Mile High Family Medicine

After my review, I was told I am «no longer welcome» in their business. I received an official letter barring me from their practice! Wow!

Over the years I’ve had a few incidents that needed immediate attention and I’ve never once had a problem getting an appointment the same day even though they don’t technically take walk-​ins. I’ve always found both doctors, nurses and office staff to be polite and professional even when dealing with injuries I’ve stupidly caused myself due to a serious case of shoulda-​known-​better. I would absolutely recommend Mile High to anyone lookibg for a regular family physician.

The staff is very nice. (I only see the female practitioner) but she is wonderful. The building is nice and clean as well. They tend to run a bit behind, but it os because they are patient and take time with you while you are in with them.

Dr. Ralph Roland was Dr. Borkert were much better drs than the rest of these new drs. It’s not about their caring and passion anymore

This office up charges, increases rates and does whatever they can to get every penny out of you. DO NOT VISIT. There are PLENTY of other offices to choose from. You’ve been warned and not just by me! Read the other reviews!
I needed a physical for work and was quoted about $ 89 by the receptionist when I called and also a second time when I arrived for the appointment. The physical it’s self was fine. When I went to pay, the $ 89 physical was suddenly $ 160! This office has a dedicated staff to handled finances (surprise?) and when I took issue with the $ 70 EXTRA I was being charged one of the finance employees became very rude, short and almost offended that I brought it up. Instead of charging me for a routine physical — $ 89 — they charged me for a «half hour» of doctor time and a «OFFICE FEE». I asked what an «office fee» was? The response — «It’s just something that they add on».
In the end there were two finance employees and a supervisor on one side of the desk and me on the other — just wanting to pay for what I was QUOTED (and actually had done). This is a shady office and I am horrified to think what they have gotten away with to this point, if my parents used this office I would transfer them immediately. I don’t trust them one bit. Not okay!

This place has a fundamental problem with communication. I have some pretty specific medical needs. The first time I called with a question about my child I was told «I don’t know, I’m not a medical professional, you need to make an appointment.» So I did and paid the copay only to be told that the clinic my child had seen before had screwed up and I should clean my house with rubbing alcohol. The second time I had a question two days after seeing a doctor there. If you have a medical problem they will not put you into a voice mail box for a medical professional to call you back they have the receptionist take a message and send it back. Because of this I was given the wrong medication TWICE! Had I actually taken the first medicine I don’t even want to think what would have happened. Turns out BOTH times the receptionist took my message WRONG! It was like the worst game of telephone ever. It is unprofessional, dangerous and I’m willing to bet even against HIPPA guidelines.

Check out the other Unilocal reviews and you’ll see, this place charges for everything. I needed my flu shot and they demanded I pay my $ 25 co-​pay because they said it required a doctors visit. That is preventative and is covered completely by almost every insurance without any co-​pay. I said hell no, walked out, and went to Walgreens and got it without them mis-​classifying it to collect on a doctors visit. We are now leaving the area and wanted our medical records for the last five years. This spanned 3 different medical practices due to moving several times. Every other office provided the records for free. Of course Mile High charged $ 73. When questioned about it, they whipped out a printout they had ready of the Colorado statutes that show the maximum they can charge and guess what, of course they charged the maximum. Basically, if they CAN charge you for something, whether correct or not, they will. Just keep in mind this is a business first, and a doctors office second. If they could curb their money hungry ways, this would be a pretty good facility.

Good lord this is a money hungry office that has it down to a science of how to LEGALLY bill your insurance and you for things that your insurance will tell you are zero deductible visits such as yearly physicals and vaccinations. Your ACTUAL yearly physical will be free but they will tell you that you need to come in for another regular (charged) visit to discuss your results, even when there is nothing to discuss. I honestly came back and paid to wait in the office, have the doctor come in and say everything looks good. For vaccinations such as a simple flu shot, they claim they HAVE to bill it as a doctors visit because the doctor has to administer the injection. BS. I have never had an office charge for vaccinations which are zero deductible on every plan I have ever had.
They just lost another star today when my wife came in to pay to hear her results from her yearly physical and when she questioned them, they stated that it was her insurance, not them, that required it to be done this way. Again… BS. They are the only office we have EVER been to that rips off insurance and the community this way.
P. S. My wife just texted. She had a 3PM appt and it is now 420PM and she has yet to see the doctor.

They have been able to help my Diabetes. No other provider for the past 10 years has been able to help.

Unfortuntely, even as an established patient you cannot get an appointment at this office for 3 – 4 days. When you are sick, you need to be seen before that. They should keep a few appointments open for those situations but they never do. I would like to say this is an occasional occurrence, but it is every single time. No place to depend on medical care.

While the facility is nice, and I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Spencer, the receptionists and staff fail to follow through. There have been multiple instances where they never call me about my lab results including when I was so anemic I had to have a blood transfusion. Even though the lab marked this as critical, they never called me or informed me of the proper course of action. It was only after going to the ER that I knew how severe my results were.

First visit outside of Kaiser… I have spent nearly all of my working career under Kaiser for insurance. I was recently moved outside of Kaiser through work options and had to find a Doctors office close to my house. I will start out with saying the office is very nice and updated. Staff was wonderful and attentive. There were no long waits or busy waiting room with crying kids. Great office and attentive people working.
I highly recommend this office if you are in the area and need a local doctors office.

I am confused by the one star reviews of this practice. They are the most patient-​oriented medical practice I have ever experienced. I have seen three of the doctors in this practice and would highly recommend this practice to anyone — I especially recommend Dr. Rohweder and Dr. Spencer. I have never felt rushed or unknown. They take as much time as necessary to fully understand my symptoms and concerns and recommend the best course of action. They are thorough, deliberate, caring, patient, calming and professional. I also love that I can get an appointment same day or within a couple days of my phone call. They also have a doc on-​call at all times and see patients on Saturday morning. One day I was especially concerned about some symptoms I was experiencing and they worked me in within 30 minutes.

They have a beautiful office, a friendly staff, and excellent care. In one visit (for a strained muscle) they also figured out that I had some nasty allergies that were responsible for terrible sinus problems I had lived with my whole life. Within a couple weeks, I had been tested and begun my treatment, which should eventually cure me completely. I’ve never felt as good as I do now! I can’t recommend this place enough.

Don’t let the beautiful office and the friendly front desk staff fool you. I have been searching for a physician who can actually treat me like a human being. My visit to Mile High Family Medicine left me felling hopeless on this search. I will not point at the specific physician I saw, however, all I can say is I am appalled by the «peasant being confronted by the King» attitude I received from the physician who was assigned to me. I don’t care that you’re a doctor, leave your ego behind as you walk into the room and treat me with respect. I’m not going to write a sob story or an essay about my visit. I’m going to leave it with this and never visit this office again.

The office is beautiful and the staff is great. I love Dr. Spencer — he sees myself, my husband and my 1 year old. They are always able to find a way to see us, when we ask!
