I went to Paul Mitchell last week to get my hair done and wasn’t entirely impressed. The front desk didn’t smile one time when I came or when I left which made me feel a little unwelcome. When I sat down the learning leader named Stephanie came over and was SO rude to my future professional. It was almost like she was TRYING to make her feel/​look dumb in front of me which I thought was extremely unprofessional. Was not willing to help her, when she had a question she said «look at ur skill cards» and walked away. Which kept me waiting there for an extra 15 minutes. My future professional however, was the only reason I will be returning. Her name was Sharon and she was extremely sweet and personable. She cut my hair EXACTLY the way I wanted it and did an amazing job.

I went in to Paul Mitchell for an ombré, and seen Aerie… It was the best experience I’ve ever had, the front desk was awesome very helpful and polite. Then when my student came down I noticed she had an ombré as well so I knew she would be the best one for me. We started the process and it only took 45 minutes to apply!!! We talked the whole time about the beauty industry, she educated me on product as well as hair in general. As we were drying my hair I fell in love with it!!! The dimension the transition from brown light brown blonde to platinum. I’m glad to say I have no breakage in my hair and I love it!!! Aerie I love my hair thank you for everything I will come back to you and follow you in the near future.

I came in with some green hair that wouldn’t go away. Alex (with really cool short pink hair!) Was my stylist. I had really been wanting to get silver hair, but with the green, plus my naturally black hair I didn’t think it would be possible. After voicing my concerns, Alex did a great job of examining my hair and explaining how we were going to achieve my look. She was very knowledgeable, and efficient. She came up with a game plan and executed it beautifully, while managing to keep my hair soft and healthy feeling! Was very impressed with my service there.

A few days ago I went in and really wasn’t expecting too much because I know it is a school so they might not be able to do everything and make it look exactly how you want, but it ended up being the best I’ve gotten my hair. The student I was paired with was Lauren Miller and she
was very patient and would tell me and her teacher what her process was. I was interested in highlights, so we decided to do them and I absolutely did not feel like she was trying to sell them to me,
I really appreciate the patience and the effort Lauren put into my appointment. I have some pretty interesting hair that doesn’t «lift» or «dry» as quickly as others. She stayed for a long time after the other students left (5 hours total appointment). I felt bad for taking up so much time, but she and the other teachers never made me feel like I was inconveniencing them at all! Lauren and the teachers were chatty and kind, and not in a fake hair stylist kind of way.
I’ve already gotten so many compliments on my hair! Before I avoided going to hair salons because it was always so expensive for something that only left me feeling unsure and broke. But not only am I happy I chose to come here, I realize that I was so fortunate to get paired with Lauren who made it such an effortless and enjoyable process.

A friend of mine booked an appointment for me to have a full highlight and a full color for herself. Having never been here before it would’ve been nice to have know what «Phase 1» and «Phase 2» meant when booking the appointment in the first place. Both our stylists in training were very confused and the educators seems to be too busy with their Halloween costumes to give advice. Both students were extremely nice, but after five hours of sitting in an extremely cold salon, we both left with discounted rates because neither one of us fully got what we came in for! My hair regrowth wasn’t touched up and that was the main purpose of my visit. They offered to fix it, but at that point I was starving and freezing from sitting for 5 hours. Neither one of us will be back. My friends hair was unevenly died and she had tons of dye all over her ears and neck and forehead. Once again– the students were nice and considerate! The educators needs to be more involved with the students– especially phase 1.

The students and staff at Paul Mitchell are super nice and do a great job. It is a training school but they seem to be well qualified and always do a nice job both for me and my wife. Their prices are very reasonable compared to a typical salon. Mens haircut for $ 5 — sign me up.

I hadn’t gone to this school before but the other day I decided to try it out with a Phase 2 Haircut/​Style.
The cut, of course, took some time (about 1 hour) but that’s ok. The gal I had was GREAT! She was understandably cautious, wanted to make sure this was the style I wanted.
Turns out it’s only been 3 days since the cut & style and I’ve had 2 compliments already. Her name is Svettlana (I think I spelled it correctly…) I am SO happy with this cut/​style! Highly recommend this gal!

I came in wanting a cut and highlights and figured it would take a long time (3 ½ hours) seeing as this is a beauty school. The highlights took a while but the stylist was able to make them the way I wanted them. The hair cut was a completely different story however. I showed both the stylist and her supervisor a picture of the style that I wanted but I only wanted 4 inches cut off so that my hair would still go below my shoulders — instead she cut off close to 7 inches with choppy layers and no face framing, nothing like the picture I showed her. I guess I will just have to go to a professional full price salon from now on.

Personally, I’ve always had good luck here.
It is a school, so be prepared for your service (even a simple one) to take 3 times as long as it normally would. I usually block out about 4 hours if I’m going to come here, especially if I am getting color. I usually request a senior student, and I’ve come here to have all over color done inexpensively with great results. Every service comes with a shampoo and scalp massage and my husband likes to come for the men’s hair cut discount days.

