Colpar Hobbies

Would be a 5 star because the store and everything in it is AWESOME!!! But the guy in the rc department every time I go in is grumpy and rude. I have spent over 550 $ within the last 3 weeks at Hobby Town and have been in multiple times, and it seems as though he would rather not be there or help you out or answer questions. Out of the box, my 12 v charger worked intermittently at best and finally quit working all together. I took it in to see if it could be repaired, and he accused me of damaging it. I told him I am happy to buy one that works and he just went on and on about how I or someone must have tampered with it. He then proceeded NOT to show me the new chargers! Dude I am there to spend money– treat your customers better! When I am the only guy in the store in the RC department, sell me some stuff instead of be a prick.
On the other hand, Sid at Aurora Hobby Town is so knowledgable and provides excellent customer service. I will be driving twice the distance to buy from him. Sid and Aurora get 5 stars.

The staff are nice and helpful, but the store is addicting and you will find your wallet empty soon.

Typically very disrespectful and very unhelpful the only one that is respectful is Jeff he is the only helpful one in the whole store

Nice selection of games — we keep getting invited to the Friday @ 4pm game nights, so that is what we came for tonight. Had to use the restroom which was SOOOO gross (like orangutans had been having a poop fight in there)! So we didn’t stay for game night. Maybe we’ll try again sometime, but maybe not.
Nice staff, though, and good selection. But they need some sale prices on some of their games to really get me to want to keep coming back. :)

Great hobby store, we’ve purchased 2 R/​C trucks and 1 Airplane. The best asset to this store is the employees, they are so knowledgable and willing to go out of their way to help you. Hard to find that these days and there’s always like 3 – 4 guys working there. Sure would like to see them move further south to the southwest plaza area. I’ll keep going though regardless of the drive.

I cant say enough wonderful things about this hobby shop. I have been a patron for some 15 years. It has always had an excellent staff that is patient, full of knowledge, and very friendly. I’m heading to the store now to pick up an airbrush hose that I recently ordered. It took them less than a week to call me and tell me that my order had arrived. Great shop!

Why is it that hobby shops tend to be staffed with condescending nerds who lack social skills? This place is an exception. I went in as a first-​time RCer and they took a lot of time to walk through a plan with me and get me in the right direction. Very kind and supportive. Jeff in particular was great.
Looking forward to returning here as I progress.

And Colpar Hobbies definitely sells Stuff. And Things.
RC Planes and Helicopters and Cars. Model Car Kits. DieCast collectibles. Puzzles. Paints of all finishes and qualities, and the brushes of various sized to go with them. Glitter and Chrome finish kits. RPG Gaming books and miniatures and all the accouterments you need to keep yourself snugly at home in your Mom’s basement. With Mountain Dew. And Cheetos.
And the Man usually leaves smiling, which makes me happy.

I have been coming to Colpar Hobbies for over 30 years. It’s pretty much the only good hobby store on the west side of town. They have another store east in Aurora too. It used to be family owned and operated but they have in recent years been bought by a national chain, Hobbytown USA. Despite the new management, it fortunately still has that family-​owned feel. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable and always helpful.
They stock a really good selection of plastic model kits you won’t find anywhere else, including hard-​to-​find import kits. There’s a large selection of RC model kits here as well. If you are into RPG games they have everything you need from dice and gaming books to scaled miniatures. I remember buying my Dungeons & Dragons books and modules here back in the 80’s so it’s nice to see not much has changed.
I come here often to replenish my pollyscale acrylic paints for my pet projects which they keep pretty well stocked. They also carry my more expensive acrylics from Tamiya which I can’t find anywhere else. They will always order or transfer inventory over from their other store if they are out of stock. I do still have to make the jaunt over to Caboose Hobbies when I need more specific Floquil pollyscale color paints as it seems that is the only place in Denver to get them.
Be sure to stop and look at all of the wonderful and professionally painted model kits on display in the glass cases as you come through the door. I have been inspired by them for years. Colpar remains the reliable go-​to place for my trivial hobby needs.

This is my shop of choice for RPG stuff! Great selection of minifigs and books, and a good amount of dice and board games, too. I can spend hours here.

My son had been dying to get a real RC car, not a toy version from Target. I’ve driven past Colpar a bizillion times and didn’t notice it until I was finally prepared to say yes to the new toy, er… car. It’s in the Mission Trace shopping maze at 285 & Wads.
I am so glad we chose Colpar as the place to go. I was utterly clueless as to what to get and then what to do with it. We told the clerk our budget and she pulled a couple of appropriate vehicles. When we discovered a connector issue once we got the car home, they were kind enough to switch out the connector and give my son a tutorial on charging and operating his new toy, er … car.
They have a good selection of puzzles, trains, role-​playing, etc.
Having tried to shop at the RC place in Highlands Ranch, this was a far superior experience, with friendly customer service and satisfied customers.

Holy cow. Colpar West is an amazing hobby shop! The service is fantastic, the level of knowledge there is beyond belief and the inventory is very impressive. As far as hobbies are concerned, I can only really speak as an RC enthusiast but Colpar West does it all
