Wahoo’s Fish Tacos

The 2C with blackened fish is my goto meal for the last 17 years. I’ve had it at least 500 time and is by far my favorite lunch spot for simple, Suttle and clean food.

That a «fast food» venue is at 4 stars after almost 50 reviews says something. Some thing (s) positive.
Wahoo’s is unique. Definitely several notches above Taco Bell and Del Taco. Different from Chipotle (thank heavens for that!), Qdoba and that ilk. Fast food-​like in that you order at the counter, get your own beverage, and take a number to your table. They serve you when your order is ready. On real dishes. With real silverware. Adult beverages (beer and wine) available.
The atmosphere is bright and pleasant. Kind of like a shack on the beach. Even when it’s snowing like you know what and 20 below outside. And the nearest beach is Sloan’s Lake or a thousand miles away.
Service has always been good. Timely, pleasant and helpful with ordering at the counter. Timely delivery of our orders. By polite and pleasant servers.
Menu is a bit different. In a positive sense. Other options available, of course, but salads, tacos, burritos and enchiladas prevail. Multiple proteins to choose from. Fish (duh) — shrimp, salmon and wahoo. Also chicken, carnitas, and carne asada. And, egads, tofu and fajita vegetables. Ala carte or as meals with beans and rice.
Food quality is quite good. My personal favorite — # 2 Combo with Cajun salmon fish taco and Cajun salmon enchilada. And rice and beans. For $ 7.99. Scream’n Burrito with Cajun chicken and spicy green and chili sauces is also good. For $ 5.99. Burritos are good but less unique. Kind of Qdoba like. Unless you use good judgment and order them with Cajun salmon as your protein. I noticed another Unilocaler referencing calamari. I haven’t seen that on the menu, but I’ll be all over it when I do. Remember, it’s Wahoo’s FISH tacos.

Bottom line — a legitimate 4 stars. 40-​some of your Unilocaler buddies wouldn’t lead you astray.

Let me start of by saying my 2 star rating is for this location only as I have experienced far better at the Colorado Blvd and Boulder locations. This location is rather slow in getting your food out to you and maybe that was because it was anniversary night and they were giving free tacos but I feel like it’s just commonplace here as the restaurant cleared out fairly quickly from the early evening rush as we arrived and still it was slow. Also be sure you drink plenty of water, the food is loaded with salt. Trust me I know Mexican food can be salty and my girl and I thought it was just her dish but upon trying my dish also (two separate food items) they were both equally sodium loaded. Will we be back to Wahoo’s? Of course… will we be back to this particular location… nope.

This location misses the mark for me… friendly enough but it took about twenty five minutes for our food to come out and when it did, the whole meal was a salt bomb. The delicious cilantro lime sauce tasted, well, like salt. As did the black beans. And the brown rice was a touch crunchy. Don’t think I’ll be back to this particular location.

The food was great but getting what we ordered was a challenge. I had to remind the girl that brought our food to us that we ordered chips and queso. Then she brought it.
Apparently the kitchen was having an off day. Didn’t get what we ordered. Then the kitchen manager doesn’t want to remake the burrito because they’ve had to remake three already today? Not my problem. Make it right.
After talking to a cashier for the 2^nd time, I got a refund.
We LOVE us some Wahoo’s Fish Tacos but this visit was not what we are used to.

If you could only eat lunch at one place for the rest of your life, this would be the place. Original taste, and healthy too

It’s a nice laid back place to eat. The food is average or above average. Be sure to get the Queso and then let it sit for a while and become solid. It tastes like handi snack cheese. So awesome.
The fish tacos are great, and the calamari tacos are the best. If you’re into stinky sea animals, be sure to check that out.
Outdoor seating offers a nice view of the side of a building in Denver. Overall would recommend.

