Jose is a great mechanic with very fair prices. I have had a tandem, mountain bike, and road bike all serviced by Jose recently. Tune up was half of what Performance would have charged. The MB was skipping the chain and now is great. Will keep coming back.

Jose is extremely helpful, let me test every kind of bike he has. Good racing and hybrid bikes. Awesome customer service!

This bike shop was a great find. We were staying with friends in Lakewood and wanted to ride down the San Gabriel river bike trail down to the ocean at Seal Beach. The other local and chain bike shops did not offer bike rentals but California Cycles was happy to rent us bikes for a reasonable price. The owner was very friendly and accommodating and the ride was fun. Highly recommended.

Horrible customer service. Horrible bicycle know-​how. Sold me a faulty wheel in the wrong size and when i tried to return they refused. Plan to file action against them for dishonest business practices. Avoid at all costs.

Came here some months ago with my son to have his bike wheels repaired. Talked with Jose who was very personable and helpful. Job was completed while we waited for a reasonable price. Have come here 3 times since. The last 2 visits were in the last week. A new guy is there, found out Jose is doing swap meets now. My son had a bike accident and needed new tubes and truing wheels. Was told it would be 2 days til finished. I called after 3 days, they had difficulty finding the wheels but eventually said they were ready for pick up. I came over within 30 mins only to find out the tubes hadn’t been changed. So I had to wait for at least 45 mins since this guy was busy with a bunch of bike riders. Paid $ 52, a bit high! My son rode the bike once and the tire went flat. Just took it in this afternoon, and the guy said nothing wrong with tire, but needed a new tube. Wanted to charge $ 12 again but said he would charge $ 6. When the tube was removed there was a hole in the tube seam… obviously a flaw that should have been sent back to manufacturer for refund. We should have just been given a new one for free. We get home and my son notices a small bubble in the tire. As he is showing it to me, the entire tire pops loudly and instantly deflates. I’m furious! DO NOT GO HERE! This guy doesn’t know what the hell he is doing! Wish Jose was still there…

I always get great service when i come in here. They’re always polite and helpful. The prices are great and they fix my bike on the spot. If they dont have what i need in stock, they order it right away. I just ordered a basket for the front of my bike so i can ride around with my dog. (Cant wait until that comes in)

My daughter has a Hybike (electric scooter sold out of Phoenix AZ). The bike fell over some time ago bending one of the pedal cranks. This made it extremely difficult to pedal if the battery went dead. Most bike shops won’t touch these Chinese electric scooters and I went into California Cycle Sport with the intension of purchasing a crank extractor so that I could repair the bent crank myself. After speaking with Jose, he convinced me to bring the scooter in the next morning to have the repair done at the shop. My daughter rode the bike down to the shop the next morning and a few hours later I received a call that the work was completed. The cost to have the repair done at the shop was not much more than the cost of the tool that I had intended on purchasing in order to attempt the repair myself and who knows what kind of disaster that could have turned out to be!!!

New guy took over, went there once, felt the quality was a little down, the price a little up, nothing to write a review over. Fast forwards some time, I went on vacation for a week and wanted a bike tune-​up from Performance Bike. They told me it would be 10 days before they could get it back to me, meaning three days after I get back I’m still without the bike. That was the only reason I went here again.
Even worse than before, the price was better, free. Why, because even though I got assurances it would be ready for my return and I even called two days before I got back to make sure it was ready, they explained they were too busy to get to my bike. I give him points for honesty though, I asked him if any bikes came after mine for a tune-​up that he already got to and he admitted yes. So he was just too busy to take care of my bike.
LAME, LAME, LAME… will never go here again, but do plan to post in other online review spots.

Jose, the owner is wonderful! I found a old German, beat –up, rusted, folding bike on Craig’s List. I decided I wanted to restore it but didn’t have the $$ to make that happen. So Jose and I came to a deal: he took apart the bike, I took it home and rubbed off the rust until my fingers were cramping and the rust was gone! I then took the rust-​free parts back and Jessie, one of Jose’s mechanics, put it back together and gave it a clear coat to keep the rust at bay. Later I’ll be back to get the body painted and for re-​chroming. But right now I have a cool, light-​weight folding cruiser. Thanks Jose for working within my budget.

Dropped into the shop a few days ago and met Jose. He has turned a fairly moribund business into a busy, upbeat one. There are bikes all over the place and customers walking in and out. Just as an experiment, I asked him to do a small job on my favorite bike, a fifteen-​year-​old Fuji Touring Series 2. It was done promptly and perfectly. The shop, at present, is mid-​market — aimed at economy and utility rather then pro riders. It’s also constrained by limited space. But it does good work and it’s got a real future.

After being in an accident 5 months ago that pretty much wrecked my bike (but I continued to ride it anyways, it’s a long story) I finally decided that I needed to get it fixed so I could start riding again. This shop is right down the street from my house and after checking Unilocal,I decided to check it out. Boy am I glad I did! I bought my bike at a Salvation Army in San Francisco for 60 bucks about 2 years ago and it BADLY need a tune-​up/​complete overhaul. Jose fixed my out-​of-​tru tires, got me a new chain, fixed up my breaks/​break lines and completely de-​rusted my bike for a FRACTION of what I would have paid anywhere. Jose is extremely friendly and passionate about bikes. He turned my $ 60 second hand bike in to a true beauty that I am so so proud to ride and for way less!

