I had the pleasure of getting my hair cut and colored by Larena. I told her my history of terrible bang trims and she assured me that she would fix them. She dyed my hair a rich brown and it came so nice. I was getting compliments all night at my company holiday party!

I’m only giving 2 stars because the hospitality was great! All the girls were very nice and welcoming but when it comes to the service, zero. I went in for a SIMPLE blowout and she pretty much finger dried my hair. You’d think «round brush» «volume» yeah it was pretty bad, my hair was so flat! I could have done it better myself!

I recently went to get my hair cut and colored. It was my second time at the salon and the results were less than ideal. I didn’t want my money back I just wanted my haircut and color adjusted to my liking. Unfortunately, I left several messages for the manager to call me back and she never did. This situation could have been corrected with a little cooperation from the salon but that didn’t happen… I would not recommend Revelations to anyone.

I was hesitant about going here for a pedicure. I had a mediocre massage here a few years ago and I’ve heard not-​so-​good things about Revelations from others. Unfortunately, I had to learn the hard way.
I will start with the positives: I was given almost the full hour so I didn’t feel rushed. She didn’t talk my ear off so I could actually just relax. And she did a nice leg massage. Staff were friendly.
Now for the negatives…
This is the worst salon pedicure I’ve ever gotten. The polish job looks uneven. I am used to leaving a pedicure with that lovely shiny and smooth polish on my toes. The base coat she put must’ve made it uneven. The set up is not as comfortable. Instead of the comfy chairs with the foot bath, they have you sit on a pillow that’s propped on the wall with a mosaic bowl for your feet. It was comfortable enough — even included a back massager. But no bubbles? I guess I’m glad I just bought my own foot spa and can use my bath and body works fizzies for nice bubble bath. Oh, and it was marketed as an aromatherapy pedicure and there was not a single fragrant oil or lotion.
I felt like a diva until this happened — she made me bleed and was very rough when filing my toes! It was painful and while I appreciate her telling me she gave me a cut and applying alcohol, it just made the rest of the experience uncomfortable. I was counting the minutes til I could get out of there!
I had picked Revelations because I was going to be in the area, but I’ve learned my lesson — I’ll stick with my trustworthy salons and just pay the few extra dollars.

I want to say. Its easy to have a bad first experience anywhere. But its difficult to consistently have good experiences at the same place. So let me gush.
Today I had the ultimate package at RSS (shortcut for Revelations Salon and Spa). It included a full body massage, facial, lunch in a private room, mani, pedi, paraffin, deep condition wash, hair style, and makeup.
First of all– looooved the masseuse. She was easy to talk to, wonderful to give direction, and had the perfect balance of firm/​gentle touch. My stylist/​nail artist, Carol, is ridiculously nice and I have been seeing her for almost 2 years now. My makeup artist was really nice and didnt overdo the makeup just like I asked, which is what usually hapoens to me.
The most important thing is everyone listened to my requests and made it the most luxurious day I have ever had. That is why I continue to go back to RSS. Not only are they trendy, staffed wonderfully, and clean but theur prices cannot be beaten and are reasonable.
Thanks so much to RSS. Keep up the amazing packages and your clientele will try and spread the work!