I walk in at 11:30am for lunch. There’s a dude at the counter and he asks me if I want a chimichanga. He claims it’s the best but only to get it if I want a nap later. I told him I would take it.
I sit down and a few minutes later it arrives. It’s ginormous and smothered in what appeared to be enchilada sauce. I dug in and was amazed at the flavor. I couldn’t stop eating even though I know I should have taken some home. I was stuffed and felt pretty good.
BAM! An hour later I almost fell asleep at my desk. I knew that dude was going to be right. I had to take a five minute power nap.
Keep up the good work! You have some good food, I will be back!

Great food and atmosphere!!! The service was quick. I had shrimp tacos and they were great!

For fast food this place is good. Good fish tacos and alright quesadillas. If you need a quick inexpensive bite this is a good place to go.

It really sad. This place has gone down on their service drastically. I am allergic to cilantro and I tell them that every time I order. Tha last time i was here The brought my order and it had cilantro on it. I told them I ordered no cilantro. They took it back scrapped off the sauce with the cilantro then put the cabbage I asked for and brought it back. I ate one taco and realized what they had done. I took my plate to the register and told them they got my order wrong. The manager that day said that he was sorry did give me a refund and told me that they had had a lot of new hires.
I decided to give this location another chance unfortunately they got my order wrong again. I told the girl to take it back and make sure to fully redo the tacos. She did with an attitude. She returned with a fresh plate and the food was good. They really need to train all their staff to listen to clients and how to read an order board correctly.

My wife & I come here whenever we are looking for a light option for lunch or dinner. Walk up to the counter, place your order, grab your drinks and post your order number on the table. They are always on top of things and your food arrives very quickly.
Usually we have the fish tacos with beans and rice, always a great option. Squeeze a little lime on the slaw, sooo good.
This time we opted for the bowls, I had the grilled fish bowl and my wife had the Cajun chicken bowl. Pretty much the taco plate without the corn tortillas, a great slab of grilled fish on top of rice and beans with some poco on the side and a squeeze of lime. We actually split our bowls, I gave her half of my fish and I took half of her chicken, the chicken had great Cajun seasoning and brought a little spice to my bowl. If you’re reading wahoos, combo bowl! You’re welcome.

This is a great place to go for tacos in Lakewood. I ordered a salmon fajita burrito and it was AWESOME! It was huge and tasty! What more could I ask for. It also had lots beans and other veggies. I like that they serve beer but I wish they had a better selection. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. The outdoor patio is pretty amazing also.

If you like taco truck style tacos your in the right place. Moved from California and drove by this place plenty of times thinking it was some chain. Finally went in and have been 3 times in a week. Glad I went in, it took me back to my summer days in so cal. Somewhat reminded me of a burrito shop in bend Oregon too. I recommend this place to anyone who likes flavor! Chill vibe

Wahoos is really good if your group is split between healthy and comfort food! The bowls they offer are delicious, and the seasonings are on point! The atmosphere is pretty nice here and the patio is pretty quiet for being next to such a busy road. This is a great place to grab lunch with work buddies and eat some delicious food.

All of the food here is so delicious, I eat here often and have not had anything I didn’t enjoy yet. The margaritas is prob my fave thing they got to offer. Love the vibes and atmosphere wahoos has to bring. I love bringing in my own stickers and slapping them up. Great happy hour and great costumer service. If you haven’t been yet, you should check it out soon!

Carnitas & cajun wahoo tacos were both yummy & fresh. Adequate cilantro and slaw.
Friendly service, catchy music, & fresh tea. Winning!

Checked out this place for lunch. I guess it’s a chain in California — my Californian friends are in love with it so I went with them. I got the smothered cajun wahoo burrito. My burrito was humongous! It could practically feed 2 people. I wasn’t crazy about the green sauce on top — it was cilantro cream based and just wasn’t my jam. The fish inside the burrito was very good and had huge pieces. Overall, my feeling about the burrito — eh. I can see how people would like it but just not my thing, I guess. I also got the queso to start — really loved that. But the chips were so salty I had to shake the salt off of them. Not cool. Overall, if you like California style fish tacos you’ll probably like it, just wasn’t my thing. Service was great though.