If you live in the South Bay, you have to make your way to this shop! If you’re a CSULB student looking for a commuter bike or a cycling enthusiast in a need of tune up, I guarantee you that Jose has what you want.
NEW OWNERSHIP. The newest owner is Jose and he’s one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met at a bike shop. He bought the shop at the beginning of summer 2012 and has over 20 years of cycling experience, over 10 yrs of bike repair and maintenance. The first day I stopped in looking for a commuter bike in the $ 400 price range. He usually has a good range of bikes, from value commuters and fixies to mountain bikes, cruisers to mid-​level racing bikes. I visited a few shops in Long Beach just looking for cool bikes for value and stumbled across this little shop on the way to LB Town Center. I was drawn in by the wicked custom fixies he had in the window and had to check it out. He was so helpful to provide me with info and pricing and sized me on the spot. Before I left, we exchanged numbers and he invited me to go out and ride with him.
After a couple weeks of shopping bike stores in Long Beach, Torrance and Carson, I realized his bikes are all reasonably priced and came back to this shop. He won’t trick you into buying anything more than what you need, won’t sell you cheap parts and knows exactly what a dollar will get you in value — a skill the bigger chain stores horrendously lack. If you need any custom parts, he’ll order them for you (if he doesn’t build it himself). All his bikes have a quality you can feel in the ride and he’s a resourceful guy, too. He did a custom job on my handlebars that just looks too clean! I’ve had over a dozen compliments by cyclists and passerby and he just did the job today! He’s cheap on labor and seems to really enjoy working on bikes and cycling.
Jose plans to stock the store with more unique and custom fixies and road bikes for the holidays, so be sure to check it out before buying that bike for someone special!

Went in for a mountain bike tune up and their rates are the lowest i have ever seen. Owner «Jose» is very knowledgeable and very energetic and passionate biking enthusiast. Come here where the owner is a RIDER Himself. Thanks.

After searching local for a bike shop I can trust, I’ve finally found it. The owner was very helpful to me and extremely nice. I will definitely be back at his shop for my cylcing needs.

During the month of July, get a free tail light and flashing American flag pin with any purchase of $ 20 or more. (pictures attached)

After yearsswitching between Sport Chalet, REI, Jax, & Performance Cycles, my search has ended. Ca Cycle Sport does great work at very reasonable price (well below those mentioned). I had a major tune up and needed a new tube. All done in a few hours with excellent results!
Not sure about the other post indicating a bit pricey, just try the other shops and see what’s pricey. I don’t think you could find better pricing.
Everything in great working order, which was not always the case with the others. Highly recommended!

Didn’t catch the owner’s name the couple times I’ve gone there but glad I found this shop.
The owner will tell you straight what your bike needs and how much it’ll cost to get it done.
I’ve found other shops that are quick on service and reasonably priced but the difference is this guy cares about his work.
The other shops are what I call «quick and dirty». They don’t care enough to point out any potential problems they may spot on the bike. For novice riders, that’s dangerous because novices usually don’t know what problems their bike may have until its too late.
This will be my main go to shop for bike repairs that are beyond my knowledge.
Good prices on his parts and accessories as well.

My daughter was diagnosed with cancer at age five. She spent over six months in an Intensive Care Unit and underwent chemo-​therapy — on and off, for two years. Due to this, she lost her hair (it won’t grow back) and her growth (height, weight, etc.) was slowed way down. It’s a lot to bear for a little girl, especially since she’s aware it’s a very aggressive form… and if it recurs, her chances of making it are extremely slim.
She’s now a sophomore at Los Alamitos High School.
Most of the students there are friendly, well-​adjusted people. There are, however, a few stupid narcissistic a-​holes who think it makes THEM look cool by putting her down.
A few days ago, an «upperclassman» vandalized my daughter’s bike by cutting through the rear brake cable. This bike has only one brake, this rear one.
I did a quick search of Unilocal and found positive comments about California Cycle Sport, so took the bike there.
The owner was very friendly. He was working on another bike at the time, so told me it would be ready in two hours. An hour later I received a call that the bike was ready to pick up.
While there, he adjusted the rear wheel… as well as tightened the chain.
The charge was $ 9.59 — including tax!
Inquiring about a possible bike for myself, the owner asked a few questions… then said I would probably find a bike more suited to me down the street at Sports Authority. I was somewhat surprised that he didn’t try to talk me into one of the bikes in his own shop, as some of them looked very nice.
I don’t know about you, but it isn’t often that I’ve seen this type of honesty, service and value.
You can bet I’ll return!

Nice local shop with a friendly helpful owner. Brought my bike in for a tune up for $ 35. They’re open on Saturdays and Sundays which is convenient. Good place to bring your bike in for repairs. If you’re looking to purchase a bike, this may not be the place to see a variety in person. i will use the shop again for repairs.
