Donut Burst

This is. The absolute. Best donut place. Huge portions. Good service. So many options.

I thought I would be happy being in walking distance to a doughnut shop, all I am is fatter.
Donut burst is a family owned and operated shop that has great fritters, good glazed donuts and good coffee. They open early and are open at a decent time in the evening as well. I also tried their gyro breakfast sandwich and it was a nice change from the norms. The gyro meat was delicious it comes with scrambled eggs, cheese, tazitki [sp*] sauce and a dsj of hot sauce and it was good. the service is extremely friendly and welcoming even with difficult customers, they are patient and kind. (Why do you assume it’s me? try some weirdo who seemed all methed out).

This is my second time at Donut Burst and the glazed are by far my favorite. My husband had their gyro sandwich and he loved it! Great mom and pop donut shop in our area!

I have been to this place a couple times and always had a nice experience until today. Today I was not warmly welcomed. I am currently training a Guide Dog for the Blind and when I brought her in, I was told I could not have her in there. I informed him that she was a service dog in training (she had her vest and proper certifications clearly displayed). He responded like he didn’t believe me and just ignored me until I got to the front of the line. Then I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches and 6 donuts. By the time I finished picking donuts, the line had increased to about 6 people. He then told me that he could not make my breakfast sandwich! He said he was short staffed and there were too many customers. I would have appreciated an offer to wait to make my sandwich until after he helped those customers, which I gladly would have accepted because we were not in a rush. He didn’t even finish assisting me before moving on to the next customer. No good bye or have a nice day or anything. This whole experience was very off putting and I felt that just because I had a dog with me that I did not receive the same service as everyone else. Its a shame because their donuts and breakfast sandwiches are great but I don’t plan on coming back any time soon due to that experience. Plus I will have a service dog with me for quite some time everywhere I go, which they clearly don’t have a good understanding of the laws in place for service animals.

Bought a dozen of donuts and we barely finished half, before I had to throw the rest out.
I like that this is a small «mom-​and-​pop» donut shop and always support small businesses.
But… The donuts here are overly sweet!!! Too much glaze and sugar on most of the donuts. Now, they make huge donuts but it’s too much considering the fact that it is overly sweet. Also their donuts were quite dry, made it hard to swallow without coffee or milk.
The only ones that were okay were the regular glaze donuts and the bear claw.
Not to mention, the donuts were rock solid hard the next day! That is why they had to be thrown out. I even microwaved it for a few seconds and it was still hard. That’s a bummer. Had to throw out a half-​dozen.
Maybe it was a bad day or something but I’ll pass on the donuts here if I had to buy them.
Most likely won’t be back for their donuts. Just wanted to give them a try since it is close by and wanted to support a local, small business.
Safeway donuts are a better choice and cheaper too.

Great donut shop and friendly staff. Donuts are alway fresh and delicious. Parking can get tough, but you can park in the back of the building.

Worst customer service experience ever! Individual was in back room of store on phone… seemed inconvenienced by customers in store. Bought three donuts… Realized that there was a special that day for buy one get one free. Owner did zero to make situation right. Will never set foot in this establishment again.

One of the best donuts in Denver. No joke. Donuts are one of my most favorite things ever, & these are excellent. The cake donuts have a good light fried crust but are soft & almost creamy inside. Frostings are superb. I’m a sprinkles fan, so I always get one with vanilla icing.
Also, the owners are super nice & welcoming. Truly a local delight. Whenever I bring a dozen to work, everyone raves.

This little hole in the wall donut shop is the bomb! I needed a place to meet up with someone. I live on the east side so I used Unilocal reviews to help me find this place. OMG — I really like donuts, but the cinnamon sugar crunch may be the best donut I have ever had. It is sweet and crispy on the outside, light, fluffy and full bodied in the inside. Pure bliss. Aah, I get happy just thinking about it.

I appreciate that it’s a small business, but the donuts were stale (and it was 10am)! Would not recommend– Denver has better donuts

Delicious, flavorful donuts! I loved the variety of flavors and that there were some more unique offerings. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m conflicted. I’ve been here several times before, the first few times being a pleasant experience. But lately, I have received nothing but rudeness and what I perceive to be flat out lying.
Recently I visited this location and tried ordering one of their amazing egg sandwiches, and was told by the woman behind the counter that the grill was broken. Bummer, but I decided to get a couple donuts for the road and be one my way. Several days later I returned in the afternoon and once again tried ordering an egg sandwich. This time I was told (by a different employee — a man) that you cant order egg sandwiches past 10am. I found this odd considering there were no signs posted anywhere stating this, as well as the fact that I had ordered egg sandwiches numerous times before almost always being after 1pm.
But nothing really bugged me until I commented on my bad luck and timing to the gentleman, mentioning the grill being broken a few days earlier. He looked at me with confusion, then laughed uncomfortably responding with a very weak «oh, yeah.»
To keep a long story short, I have visited this location several more times at varying times and days of the week and tried to order egg sandwiches to conflicting answers. Sometimes they let me order after 10am, sometimes the grill isn’t working, sometimes they ran out of product, etc. After a few visits it finally hit me what the issue was. Whenever there were 2 or more customers in the store, they would not let me order a sandwich. Thinking back to past visits, this theory proved to be quite true.
I understand you are a small business and don’t want to keep customers waiting (there is usually only one person working), but flat out lying to a customer multiple times to save from having to make something which you chose to offer on your menu is completely unacceptable.

