish farm where a family is actually living and working operating the farm.

Went here after reading Unilocal reviews and was in agreement with most of the reviews. Cost was not too much and we were pleased with the experience. For the cost it was informative. The visit took about an hour and a half or so. Just a brief exposure to the Amish life. I would recommend it but not necessarily go back. It was worth the experience once.

I’m a Lancaster native and I went on the bus tour with two visiting friends. I can say the tour was as informative for me as it was them. They ate up the countryside and Amish farms in mid-​summer and I loved the informed commentary on areas I previously knew very little about. Dale was a phenomenal guide, knowledgable, kind, and seamless in his presentation. We stopped spontaneously at an Amish roadside stand and a covered bridge where we talked about crops and Amish farms. I assume we didn’t stop at any stores or shops because our tour started in the evening, causing it to not feel like a «tourist trap» at all. Dale was authentically interested in sharing everything he knew about the history and contemporary culture of the Amish. It was a fair presentation of the Lancaster I’ve known for 27 years and I would really recommend this tour for someone looking for a low-​key, air-​conditioned and informative tour of beautiful Lancaster county.

You hear a story about Amish, see the farm, some work shops in the farm.
It takes about 2 – 2.5 hours to see and explore.

Visited here during MLK weekend. Despite the rain and the cold, I had a fantastic time. The staff was so friendly it was refreshing. Coming from DC where people aren’t accommodating and overly entitled, this place was relaxing and informative. Modestly priced at $ 18 for two people, you get a tour of the house and a brief history on the Amish, how they’ve assimilated to modern times, and the differences between Amish and Mennonites. The farm was a joy despite the weather. It’s great to see animals being taken care of so well. The goats were a favorite of mine, friendly and active.
It’s important to note that we came at a time when no tours were available and we were told to wait an hour and a half for the next tour; so we decided to wait. The lady at the front desk went to her supervisor as I toured the gift shop and then she came and told me that the supervisor would be glad to give us a tour right away. In a world where this type of customer service is nearly extinction, this action alone had me over the moon. Overall, I was very pleased not just with the grounds and the history, but the staff as a whole. Well done.

Just took the 90 minute bus tour with wife and our two kids. We all enjoyed the tour. The bus driver was very informative and it was truly a great experience. I would definitely do the bus tour again. Lancaster was beautiful.

Our tour guide was a retired school teacher, and he was quite informative and answered any questions at the end. You have about an hour tour around the Amish house and then your general admission ticket includes a walk around the farm as well. For a person who loves animals, I loved seeing the donkeys and the goats. You can also bring your pup to the farm — the staff loves it and loves introducing them to the goats, especially the newborn. There’s also a cute gift shop inside with a sales section and Amish-​handmade crafts. Definitely a good pit stop if you’re in the Lancaster area.

This is one of the worst and most boring tours I have ever been on. I went on the bus tour and they make you stay on the bus for the entire 90 minutes. The driver/​tourguide was boring and spoke only a few times during the tour. He basically just drove us around the Amish area for 90 minutes. It was hard to take any good pictures confined within the bus. I suggest you just drive around the Amish area yourself and save yourself some money.

I have to agreed with J.S.‘s review… no offense but this place is a tourist trap. I did not choose to come here but the tour guide’s great idea to come here. It coat $ 10 for admissions for adults.
We had a tour and the Guide told me that everyone is English… o_​_​O. She told us how this place came to be because of the founder. On the first floor she showed us the place of worship and that Amish do not go to church and that they pray at home and that they marry their own cousins. She also said that they mostly eat chow chow and she showed the large stove that they use. Upstairs were the girls room– she showed us the girl outfits and how when they get married and the wedding dress which was blue with a white apron. The boys room, baby room, and then the master bed room and there was a casket in the room next door.
It was informative and you do get an understanding of Amish life. There is also a gift shop where they sell license plate with names, other nic nacks, bracelets, quits, and keychains (One of them says I love Intercourse — it’s the name of the place). Outside there’s a cucumber pump and blacksmith shed as well as a shed with a live goat in it. There is also a cow. This place is next to Target.

We loved this place, especially the highly informative tour that we got. While the house is nothing special, I still think it’s a great place for kids to explore and also lots of animals to see. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and debunked many misconceptions about the Amish way of life. I’ll gladly recommend this tour to anyone who’s looking to do this type of tourist attraction. Kind of ironic that it’s next to a huge Target store!
