Nathan and Sean were both so awesome!!! Their detailed approach to examining every detail prevented me from having to incur over $ 20k in repair costs that I might not have otherwise recognized! Their report was comprehensive and included pictures of any concern area they found. In this market when everything is a bidding war, a reliable inspection is key! I am so grateful for the job they did and will certainly use them again!

I stand by my 5 star review of the inspectors that did the house inspection. They were fantastic. However, the Sewer Scope done by another employee did not reveal 2 breaks in the sewer pipe and it caused major headaches after we closed on the house. The owner was horrible to deal with and made all kinds of excuses as to why it was not his company’s fault. He said he’d consult his lawyer. Atrocious behavior. Bottom line: I paid to have them uncover issues in the sewer line — there were 2 breaks that weren’t discovered.

Nathan was incredibly thorough, helpful, and knowledgeable. His detailed inspection reports helped us feel confident that we knew exactly what we were getting in our home purchase. We recently sold two properties and purchased another and Safe Investment was by far the best inspection group we worked with. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a home.

Jamal was the inspector assigned to the property, and he, along with Shanna, did a fantastically thorough inspection of the house!
Way friendly and helpful, they explained everything to me that they were doing, along with practical, real advice on the things that needed attention.
They had an array of high-​tech phone-​attachment gadgets that measured heat and moisture and whatever; their use of technology really helped to assure me that they wanted to be as efficient and thorough as possible.
And the report — I’ve never seen such a well detailed document ever from any industry that was as accessible and easy to read.

The State of Colorado has very lax restrictions on who can operate as a home inspector in the State. With that being said I did a lot of research before hiring Safe Investments, based on their positive reviews I decided to go with them. Jeff was the inspector who showed up to our house, he was very knowledgeable and thorough in his inspection and his subsequent report surpassed my expectations. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for a Home Inspection.

Flat out a great choice and a great experience. Being first time home buyers we were inexperienced and a little nervous with the overall process of buying a home. We did a lot of research on who to hire and what services to acquire, read tons of reviews and were picky picky picky. After reading searching and reviewing, we thought Nathan Fairchild was the man for the inspection job. And boy were we right!
He was thorough, educational and very passionate about his job. He was objective and pointed every little detail out. With the knowledge and experience he provided to us we were able to negotiate our contract and eliminate some serious issues. His report was concise and had improvement suggestions. Not only did we know what the issues were but also how to fix them and prevent further damages from occurring.
In addition to the home inspection we ordered a radon test and thank goodness we did! The radon levels were high and thanks to tangible test results the seller agreed to install a radon fan to keep us safe and healthy.

We are in the middle of buying a new house. We had a horrible experience with our last home inspector so we did some research. We found SIHI through google, he had excellent reviews. Nathan arrived on time and started right away. He walked my husband through the whole inspection, telling him what was what and what needed to be fixed and how. Overall, the inspection went very smoothly. I would definitely recommend SIHI to future home buyers.

I hired Safe Investment Home Inspections (SIHI) for a residential home inspection, radon test, & sewer scope test for a home I was under contract to purchase. The radon test required that someone from SIHI enter the premises a day early to set up the test as Nathan Fairchild, the inspector/​owner, informed me that the test needed to run for 24 hours.
For the most part, the inspection ran smoothly. It took place on 16 July 2014. However, when we got to the radon test in the basement, Nathan noted that the radon mitigation system inside the basement had not been switched on prior to the test. Thus the radon levels were elevated and the home failed the radon test. Nathan later turned on the radon mitigator from the outside while he was inspecting the side of the home.
As I was occupied in dealing with an international move, I didn’t press the matter with Nathan that day and did not lodge a complaint with Nathan (that SIHI had failed to flip the switch on the radon mitigation system when they set up the radon test) until after I purchased the home. Nathan contacted me directly and defended himself, stating it was not his responsibility to turn the system on when conducting the test and tried to place the blame on everyone else but himself. (He blamed me, my realtor, and the seller.) I asked SIHI to either conduct the test again with the system turned on, or to refund me the money for the radon test, but Nathan refused.
As I have no expertise when it comes to radon and radon mitigation systems, I felt it was SIHI’s responsibility to ensure they flipped the switch and had things running properly when doing the test. My realtor confirmed that it was the inspector’s duty to ensure the system was turned on after contacting her agency’s attorney & compliance officer and another local home inspection company (Pillar to Post). I also contacted a firm that specializes in radon systems (Advanced Radon Solutions, Inc) and they confirmed to me that they ensure the radon mitigation system is turned on each time they conduct a test. Furthermore, they indicated that SIHI’s 24 hour test was insufficient and noted that a standard radon test should be conducted over a period of at least 48 hours. After presenting all of this information to Nathan, he wouldn’t budge, but became belligerent and insulted my realtor over email.
Nathan told me, «It is not standard operating procedure to search the homes we drop off equipment at, for [radon] mitigation systems.»
Yet in the notice I received from SIHI about the buyer’s responsibilities in preparing for the inspection, there was no indication that I needed to search for and turn on any radon mitigation system. SIHI’s pre-​inspection notice simply asked that buyers ensure that sellers remove items that block access to the attic, electric panel, and water shut-​off valve; and ensure all utilities (gas, water, electric) are turned on.
Nathan also claimed that I had to ensure all of the appliances were turned on– a ridiculous statement as no buyer (or their agent) goes into a home during inspection to turn on the dishwasher, stove, microwave.
After threatening Nathan with a BBB complaint, he stated the following: «go ahead file a complaint or what ever you need to do. I have the evidence and will definitely not give you anything unless I feel this company is at fault. Do not contact me again unless its with a third party or I will file harassment charges on you.»
Nathan acted completely unprofessional in dealing with a simple complaint about his company’s failure to turn on the radon mitigation system when setting up the radon test. As this was not my first home purchase (it was my 5^th), I have experienced several other home inspections and in no other cases have I had to deal with such a belligerent and unprofessional inspector. Both Advanced Radon Solutions and my realtor’s preferred inspector confirmed that it is the inspector’s duty to ensure the radon system is turned on when conducting the radon test.

Nathan’s thoroughness in identifying all the needed work was instrumental knowledge to keep us from over-​paying.
We almost walked on the property since there were so many items, but his ability to explain must-​fixes vs. cosmetic repairs gave us the confidence and leverage to negotiate the seller down by 7%!
I also appreciated Nathan’s light-​hearted, easy-​to-​talk-​to nature, especially amidst the stress inherent with a home-​purchase.
Nathan is my new inspector moving forward and I highly recommend him.

Nathan Fairchild’s (Safe Investment Home Inspections) in-​depth and thorough inspection allowed us to terminate a purchase that would have cost us thousands in post-​purchase repairs and avoid unhealthy levels of radon.
Though the home appeared in very good condition, with many recent upgrades, Nathan supplied an incredibly detailed report of underlying issues which I feel would have been overlooked by many inspectors.
We will certainly be using Safe Investment Home Inspection services again.