Amazing doughnuts! Bought a couple of dozen for my work everybody loved them. Had a plain glazed and it was fluffy. Truly amazing!

We found this little gem when I was pregnant and the only thing I craved was donuts. Voodoo on Colfax had just opened and was super disappointed. So the search began and we found Donut Burst. The donuts are fluffy and fresh and cinnamon buns are super sticky. Just the way I like them. Ran by a family who are always very nice and friendly.

Very Unassuming Donut shop. The Donuts are great. Went in about 6am and they had the donuts ready to go. Bought a Dozen for 9 dollars. And the Clerk was friendly and when I said put in a mixture he put in the best and didnt disappoint.
At work the Donuts were gone before lunch.
Better than Winchells by far. And they serve Ice Cream.

My favorite donut place around here. I love the glazed. The fritters are huge here. Even the glazed here is bigger than most places. I wish this was closer to my work (about 15 min away) but still I’m always running late in the morning. Otherwise I would bring in some donuts for my coworkers. A downside to Donut Burst is you have to go in early or else all the good ones are gone. I like that they are open kinda late (9 pm I think). Winchells is open ²⁴⁄₇ though. So convenient. I guess maybe it’s better that I don’t live 5 minutes away from here or else id prob come more often which isn’t a good idea.

First off these donuts are amazing! The glazed is far and away the best in Denver. Thick but fluffy with a soft glaze that doesn’t crunch or fall off the donut. Trust me, they’re amazing.
I will say that if you come to the store later than 10 am you will be a bit let down because they sell out fast. And everyone knows that donuts are definitely best fresh so just save the negative reviews about stale hard donuts. You probably should have just gotten up earlier! Believe me, there ain’t nothing stale about them if you go in the morning!
Last, complaints about the fact that they have older yellow booths is simply dumb. Have you been to a donut shop before?! They all have older looking booths! At least all of the good ones do! You may find some ultra hipster donut spot in RINO that has reclaimed wood booths and donuts that are made from hand squeezed maple trees with Sriracha glaze but let’s be honest, if you want the Classic donut, you’re gonna get some older booths and it’s gonna be in a strip mall! Oh, and the review about these being shipped in from Winchells… Simply dumb. I don’t know where she got that but I’ve had Winchells MANY times and they’re nowhere near as good.
Come for the donuts and you’ll be VERY glad you did!

Today I found out the delicious coffee they use is Boyd’s, that’s an automatic 5 star rating! Having tried Boyd’s coffee at The Old Spaghetti Factory and enjoyed it so much, I will love any place that has good taste to serve Boyd’s coffee! Next time I’ll have to chat with him more to learn the reason behind the choice, can’t wait!
I’ve never had a bear claw before and probably wouldn’t have hesitated if not for the fillings. I’m just not crazy about filled donuts. That said, I still met my goal of getting a giant donut in the shape of a Cinnamon Roll! Less than a week ago I had the very similar «Coffee Roll» at Dunkin’ Donut (much smaller, regular donut size) so I think my comparison is fair in saying Donut Bursts’ (DB) is better! While their raised dough always tastes a little too «yeast-​y», I like that it doesn’t stick to my teeth. Whereas Dunkin’s does and is drenched in glaze. DB’s light coating of glaze is what I prefer. I’m not sure if the yeast-​y flavor and the less runny glaze are signs of old pastry? (sure hope they don’t serve overnight donuts!) but they still look and taste pretty good.
I’ve also tried the breakfast sandwich (just a bite, it was my dad’s order), and it came in a form of a Gyro with some spiced up potatoes. Kind of unexpected but it was not bad!
I see that they put out a few small tables outside for folks that like the patio feel. There are now signs on the door showing they serve ice cream (soft serve) and smoothies. Way to go, I hope business is good for them!

I’m not really sure about all the positive reviews on this one. While there was at least a good selection of donuts and other things to choose from, nothing was very good and my donuts were especially dry and tasteless. In fact, I ended up throwing them out after only eating 1. The twist I got was also just a dry mess of dough that was also pretty unimpressive.
I would rather have the donuts that they clearance at King Soopers in the late evening that go to this place again, actually.

I hate to «Burst» your bubble, Unilocalers, but boy did you get it wrong on this place.
First of all, it’s filthy. Not just «Old yellow booths that are leftover from whatever was here in the 1970s when this shopping strip was built» dirty (Because that kinda Retro-​Vibe woulda been cool)… But just… Dirt. I get that it’s Fly season, but could you keep the gnats out of your Donut cases? Because Donut Burst does not.
Secondly, from the «FRITTERS!!!» sign in the window to the «FANCIES!!!» banner on the interior wall to the actual Donuts themselves… This is a Winchell’s! Sorry, kids, these are WINCHELL’S Donuts. Not that I have a problem with Winchell’s, I’m actually a fan, but I’ll go to a Winchell’s location, where they’re fried fresh, and get them there. (For cheaper!) I won’t pay premium prices for «Fresh» Donuts that have been made elsewhere and trucked in, just to sit in a heap, dumped on top of a rack in the back of what tries to present itself as an «independent» Donut Store.
That’s like eating those «FRESH!» Krispy Kreme donuts that are delivered to the grocery store. There’s just no point.