It really breaks my heart to have to write this review, but people need to know. I was given a gift certificate to this place for my birthday which included a 30 min facial, mani & pedi (Serenity Package). Being fairly new to the Cleveland area I was excited to find a place which I had hoped to become a regular to. I’m going to break this down into parts.
Facial
There isn’t too much to say about this. It was nice. Emily that tool care of me was pleasent. The facial also included a neck/​arm massage. She applied the right pressure and was always gentle on my face. Nothing spectacular stood out. Overall a decent facial, but if I personally had to pay — I’d search for better.
Pedi
The layout was unique in this building. I did like the feel of the place. I won’t name names here just because this is where it all started to go down hill. My toe nails were cut down to the skin. After cutting she then asked me if the length was okay. Normally they ask if you even want them trimmed, but she went ahead and decided that for me. She did do a good job with the application of the polish on my feet. The scub went up mid calf, if that. Not sure if that is a policy they have or what, but was disappointed in that. Other places I have gone go right below the knee or close to it.
Mani
The morning of the appointment I called to see if I could get gel polish and that I would be more than happy to pay for the upcharge. The lady on the phone said that would be fine and she would make a note of it in my account. When it came to walking over to the nail table I asked the lady who was doing my nails if she had been made aware that I was getting gel. She said no, but then continued to mention that she did find it odd that my mani had been slotted out for a longer period of time (this here shows me lack of communication within the business). She quickly set up what needed to be for gel. I picked out my color and we got started. There was no pre-​soak treatment to soften my cuticles or any sort of lotion to make cutting them easier. She went straight for it causing a lot of bleeding. After getting the bleeding under control she then started to prep and paint. Everything seemed okay paint wise until she put on the top coat and didn’t clean the parts that got on to my skin. This caused instant peeling. I noticed this as I was rechecking my hands at the checkout and asked if it was okay I go back to have her fix them (3 of them to be exact). I went back and told/​showed her the issue. She initially tried to blame it on my nail. Said «honey, that’s your nail.» I did my best to be nice, but I said if that was my nail it wouldn’t be peeling like that. She tried to file it down (which I knew wasn’t going to work), but that did nothing. Then she said, well maybe the polish was bad or you didn’t let them cure enough. I told her I put them in when she told me to and then removed when the timer dinged just like she had asked. She then suggested that she could redo them if I wanted. I asked that she redo them. She did the foil technique to get the gel off along with placing my hands in warmers (this quickens the removal process). Then she buffed them which caused my already cut cuticles to bleed again. She asked a fellow associate to help her paint to quicken the process. When the fellow associate saw that I was bleeding she asked if I wanted liquid bandage (why wasn’t this offered to me thr first time??). I said yes please in a heart beat. They ended up redoing the nails and still some of it looks questionable. I do appreciate the two ladies staying after close, but if it was done right the first time I would have been out there way ahead of closing time.
All in all — I wanted to love this place, but it’s a no-​go. My appointment was at 5pm which I arrived for at 4:50pm and didn’t leave the place until 9pm (1 hr after closing). To spend 4 hours for a 30 mins facial, mani & pedi seems absurd to me. Maybe they cut hair better; I’m not sure, but I will not be taking that chance with them.

I actually loved this place. Front desk was very friendly, and I felt very welcome. Ann marie was the nicest girl I’ve EVER had cut my hair. We talked the whole time while she was cutting my hair, and I’m usually very awkward while getting my hair cut, so I felt very comfortable with her. I have a lot of hair, so stylists usually don’t layer it and thin it out how I want it. She cut it exactly how I wanted it, and I LOVE it. I’ve been trying to find a new stylist since moving to cleveland and I defiantly found her. I will be back again.

They were able to squeeze me in for a quick appointment after an issue with another salon. The stylist was awesome. I will return to her in the future.

*EDIT* I recently got a groupon for Facials… I had Donia. This was by far the best facial I’ve ever had! Incredible technique, so very relaxing. I’m glad I want back and had a more positive experience.

I went to Revelations with my sister as a walk in for shellac manicures. Our technicians were so much fun, and were able to squeeze us in for a pedicure too!
My nails were super short, so the shellac wasnt able to properly seal, and it chipped in a few days. I think it was my fault because I picked at it.
The atmosphere is wonderful. I love their pedicure room.
One thing I would change? The receptionist.
I have been a receptionist before, and if I had an attitude like that and an unwillingness to help, I would have been fired ASAP. It is important to treat your clients like they are valuable. Especially when most salons fail in 5 years. It doesnt so much matter how well you can do hair and nails, but its how someone *feels* when they leave. And the receptionist is the first face they see when they come, and the last when they leave.

