Comfort Suites Lakewood – Denver

All staff was great during this stay especially Vicki and Dana… great service and always pleasant if i ever come to Colorado i will definitely come back!

Crap staff, smelly rooms, noise. Forget the excuse about renovations… avoid this place like the plague.

Great hotel. Breakfast is amazing for the price. Access from the highway is easy, but getting back on requires driving away from the highway, then navigate a u-​turn. The lobby is welcoming, and the staff is very accommodating with requests. Even the smaller rooms are suite like. The parking seems a little different, but not totally unusable. being split between front and back of property.

This is a great mid-​range hotel in lovely Lakewood. It’s located in a corporate business area near highway 285 but there are several restaurants within walking distance. Buses on S. Wadsworth will take you north to catch the light rail downtown or south to yuppie shopping areas complete with several malls, fast food restaurants and an REI. There is ample parking and the grounds are simply but nicely maintained.
My room was clean and the décor modern. There was a large, comfy desk and chair and a nice sitting area, particularly useful for families or business travelers. The king bed was downright luxurious (no bedbugs, I always check). The hotel was quiet and I slept very well. I had daily business meetings during my stay and definitely appreciated the iron and ironing board in my room so I could touch up my clothes. I used the fridge and coffee maker every day. On the few days I slept in with the «Do Not Disturb» sign on my door, housekeeping slipped a polite little note under my door saying they didn’t want to disturb me but if I needed anything to just ask. That is a nice courtesy and I’d like to see more hotels doing it.
One of the best things about my stay was the breakfast. I stayed more than a week and ate the complimentary breakfast in the hotel every day. It was always hot, plentiful and delicious, particularly the Belgian waffles. The dining room was clean. One or two attendants were always on hand and wished you a cheery, «Good morning!» It could use a little more seating but other guests were always happy to share a table so it wasn’t really a problem. I met many of the staff and they were consistently smiling and friendly. I went to the front desk at least once a day for things like change for the laundry room or local area information. It was always staffed by someone affable and accommodating.
The feel of the hotel is laid-​back and comfortable. The lobby seemed too hot for summer but the air conditioning in my room was excellent. I also appreciated the little business center in the lobby. I needed to use the Internet several times and found my phone was too slow so it was very convenient to be able to use the computer and printer they had available to guests in the lobby. No one else ever seemed to use it so it was always available and there was no charge to use it.
I didn’t use the pool or hot tub or exercise room for lack of time but I peeked in while I was there. They were clean and in good working order. There was usually a guest in the pool or hot tub and both areas were supplied with stacks of clean, fluffy towels. In addition to the standard big screen t.v. in the exercise room there was a water cooler and cups which I thought was a nice touch.
Room 127 is haunted. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

I have experienced better with Comfort Suites! Almost every other Comfort Suites we have stayed in has been better than this hotel. It is not set up for the business traveler.
1. Only some rooms have doors dividing the living room from the bedroom (you have to request this when reserving a suite).
2. The desk is located in the bedroom!
3. There is not a phone on the desk. Nor is there a phone that reaches the desk!
4. No TV in the living room.
5. The doors between the living room and bedroom do not shut properly. It appears there used to be magnets to hold the doors closed, but they have been removed.
The upsides:
1. Large room

3. Free, hot breakfast (6:30−9:30am).
4. Comfortable bed & pillows
5. Sitting area (with sofabed)
6. Refrigerator and microwave in room
7. Indoor pool and spa
While my husband and I were in town, he needed to work from the hotel room. He usually gets up early (6am) to work while I am still sleeping. This is why we typically book a room at a suites hotel so he can work from the desk in the living room while I sleep in.
Also, not having a phone at the desk makes conference calls difficult. Had to move from the desk work space to either the sofa or the bed to use the hotel room’s phone.
Not having a TV in the living room really defeats the purpose of having a separate living space. When we checked in, we ended up sitting on the bed checking email on our laptops while watching TV.

