Nice open and bright vibe. Funky and oddball art on the walls. Nice baristas who are also very knowledgeable about the beer selection.

I had a very nice time at Bela Dubby. Definitely worth the drive from Toledo. Good coffee and great performances by the artists. The crowd was also great to be around.

Bela Dubby is many things. A funky coffee house complete with retro furniture and art on the walls. A bar, sort of, at least they serve beer, which seems to most folks just fine. A performance space, bands, comedy, improv, movies, pretty much anything goes. I seem to recall there even being some political rallies here during the 2008 election, and there are monthly craft shows put on by the Cleveland Craft Coalition. As a coffeehouse, I would go so far as to say that since Cravings in Rocky River moved from their old greenhouse location this is my favorite coffeehouse in Cleveland. As far as the bar aspect goes, I would think this is not a place to come get sloppy, but if you want to have a couple of beers and a great conversation without having to shout over a jukebox or other obnoxious noise, you couldn’t ask for a better place. As a performance space, well, this is where it gets a little weird. I suppose it has a lot to do with what kind of show it is. It’s a very small room so if there is any kind of crowd, the layout of the room can be a little awkward. If bands are playing, it can get really loud, really fast. That’s not to say that I haven’t seen some good shows there, but it’s not an ideal room for that purpose. The only real drawback is the lack of parking, which really only comes into play if there’s a show with a decent turnout, but it’s not going to kill you to walk a couple of extra blocks, now is it?

Even though it’s a little grubby inside for my taste I like that this place exists. Fun art on the walls, a grunged-up bar/coffee house vibe and the Smiths playing in the background? Yes please. The iced coffee was too weak for my taste, however. Stronger coffee would be good.

Sweet little place in Lakewood that gets four stars alone for showcasing a great deal of local art that wouldn’t get play anywhere else. The extra star is for hosting a bunch of local music/live events that wouldn’t be heard in many other outlets. Not too many other places can offer stand-up, crazy beat-box hip-hop, noise funk, and indie pop in the same month, let alone the same week.

Arrived at bela dubby around 11pm to catch a local hiphop show put on by a friend of mine. Acoustics… what acoustics? Its a small coffee/beer club with a laid-back atmosphere. Couches, friends, drinks, live music. Really not much more to it at this point. I hope to go back sometime during the day hours to experience the full breadth of bela dubby. She sounds like a hot woman with a spicy yet mysterious personality who always has a new get-down up her sleeve.

Yes, there are hipsters here. Get over it. It’s not a typical bar neither is its atmosphere. It’s a great place to relax and chill. There’s a few couches, fresh-brewed coffee and coffee drinks, and pizza bagels from the west side market. There’s also some art on the walls. Service from the cute hipster barista was splendid. They serve only beer, as far as I remember, but there’s a couple taps and domestic and micro bottles at reasonable prices. PS: I had a PBR when I was here. sue me.

Went to see Picklefight puppet show. Hilarious! It had Sifl n Olly elements mixed with Yo Gabba Gabba type music. The main character was a hotdog that worked at Guitar Center. The opening band was goofy and noisy. I had two house coffees of unknown bean origin and a Magic Hat bottle for the wife. Total=5 bones plus tip of 2 bones. They had 2 Brooklyn lager varieties on tap. Service was great and my booth was comfy. They also have a few couches. The show was free and i wanted to leave a donation of 5 for Picklefight, but the place was crawling with sheisty hipster youths. I figure one of those punks would just steal it. This leads me to a point on hipsterdom. They remind me of how George Harrison described hanging out with hippies in Haight Ashbury. On the surface they are carefree and communally joyful. But there is a hidden dark element that will envelope this scene as the money runs out and the PBR addictions get worse. The Charles Manson of this generation is busy interpreting Death Cab songs as messages to kill as we speak. As for Bela, i loved it. I need to go more often and enjoy the busier part of Madison ave. Unlike the tumbleweed turnpike part of Madison by my house.

I love the laid back vibe here. It is a great asset to the community; they open their doors to pretty much any group that wants to meet here, from the Lakewood Democrats to a Stich n Bitch group of ladies. They serve beer and coffee. They have free wi-fi.

I was there recently for a friend’s art opening. I give them a golden star for supporting local art. That was cool, and the lighting there is actually not too bad for hanging art. So anyway, they have some unique things to chose from when it comes to beer, as well as some standards. A limited selection, but some good ones nonetheless. This particular night a noise/art musician playing which was kind of overwhelming with the terrible acoustics and small space. Thank goodness I had ear plugs to muffle the piercing feedback. To me Bela dubby seems to be a great local spot that people frequent out of location. Other than that, there isn’t anything that would pull anyone to travel there. So if you wanna drink, I guess you can try it. Just don’t expect too much.

I like Bela Dubby. Been there 4 or 5 times, never had any trouble with hipsters. Great non-alcoholic selections, which is a nice change from most places in Lakewood that are obviously drinking bars. The art on the walls is a swell touch. I come not only to look at the art but also to buy the art and believe me I appreciate that the prices are also lower and more going back into the artist’s pocket than your average gallery show — and I can have beverages and sometimes even catch a live music show while I’m looking. Haven’t yet found a gallery that can top that. Bela Dubby is the kind of establishment I’d like to see more of.