Finally after about a year of debating I decided I wanted to get bangs. I called this place because it was close to my work and I was on a tight time schedule. I called that morning and they fit me in! Keith, the stylist, was awesome! Very friendly and comfortable. I was in and out in 45 minutes with a shampoo, hair cut and most importantly bangs! Very reasonably priced too. FREE bang trims. Will be back. Thank you

I am 32 and I have never had a facial, which is a crime because I don’t have the best skin. I was feeling particularly upset about my extremely congested skin that I knew it was time, but I didn’t want to spend globs of money for my first time. Especially since I wasn’t too sure if it was worth it. Here comes Groupon with it’s offer of 1 Aveda Essential Facial for $ 30 at Revelations Salon & Spa. I was a little weary that with the Groupon I would be treated differently… like I didn’t matter since I was being a cheapskate. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Jessi, my esthetician made me feel so comfortable and important which set the mood for the rest of my experience. She really took her time and didn’t rush through anything… I never knew a facial could be so relaxing, in fact I dozed off for a couple minutes. I felt so refreshed after my facial and although I didn’t feel pressured to buy some of the products she used on me, I still purchased the Herbal Clay Masque and the Skin Firming Toner which she had suggested to help with my congested skin. I have a feeling that my skin will be more radiant after a couple of months, especially after I book another facial appointment in 6 – 8 weeks. The experience exceeded my expectations and I will gladly spend the $ 60 it usually costs. I feel it is worth it. Do yourself a favor and request Jessi, you won’t be disappointed!

I had a travelzoo (groupon-​type discount) here and I got two 60 minute massages; one for myself and one for my boyfriend. I asked over the phone if I could make them a «couples package» and be in the same room and they did for no extra cost! Wonderful experience and atmosphere! I cannot wait to go back again for another massage. It is in the perfect location too in Lakewood to have drinks/​dinner afterwards. We walked to Deagan’s for some tasty tacos topping off this great experience!

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience here at all. I made an appointment to have my hair done for a wedding. I told the hair stylist my hair was very prone to frizz due to it being naturally curly. I specifically advised a hot tool has to be used on each section of my hair in order to get a style that will stay. I came in with Blow drier straight hair and reminder her either a curling iron or a straightening iron has to be used on each strand or I will end the night with a fro. She did not take my advice and instead opted for loads of product.
I was pleased the the beachy waves she was able to provide was not confident in their staying power. Sure enough I walked outside, got in the car, and drive home to get dressed. Upon getting home I saw the horror that was a ratted fro on the top with pin curls at the tips. I had to re-​wash, blow dry, and straightened my tresses into their typical poker straight bland coiffe and go to a very formal wedding looking ordinary. So I spent the $ on a professional do and inevitably had to fix it myself.

Beautiful place inside, huge inside. I went here for more birthday for pedicures at their super neat pedicure bar thingy that was beautiful and awesome. They were very accommodating and worked with me on my reservation and were super nice even when half my party showed up like an hour late, they still stayed way later than their hours to take care of us. Excellent service, super cute pedicure, and very friendly staff. I think I’m going to get my boyfriend a massage here for his birthday!

I just got the best haircut of my life at revelations! I walked in with no appointment, and they had me set up with somebody right away. I wish that I remembered her name… She was in the first chair in the center of the room, right next to the reception desk. I have gone to revelations for about 5 years now, and have normally just taken any stylist that is available short notice… not anymore, this woman was amazing and I will go back to her every time now.
I had a photo of a haircut I liked and she seemed really excited about it from the get go. She was super cute and friendly, and it was a pleasure to be in her chair, I totally trusted her and she gave me an amazing haircut. I usually try and go for bangs but have had trouble in the past because I have been told that I have a small forehead that is not fit for bangs, but she pulled it off! And chuckled about my small forehead, right on! She even showed me how to properly style and blow dry my hair step by step! Utterly amazing! I’m so so happy.

I love coming here. A few years ago a friend and I did the day spa package where you got the full body massage, manicure, pedicure, facial and lunch. It was one of the best days of my life! The price was just right for my budget and allowed me to have a relaxing day. After that I was hooked. I have also gone for hair coloring, cuts and up do’s. The only thing I haven’t really done here is the make up but that’s because I prefer to do my own.
The staff is super friendly and greets you right away to take your coat and offer a beverage.
When I got my massage it was my first time and they were great about explaining everything and asking me questions on what I was looking for.
Anytime someone asks me a place to go for massages revelations is the first place I tell them about.

