Beware of drunken bartender! The last 2 times I stopped in, the bartender(he was probably 60 years old) was SO hammered that he could barely serve my boyfriend & I. There were times when he would walk out from behind the bar & be MIA for 10 minutes(there was no one else even there). He was slurring, swaying back & forth & repeating himself over & over. The same night, my drink sat there empty for 20 minutes so I decided we should leave. It was only around 10pm on a Friday! I’m always surprised that Manja is still open because there’s never anyone in there. They’ve got to do something new to get people in.

I went back to Manja for the first time in a decade. It is still decent bar and a fine bar to drink alone at. I just wish the Capsule bar was still around. That was the closest thing to the Star Wars bar where that alien band played music.

This is a dive bar, and a perfect one at that. The beers are cheap. The people at the bar are friendly. The bar tender was the owner and extremely nice. It’s a great place to go to be able to actually hear people talking. Darts and foosball are a plus. So were the cards the bar tender offered up to us. I really just had a great time here. Maybe because it feels like it’s always happy hour? YEEEAH!

LOVEIT!!! Drinks are cheap and they got a brand new jukebox which rocks! Shannan, Judy and John are the best. It’s not divey, it’s actually kind of nice!

Manja used to be one of my go-to bars when I lived on Chesterland, down the street. I’m really not sure why. In those days, it was where members of the Indie Rock Fashion Show drank their tall boys and where a bunch of the reformed goths hung out when they got tired of seeing giant boobs hanging out of corsets at TheGothBar(aka The Chamber). Before people started throwing the word«hipster» around so heavily. Ahhh, those were the days. Now, if you go there… some random ginger kid will walk up, sit down next to you, and try to stick his tongue down your throat. Pleasant.

Small, artsy bar with a small sitting area. The bar tenders are friendly. It is across the street from Sullivan’s. There is always a mix of customers. Someone once asked my male friend if I was a hooker that he had picked up. Odd.

I used to go to Manja when I was 21 and new on the bar scene. It used to be a scummy bar with an array of people. Loud, smoky(before the smoking ban, of course), and boisterous. I had a great time, then. I decided to stop in there and see what had changed, and to my delight, it was the same old Manja, just improved with age. Two foosball tables, a killer old school jukebox, and really nice bartenders. Only drawback is that they don’t open until 9. Plus side is that they will open at 7 if you’d like to have a private party there and they have drink specials at the cash bar. Pretty freakin awesome. Give it a try.
