History

Established in 1979.

Larry Miller purchased his first Toyota dealership in the Salt Lake City suburb of Murray, Utah. It opened on May 1, 1979 as Larry H. Miller Toyota. Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, he acquired a number of automobile dealerships in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington, creating Larry H. Miller Automotive. With forty-​two dealerships, Larry H. Miller Automotive is one of the largest automobile dealers in the U.S.

The Larry H Miller organization has trained me extensively in their Miller Business Academy and again in their Institute for General Manager Development. I am a member of the Association of Finance and Insurance Professionals, Better Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce. More importantly, I strive to create a culture in our store to treat our clients like guests in our own home. People, Process and Product rule our success and our clients are more important than anything else. Just in advice don’t leave your vehicle as a trade in. Left my vehicle and did not receive a reimbursement, at first they are polite, and helpful, then rude and disrespectful. Bad experience!

Only good experience I had with my new vehicle purchase was the price. Everything else has been a bad experience.
Most notably, my car has been drifting right since new. I’m an out of state purchaser, so I took it right in to my local dealer who claimed it was just needing to rotate tires. Didn’t fix it. I was assuming that I could have this issue addressed as long as he vehicle was under 12 months old or 12,000 miles. Apparently not. I finally had time to bring it in from my busy work schedule to have it addressed with 9,000 miles. Dealer says VW doesn’t cover alignments at all (even though it’s been documented since purchase). They deferred me back to Larry Miller VW to pay for an alignment since corporate won’t cover it.
I call Larry Miller and Collin answers. Tells me absolutely not that they won’t cover it. We’re talking about a $ 249 alignment for a $ 59,000 car.
I’ve owned Hondas, Toyotas and even Hyundais in the past where one time alignments were ALWAYS covered to 12,000 miles, no questions asked. Not VW and the selling dealer (Larry Miller) won’t help either.
Not only did Larry Miller sell me a vehicle that violates federal emission standards, it won’t even offer me a consolation of a $ 249 alignment (if that’s even the problem)

The dealership was very pleasant and easy to deal with — none of the games that dealers have been known for (waiting and waiting and waiting, for example!). Cindy was our saleswoman — she was no nonsense, very tech savvy and a real pleasure to work with. The Sales Manager was great — again, no games at all. And the Finance Manager was fast and also a pleasure to work with — no hard sales or pressure to buy things you weren’t interested in. All in all a very pleasant experience. Oh yeah, and the car we bought — 2016 VW Golf Sportwagen limited edition is awesome!!! All the latest technology and for a killer price — exactly what we wanted. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This has been the best possible experience for me. I simply came in to have a part put on and the staff could not have been nicer.
They even ran my car through the car wash which saved me another errand for the day.
I used to frequent Emich across town for oil changes, service, etc, but I will definitely be coming here from now on!

Dylin stayed late with us 2+ hours after close to help us each get a new VW on a lease on a snowy night. The team at VW were extremely helpful and worked as quick as they could to get everything done.
Dylin was great through the whole process, always keeping us updated as our deal went through financing and everything else. I can’t imagine a better time being stuck inside a dealership late at night! A healthy dose of humor along with honest answers and guidance made our buy even better than we expected!

While my sales experience last November was average, I have since gone to the service and parts departments and had nothing but an excellent experience. I had them install an aftermarket moonroof to my 2014 Sport Wagon. Willie in parts was willing to go the extra mile to ensure satisfaction after spending a good chunk of change. He was very professional and did what was necessary. The end product was amazing and I highly recommend Willie and staff for your VW parts needs!!!

I didn’t even have to step into the dealership to get the impression that they might be a bit lacking on the integrity side. Contacted via email, about a used vehicle they had listed on AutoTrader, but of course the ad required that I contact them for the asking price. That usually clues me in.
They replied back with a hugely inflated MSRP (it was a 2012, so maybe they were quoting when it was new and not a 3 – 4 year old car) and their asking price over $ 1000 below that.
My research tells me that even their discounted price was completely inflated and I assume they also charge a «dealer handling» (aka: this is pure profit for the dealership) fee.
All I kept getting back was reasons why I was wrong and statements that are just plain false. Stay away. I’m glad I realized this before I subjected myself to visiting the dealership. I see previous posters were not so fortunate.