I’m giving this place ONE star based on the fact that we have a jacuzzi suite, plus it is within walking distance of Old Chicago and Denny’s. That’s about it for the positives.
WHERE do I begin? Hmm… let’s see.
I booked the reservation for this hotel on Expedia, sight unseen, because I wanted to be in close proximity to Red Rocks and another place I took my girl. We stayed at a Comfort Suites the week earlier and found success, so I figured this was an ok bet. Wrong.
I called ahead to verify with the hotel, specifically, Monica, that everything would be perfect with our reservation. I requested an upper floor room, with a mountain view. There’s only 3 floors, but I called early enough in the morning that everything should have been taken care of by check-​in.
I showed up after work, around 7pm, to check in. When I arrived I asked the guy at the desk if the hotel had taken care of us and upgraded us as requested. He had his headphones in and stared blankly at me. He had a disheveled appearance and seemed unprepared to interact with guests, or anyone of the human race for that matter. When I asked again he gave me a dismissive look and said, «all rooms are the same, what are you talking about»? So I said, I called earlier and made a few requests and Monica promised me everything would be taken care of and that there would be jacuzzi suites available, to which he replied, «Monica is an idiot». No joke.
Well…I said, nevermind. Just tell me you hooked us up with a top floor room facing the mountains and we’ll be good. Guess what he said??? He said, «we’ve got you in room 104 and it’s NOT facing the mountains». Ummm… ok? So the complete opposite of my request basically. I said, «we’re booked for 3 nights – I’m prepared to pay the difference on an upgrade or cancel the reservation altogether. He said, go ahead and cancel but I have nothing else to offer you. Which, as it turns out, was not true at all. He found 2 rooms on the second floor – both standard 2 queen bed rooms, neither facing the mountains. At least we have progress not being on the bottom floor, right? Wrong again. I looked at both rooms and looked at them twice and eventually said, I guess I’ll take the lesser of two evils — -both were horrible and the room cleaning looked like it had been done by a 9 year old.
When I called Expedia to tell them to cancel my reservation I came back inside and let him know that Expedia was paying for my room for one night and we’d be cancelling the rest of our stay and going elsewhere. Then guess what he said???
He said, we have a THIRD FLOOR jacuzzi suite facing the MOUNTAINS and I’d be happy to upgrade you, for free. Not even making this up. Sooooo. I looked at him for a long long time before I replied, «your sign here that says the water will be out from 11am-​noon «tomarrow» has tomorrow spelled wrong». He said Monica made the sign – of course she did. There can’t be more than ONE idiot working there, right? Impossible. He promptly ripped up the sign and issued me my room keys. I tell him that in the morning I will be talking to the manager about the many issues and he says, «I am the manager». LOL. Ok. That explains A LOT. At any rate, I just shake my head at him and off to the penthouse suite I go – up the rickety, creaky, dilapidated elevator to the 3^rd floor.
Upon arrival I notice that there’s a few issues with the room — mainly the fact that the window hasn’t been cleaned from the outside in an eternity, and is ridiculously dirty – but at least we have a view of the mountains, albeit a very dirty view. There’s also not a TV in the living room at all. NONE. which makes having a suite with a living room pointless unless you packed a monopoly game to play on the coffee table in there – wait, actually there was NO coffee table.
The bed is surprisingly comfortable, as were the pillows. Everyone seems to complain about the pillows — they are purposefully small, but I didn’t mind. What I did mind was us getting woken? waken? up in the middle of the night by a LOUD noise in the bathroom. The spigot fell off – you know, the part where water usually comes out? Yeah, it fell off. I called the front desk and was greeted with overly uninterested customer service. I had to be at work in the morning and was now left to no device to take a shower – eventually going to work «dirty».
So…maintenance comes the next day to fix the shower. My girl is there by herself and they tell her we have to move rooms – down to the 2^nd floor, but still with a view of the mountains, and still in a jacuzzi suite. The «view» of the mountains is actually obstructed by a giant tree, but whatever. The gas chamber would have provided a better view at this point. Well, my girl moves us and remembers she left the left our liquor in the fridge upstairs. She went back to get it and it was GONE. The bad news? We STILL have one more night left on our stay.

Pretty much what you would expect. If you’re looking for a place to stay that has a bed, bathroom and fridge it’s not a bad deal. They also have free wi-​fi, added plus!
Front desk ppl are helpful if they’re there (⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance of that).