Couldn’t get to my regular salon so gave this a shot. Was assigned to a kid who graduates next month, so I thought it would be better than expected. He and his instructor had a very difficult time deciding how to match my color. The shampoo took forever and he definitely doesn’t know how to give a scalp massage. Cut was also very slow. He only took about ¹⁄₈ inch off. At one point I wanted to grab the scissors from him and do it myself. The instructor raved about how great the color was until she had to sign off when she noticed a spot near the front along my part that he missed. She offered to do it again, but after nearly 3 hours, I wasn’t interested in waiting even longer. That evening, I found a glob of dye that hadn’t been washed out.
I realize these are students and are still somewhat inexperienced, but this kid is due to graduate so I thought he should be much better. Either they are not getting the proper training and oversight or the program should be longer.
Cost was right…$ 25 for cut and color… but I think it might be worth the much higher cost if my regular salon to know it’s done right and more efficiently.

Like others had said, be prepared to wait a little longer than usual. I had the student do some light pink ombré to my brown hair, as well as a cut. I had washed my hair like I normally do and the pink was out in a week! I am not sure if she needed to add more color to it, but I am disappointed in it, considering I dropped around $ 50 for it. I would go back again, just because I am cheap and do not want to spend way more at a regular salon.

I have gone twice now both times for haircut & style. I was pleased with the cuts, just be prepared for VERY long appointments. The students have to get approval from the supervisor at every stage before moving on to the next stage of your cut, so it takes a few hours. For the price it is totally worth it and you are helping students get hands on experience!

I have been camping and traveling for almost a month now and my hair had grown more than an inch, faded to light blonde and the gray roots were showing!!! Yuk!
I have never been to a cosmetology school before, but the description of services provided the confidence I needed to take a chance. I am so pleased with the the results that I plan to seek out other PM schools when I travel.
Grace created a perfect color formula that restored my usual brunette base color and was able to emulsify the color through my hair in a way that preserved many of the existing highlights. And then she suggested trimming my hair into a stylish classic bob that is so fresh looking.
It was a great experience and very affordable. I recommend this for anyone who wants to to try a new technique or hair style and for anyone who is traveling and needs a trim or color touch up.

This place is spectacular. Kelsie did my hair today, and she did a wonderful job on my color. I have visited other salons in the area, but this school is very professional and they do a wonderful job. The value was incredible. Color is very affordable, and the ambiance is welcoming and non-​pretentious. Plus, free parking is available nearby. You can’t beat this place!

For a school I can say they do a great job and the students are very we mannered unlike some others I’ve seen.

Where do I start…
I wasn’t expecting a great, professional service. I knew I was walking into a school, having a n00b doing my hair.
This was the worst hair experience I’ve ever had in my life.
I came in at 6:30 on a Tuesday night to have my roots colored and to get a simple trim. I left at 10:15…
Kiersten was my stylist, and while she was a sweet girl, every other thing that came out of her mouth was «hell yeah». I know she’s a student, but she should also be learning professionalism skills, and though I didn’t particularly mind this, someone else may have. Apart from this small detail, she moved as slow as molasses. She also let another girl start working on my color with her, without asking me if that was alright. A little consideration for my personal space would’ve been appreciated.
When she washed my hair, she got water all down my back, and it was a pretty chilly evening, so for the next two hours I had a wet, cold back and was miserable and freezing. Once she washed the color out, it turned out the color was much lighter than it should have been. I have very dark brown hair, and they added a golden brown into the dark brown dye… at the direction of the teacher. Said teacher, Sam, then told me it was because I claimed I wanted «chocolate brown». Yes, I do want chocolate brown, because I feel that is the current color of my hair. I have never seen GOLD chocolate. And at the very least, I would think she would know that I want my roots to simply match the rest of my hair, no matter what I call it. Sam offered to «let» me come in for a re-​do that would still cost me $ 8 for the product. I think I’ll leave it to a professional this time.
Then came the cut. Kiersten didn’t butcher my hair, thankfully. However, she did work painfully slow. I was falling asleep in her chair, not looking forward to my 5:30 am wakeup, and regretting ever stepping in the door here. Sam finally came over at about 10 pm to finish my hair since it was ridiculously late. As happy as I was to have someone going faster so I could ESCAPE, Sam was one of the coldest people in such an intimate customer service position I’ve ever encountered, and I felt completely uncomfortable with her.
Once I finally got to leave, I felt like SPRINTING out the door. I will never be back. I sincerely hope these stylists get out of here with a better education than what I experienced. Otherwise, I’m truly terrified.

We went in for haircuts and eyebrow waxing and were very pleased with the service & result. They really take their time: love it!

I was a little leery about going here to get my color done but they did an excellent job and my hair didn’t turn out green – hooray!
I’ve never been to a Paul Mitchell school but have been to other schools and the process is pretty similar. They have Level 1 and Level 2 students who can work on you (Level 1 being the cheaper option), when you go in you can over what you are looking for. I always bring a picture with me so I can truly convey what I am wanting done with my head. They start filling out a checklist then bring an instructor over to go over what you want and go from there. In the past this process has taken a ridiculously long time with coloring my hair at a school but it actually took the same amount of time as it takes when I go to a regular stylist (about two hours). That was much appreciated since I get impatient and want it to be done with but they weren’t too crazy with the check ups from the instructor… possibly b/​c my girl was a level 2 student. You get Paul Mitchell color and products in your hair which is way better than he standard Suave I use on the daily and once I saw the color, I was wow’ed. Wowed like, I couldn’t stop looking at myself b/​c my hair looked fabulous and like it was alive again!
The best part is if you book a follow up appointment you get 20% off your next visit-​now that’s something I can get down with!