So far I’ve had a great experience with this dealership. I was in a really bad place financially and this dealership really the extra mile to not only get me qualified in a vehicle i really liked with low mileage but they also got me approved on a great loan when most other car dealerships wouldn’t have touched me. I don’t feel ripped off at all. I feel that I got a great deal! They really worked diligently to get me the best bank offer and even got me a warranty on my vehicle!

We have to say our recent car hunt has been a nightmare, until we went to Paul and Jay.
They went above and beyond to get us into a car we absolutely love and all the staff here was very friendly and professional. The paperwork process went very fast and they accommodated us very well, considering we were there late at night.
If any of our friends and family is looking for a new car, we will send them your way. We highly recommend these guys!

Liars and Scoundrels! STAY AWAY!
At first I was happy with the service I had done, but I am now very upset.
I came in to have my new (to me) 2004 Passat checked out and to see what maintenance would be necessary in the near future. I was quoted $ 120 for this service. I also asked for a diagnosis on why my power mirrors were not working. I was quoted an additional $ 120 for this service. I agreed to the quote and had the checkup and diagnosis done.
The next day I got a list of things that the car needed done to it ranging from a new timing belt to an oil change including estimates for each item. This is exactly what I wanted and was well worth my $ 120. I was also told that the problem with the mirrors was that the switch had shorted out and I just needed to install a new switch. I was quoted $ 126 to have a new switch installed at the dealership. I was OK with paying an additional $ 120 for that information as well, as now that I knew what the problem was I could fix it.
I ordered a new switch for the mirror and prepared to install it myself. Upon removing the door panel I discovered that the mirror switch was unplugged. I plugged it in and it works perfectly. So the mechanic took my $ 120, did not accurately diagnose the problem, and caused me to spend extra money buying a new switch I did not need. Furthermore he tried to get me to pay him another $ 126 to install a new switch that I did not need!
The way I see it one of two things happened:
1) The mechanic is lazy and decided that it was probably the mirror switch and took my $ 120 without actually removing the door panel to diagnose the problem.
2) The mechanic is a thief and knew that the mirror switch was just unplugged but wanted another $ 126 to plug it in.
Either way this is completely unacceptable. I paid $ 120 for him to tell me what was wrong with the mirrors and he didn’t even look at them.
I will not be coming back!

Best car buying experience!
I did my homework and was pretty sure that I wanted to buy a certified used Tiguan. I worked with Eric Vergith and he was great. No pressure and he really listened to us. He and Jason, the general manager, explained the difference between leasing and buying. I had never considered leasing before and it turned out the be the best option for me. We negotiated a fair deal on my trade-​in and the price. I walked into the dealer at 7:30 on a Saturday night and drove my new Tiguan home shortly after 10:00 pm. No drama, no hassles. I am a very happy customer! Hopefully the service will live up to the sales experience…

The service department sucks
They must get a commission on every thing they sell. My wife had purchased a package for 5 oil changes. When she tried to get her last one in less than two years they told her that the offer had expired. They also told her that she needed new tires. A tire sale was going on then. She took the car to a tire dealer who told her there was nothing wrong with them.

The service department is a joke. I honesty don’t trust them, I recently took my VW for an oil change. I was offer a inspection test on my car for free. Well when I picked up my car. I was told my car is in excellent condition. The only service it will be needing is break fluid change and two minor things done. The next day a light came on and the gas cap kept opening! it fail to start when I filled up My gas tank. I contacted the service department. I was told to bring my car back. When my husband brought my car in it was inspected and was told nothing is wrong with it. Well, the next day the light came on again. I have never had this problem before, it all started after the last oil change. I don’t trust them, I know they hire a bunch of rude idiots who work there who probably have no clue about VW’s. My husband Warned me about taking my car there. I honestly feel they did something to my car. They don’t care and they will charge you outrages prices to get your vehicle fixed. My car is paid off. I I was honesty thinking of purchasing a new vehicle there again. After reading all of this reviews I’m going to take my business some where else. Do not trust this place. They are all about the money and they don’t care about their customers.
They should be ashamed of themselves.

