La Quinta Inn & Suites Denver Southwest Lakewood

My dad and I stayed here while in town for a wedding. When we got here at 8 pm and went to check in, the lady at the front desk said she had to run an errand for a guest. 20 minutes later she came back and finally checked us in. When we got off the elevator on the second floor, the whole end of that floor smelt like pot. I get it, its Colorado, but come on. First thing I went to do when we got in our room was take a bath only to find other people’s hair in the bathtub! After doing a bit of my own cleaning, I went to turn on the water and not only did the hot side end up cold and the cold side end up hot, but the water pressure sucked and it took forever to fill up the tub. Despite all this, I must say the beds were comfy and the breakfast in the lobby was good other than the coffee having coffee grounds in it. But, I probably won’t be staying here again.

Stayed here 6 years ago and was a lot more impressed.
Stayed here again 2 weeks ago and was disappointed.
The good: The pool. Staff was nice. The room was large with desk.
The bad: The TV didn’t work. I have 3 kids, this was a problem. (They credited me some money — but that’s it and it wasn’t a cheap room.) There was a bunch of dog hair on the floor when I opened the door. The hotel on the whole felt banged up and a bit run down. The breakfast was all cold except for one of those waffle makers that beep constantly. There was a toaster (2 slot) for the whole hotel.
Sad to say we won’t be back. 4 stars last time!

One week prior to my friend’s wedding I called the hotel to book under the room block that had been reserved for wedding guests. I spoke with Desiree and told her I needed a room under the wedding block. Simple enough. She starts asking me if I’m (insert several names), which was confusing for me. «Did she assign rooms? Is there a specific list of people she gave you when blocking the rooms?» I asked her. She said no, and I’m not completely sure she knew what she was doing. I finally ask her for a room with two beds and she went on with the reservation. She asked my name and phone number. «Is that all you need?» I asked her. She said yes. Should have taken this exchange as a red flag.
I fly into Denver Airport one week later and call the hotel to ask if a friend could check into the room because she was going to get there first. Matthew then proceeds to tell me that my reservations had been CANCELED and that they were booked for the night. I was completely confused and he proceeded to tell me that it was canceled because a credit card was not attached to the reservation. He also said that the reservation deadline was July 25^th, which was one week after I called. I asked Desiree point blank if that was all she needed when I called. She said yes. Someone please retrain this woman! I had to scramble for a place to stay at 11pm at night, and had to call at least 10 hotels before I found something. I was offered no compensation and a half-​assed apology. I don’t work there, I don’t know your procedures. Your staff should know all of the information necessary to secure a room. She had my phone number. She could have called me back if she ever realized her mistake. She did not. Instead, it was canceled. Desiree should not be taking phone calls and helping people reserve rooms since she very clearly does not know how to make a basic reservation. Thanks Desiree, for this horrendous experience!

Was kind of put off by the front desk manager… no smile when we checked in; there were three of us, and the room was booked by my colleague. When we came back from dinner after that evening, we found that our keys didn’t work for the room. Ok, no biggie, technical difficulties. So went back downstairs and explained this to the same person that checked us in.
She asked, «how many people are staying in the room?». My college said «three, just like we checked in a few hours ago.»
She said «ok, I need to see everyone’s ID.» Well ok, even though she didn’t ask for ID when we checked in (other than my colleague who reserved the room), we went ahead and gave her our drivers licenses.
I then asked «why do you need our licenses?» She said «in case something like this happens again». She took a photo copy of each of our IDs, gave them back and reissued us new room keys.
Alright…so three of us are on a business trip opening a new location for our company, not a bunch of teenagers with cases of beer under our arms (in fact we weren’t carrying anything), if was just a little strange to be treated like that when the problem was with the keys that they issued us. By the way, both keys worked on Checkin, but who knows.
I was put off enough to just stay across the street at the Comfort Suites, because we travel here twice a month.
Tip: tone, inflection, and the right people make all the difference.

I booked the suite with the kind bed and the pullout couch, it was supposed to have a whirlpool. The looby and the outside are nice the halls look pretty clean, but our room wasn’t the best as far as it being clean, once we settled in and got comfortable my 9month old was crawling and found a used hamburger container under a chair (the chair is very low like a recliner) ok whatever it happens right?! Than we turn on the tv and we only get 1 channel on & off, I called the front they were having technical issues. and finally I get in the shower and when I get out one of the towels has about 2 or 3 black long hairs on them, who could miss that?! I know what can I expect from a 2 star hotel right?! Motel 6 has better rates better channels and im sure cleaner towels, this is the first and last time I visit a La Quinta inn & Suites.
By the way I didn’t get the whirlpool I got a cheap little bath tub.

I’m writing this review because the walls are so thin in the adjoining rooms and have no soundproofing. That who’s ever in the next room next to you, you can hear every word, you can hear them unzip their suitcases, you can hear them every time they even flush the toilet. I just spent the week here and can’t sleep in because of how the noise travels through the adjoining doors.
If you get a room here make sure there’s no adjoining doors.

Five stars for getting just what we needed: clean, roomy, new, bright and comfortable., at a VERY reasonable price. We’ll be using this chain again.

Although I normally stay downtown at the Westin, Omni, or Hyatt… I am getting tired of getting rip for another $ 15 bucks/​24 hrs for in room internet connection, and another $ 25 for parking/​night.
Decided to rough it a bit and booked here… yes this is roughing it… there’s NO room service or a bar in the hotel. Aside from their short comings, free high speed in room internet connection and a mediocre FREE breakfast bar, and FREE parking!
Free breakfast was nothing to write home about, the coffee was mediocre and it’s your typical continental setup with a waffle station. It’s free what are you going to complain about, cup of coffee and a slice of toast is all you need.
Rooms were OK… only there a couple of days so not much to complain about. The staff were great… they are extremely accommodating and goes that extra mile you would expect at a 5 star hotel. If it were not for the helpful staff, I would probably rate this hotel a 3 star.