One bad manicure experience knocked this rating down significantly. The only reason for 2 stars is the good facial and massage I got here, but those might not even matter after what I experienced getting my nails done.
To begin with, I’m an east sider, so coming to Lakewood for a manicure is not something I really LOVE to do, but a friend’s boyfriend got her a much needed spa day (which was greatly appreciated and this by no means is his fault). I suggested Revelations because I had a really good massage here in the past. Little did I know that’s pretty much all you should come here for.
The spa day began really well with a facial (my first) that was really relaxing and the guy that did it was funny, nice, and made me feel comfortable despite feeling a little awkward (follow up: my skin did get slightly irritated after this, but that’s not their fault at all – I have pretty irritable skin). The bad part came after the facials when we got manicures…
I had cut my own nails a couple of days before this because I just can’t handle long nails – I apologized for them being nubby and hard to work with and my nail tech seemed OK with it. But then she ended up filing the skin off of the end of my fingers and slicing more than cuticles away. This resulted in SO MUCH peeling in the next couple of days after the mani. Then, when she was doing the base coat and first coat of polish, she walked away and had a whole conversation with someone about phones, called someone and ended up getting mixed up. She forgot which finger she was on – very unprofessional – and then told us about some lady who had «massive legs that she couldn’t lift when she was doing a pedicure.» Now, I’m not the most sensitive person in the world and sometimes I just share thoughts that could offend… but I’m also not insensitive. After she told that little story, I couldn’t stop thinking about what horrible story she was going to get out of us for her next victim. As the polishing continued, she got more on my skin and fingers than I generally do when I’m doing my own nails and even painted a hair onto one nail. GAG. I basically had a hairy fingernail and pink cuticles (what was left of them).
After it was all done, my friend’s tech came back and «cleaned up» my nails, but at that point, there was no saving them. I guess the good part is that the polish started chipping and looking worse after a day, so it wasn’t a long-​lasting mess. It barely lasted two days before I was ready to re-​paint them.
As other reviewer Kristie B. said, the towels did look dirty, it was not relaxing, and I’m definitely convinced that the nail tech that did my nails was not professionally trained in any manner (heh…manners…).
I’ll never come back here for a mani/​pedi. And honestly, though the massage I had previously was amazing, I’m not sure I even feel like the drive and giving this salon/​spa my business is worth it.

After a just OK experience with a hair cut here a couple years ago, I ended up getting my hair done here for my wedding after my regular salon was closed on my wedding day. I chose it because my cousin and her bridal party got their hair done here and everyone looked amazing. I think my hair turned out really great. My main complaint was my mother, who also got her hair done at the same time as me took about 20 minutes longer than me. The appointment all together was more than an hour and 50minutes so it put me behind for the day after planning on the quoted time of an hour. Her hair did turn out pretty, but it was just curled and pulled back at the crown, where mine was an intricate up do, so I’m not sure why it to so long.
So walk away with this: make an appointment with a senior stylist and build in 2 hours just in case. Also it was super affordable, which was great.

Let’s preface this with, I have curly hair. THICK, CURLY, CURLY hair. I have walked into many a salon, been fed the «I can handle it» line, and cried my way home all too often.
So, naturally, I was a little nervous upon snagging the last available appointment on a Friday at Revelations in Lakewood.
I must have serious karma points racked up with the hair gods.
My stylist was Rachel. She walked up to get me from the wide-​open waiting room with some serious spunk then sat me down at her station to hatch some hair plans. She was completely excited to cut my hair and really took the time to talk through EXACTLY what look I was going for. I left pleased as punch. Rachel is a total sweetheart and bad ass with her styling shears.
CURLY HEADS REJOICE!

Went for a spa pedicure with Rachel. She was top-​notch! Very sweet and absolutely adorable– she did a great job. The pedicure was nice. Water was the perfect temperature– hot, but not scalding. The polish job was neat, precise, and very clean. I chose a new color from the James Bond OPI line called «You Only Live Twice». It is a festive, sparkly, pink/​red color. Love it.
The only reason I wouldn’t give this venue five stars is because the pedicure seating wasn’t that comfortable. It is bench style seating, so there is no recline. Also– I like the spas that use razors to scrape the dead skin off your feet. Most places don’t do this though– I think it might be reserved for Chinatown only, or it might be illegal to use razors on flesh, or something… but I like the salons that do take that risk. Risks should always be taken. After all, you do indeed only live twice.