Go somewhere else!
We recently went to LM VW to see about trading our VW lease for a new Jetta.
The initial offer for our trade in was so low, it actually would have made more sense for us to buy a new car without trading in our lease, keeping our lease in the garage for a few months and making the payments, and then turning it in at the end if the lease.
That would be fine of course if that offer was truly the best they could do. I did happen to already know what our car was worth. And they had a pre-​owned car like ours on their lot (same year and miles but a lesser trim) listed for $ 6000 more then the offer for ours.
Of coarse they eventually did do better. A lot better. By this time, we felt they were trying to take advantage of us and we didn’t want to do business with them.
In replying to an email from one of the sales consultants several days later, I told her about our great experience in trading in our car and buying a new car at McDonald VW. In response, the LM rep stated she wished we had come back to them so they could beat or match the deal we got at McDonald.
So, we should leave the dealer that gave us a no– hassle, fair deal on the first try, and go back to the one who tried to steal our trade in and see if they would match it? I guess they expect to get multiple chances at earning your business.

I purchased a car here three years ago — bad move. High pressure sales people with the usual tactics. I bought the extended warranty with all the maintenance covered to 70,000 miles. Just took my car in to get the 40,000 mile service, and the service folks assured me that the maintenance on my car was NOT covered. Guess I should have brought my lawyer with me when I bought the car to catch the lies the sales and warranty people were telling me. My experience with this dealership has put me off ALL Larry H. Miller dealerships and VW by association. Do yourself a favor and find a dealership that is up front on the cost of the vehicle and doesn’t lie to sell you the extended warranty.
UPDATE: Just and update for everyone. The GM left the below message, so I called him back and left him a message stating who I was (that I had left the negative Unilocal review) and left him my name and number and requested that he call me back. He never called. Take note that this lip service behavior is par for the course with this dealership.

Typical car dealer sales tactics run rampant. Salesman goes back to finance saying «that’s going to be hard but I’ll try.» Each time he comes back to present incremental changes in the offer saying that’s the best they can possibly do.
In the end they offered me $ 2k less for my trade-​in than every other offer I had, wanted twice the down payment and tried to finance 3 months longer with a higher interest rate. Their best deal after 4 hours of haggling was, no joke, $ 3k more than the first offer I received from Gebhardt VW in Boulder. This was for a new 2015 VW GTI with a Lexus hybrid trade-​in.
The guys I dealt with were pleasant enough and I enjoyed my test drives… but overall the experience was just work.

My brother is mentally ill. Severely. He is 100% disabled and is regularly in out of hospitals. He is currently homeless due to his inability to manage basic paperwork. He has a car — which he probably should not have. Last week, while my parents were in Texas for my uncle’s memorial service my brother who has been off his medication wrecked his car. He took it to the dealership where my parents had bought this car for him: Larry Miller Volkswagen.
Anyone who spent 5 minutes with him would have seen that he was not of sound mind. Despite this — he left Larry Miller Volkswagen with a brand new $ 27,000 VW convertible. Jason, the assistant general manager tells me that my brother qualified for a bank loan. He gets about $ 600 a month in social security income. Apparently, being unemployed, homeless, mentally ill and having a restricted driver’s license does not prevent you from driving away from Larry Miller with a brand new car and monthly payments similar to your gross income.
So, he drove across Colorado and in Dinosaur was arrested for having cancelled plates, a restricted driver’s license, no proof of insurance and speeding. He then spent several days in jail. My parents sent him a bus ticket and the sheriff was helpful enough to take him to the bus station. Because it was clear he should not be, nor was he legal to be driving. But it seems it was not clear to Larry Miller Volkswagen. He went from the bus straight to the hospital where he remains.
I am so thankful that when Larry Miller Volkswagen put him behind the wheel of a car he couldn’t afford or legally operate he did not hurt himself or anyone else. When I called and asked them to make this right — just by getting the car and unwinding the deal I was put off and given excuses and finally was allowed to talk to Jason. Who told me none of this was his problem or responsibility. The GM, Jarred Black won’t even take my calls.
