After Hours Veterinary Care

Bottom line is that I will never go back to this place.
Some friends told me to check out this vet because he was cheap. I made an appointment for 4. The lady at the front desk was super rude and the vet tech that took me to the room didn’t have anything nice to say either. After the vet tech said the doctor would come to see me, I waited for a FULL HOUR with nobody coming in. When I went out to tell the person at the front desk, she was nowhere to be found. –BUT– the worst part of the entire experience was that I could hear someone in the back yelling at animals– definitely not the way you want a «professional» to handle your pet. When your whole career centers around the care of animals, you would think that the people working for you would exude some type of love and compassion. My fur baby and I will never return!

Extremely frustrated. After confirming hours online and by phone, and then again by someone at the office… I was told I could bring my puppy in for shots today in between appointments. After waiting thirty minutes for someone to even come to the front desk (the facility is open) I am told that they are closed. I was referred to this specific clinic and waited to come today instead of going elsewhere. I now have a puppy that has to be stuck in the bathroom away from family and other animals until I can find someone to get us in Monday. I will be finding another clinic. Waste of my time

Dr. G is an excellent vat and equally excellent human being. His work is always of the highest quality and his prices are very fair. He also does substantially discounted work for many rescues and has helped save the lives of hundreds of pets. That said his clinic does suffer from the bane of all places that provide excellent quality at reasonable prices. The wait can be long. It is not unreasonable to expect an hour wait to be seen even with your appointment but based on the care he has given our mutts as well as the myriad of rescues that have come through the house it is well worth the investment of time.

No longer a fan. Haven’t been able to see the vet himself in the last three or four visits, the tech are doing all the work, missing Bloodwork and results were never resolved, constantly overbooked anymore, and I’m looking for a new vet

A guy who did some work for me recommended Dr T when I told him that I couldn’t afford to get my dog’s teeth worked on at the clinic on Harlan in Wheat Ridge where I first went. That vet wanted $ 800+. Dr T worked on my dog, gave him antibiotics first (when I asked at the first office she said «He doesn’t need them» and only charged me $ 250.
I took him back when he injured his back leaping like a maniac at the fence in the back yard. The dog was shaking and shivering and drooling — he was a mess. Dr T got right down on the floor with him and fixed him right up. No expensive procedures, just an exam and some meds and we were on our way for $ 60.
This is the kind of vet care I have been searching for since moving to CO from AZ. I can do without the multi-​million dollar facility that I must pay for when my dog needs vet care. I cannot afford to pay $ 700 when another dog bites my dog as happened with the dog I had before this one. I recommend them without reservation.

Dr G. is an amazing vet. I have referred over 5 people to him and they are all satisfied. He loves animals and will do anything he can to help them. He has helped me twice with my senior german shepherd and with many foster dogs I have had. He is the best vet in Colorado.
I really don’t have any other words to describe him, but AMAZING seems to cover it.

I didn’t get to speak to Dr. G very long when I dropped my dog off, but you can tell that he really loves animals by the support he gives to the dog rescue community. I adopted my dog just a week before my visit and he suffers from aggression to people and dogs due to poor socialization by his previous owner, something which is not acceptable for a big breed such as the German Shepherd. I told Dr. G that I did not know if he would be ok and he immediately took his leash and said it would be ok and started to speak to him in Russian, and taking control of him. Apparently my dog did incredibly well with him (he used to train German Shepherds) and I was out the door a few hours later with a newly neutered dog with all of his up-​to-​date shots for a very fair price. You will not find a fancy waiting room, or get pampered as a human here, but overall I am very happy with my visit. I had to deduct one star because I would have liked to have been able to speak with Dr. G a little bit more before and after I picked my dog up, but he was very, very busy. For this I deducted one star.
Dr. G referred me to a dog trainer, and I hope that the next time we visit his clinic that my dog will be more mentally balanced and at peace.

Our 17-​year-​old black cat named spirit had gotten very ill very fast. We knew that he would need help in order to be able to pass away. Being new to this area I did not know of a veterinary hospital that I could go to and trust
Several of my friends recommended Dr. G to me.
We went in without ever meeting Dr. G or his staff. And had to come to literally say goodbye to her best friend. The staff was warm and kind and very very gentle with our kitty. Dr. G himself is so bighearted so kind so gentle and so respectful. He insured that our best friend had a peaceful quiet and respectful ending to an absolutely fabulous life. Thank you Dr. G for the love that you showed to my daughter and I while saying goodbye to our dear friend Spirit.

Horrible service. I took my 2 puppies there, because it was the vet covered by the rescue we got our puppies from. I would rather have paid then go back. I was told to show up, they don’t do apt, between 9 – 11 to get my dogs shots, fixed, and micro chipped and that my wait would be 15 minutes. I showed up at 10, spent 40 minutes in the over crowded waiting room, was finally shown into a separate room and told the vet would be right in, 25 minutes later he came in barely looked at my puppies at all. I expected to be able to ask a few questions but he weighed them in a minute or 2 and started to head out, telling me that they would call when my puppies were done. I’d heard other people being told to come by 7 so I asked if I should be there 7 latest, and was told no we will call. I left and thinking it might be a few hours I hung out in the area, 40 minutes from my home for a few hours. I headed home and continued to wait. By 5 I was worried and called to see how they were doing, the person who answered the phone was rude, didn’t greet me but started yelling at a coworker after answering. When he finally acknowledged me he told me my puppies had been ready for a while and not to rush over. When we got there we told the receptionist our dogs names, 15 minutes later, and no puppies, he yelled back ‘have you found the puppies yet or are they still lost?’ Seriously!!! A few minutes later we had our dogs and were handed their meds with out explanation. Having never had a dog before I asked about the meds and recovery and was brushed off. We asked for cones to keep them from licking the stiches and that took another ten minutes. Today, a day later I was called asking if I got there rabies tags, again this is my first dog I didn’t know they needed these! I said no and they told me I would need to come back for them, another 30 minute drive. so unhappy with service and attitudes there, id rather pay a bit more and get decent service from people who don’t somehow loose my dogs… I won’t be back.

Simply put, Dr. G is the best vet ever! He loves animals, and it truly shows in his practices. My family has been going to this vet clinic for well over 10 years, from Dr. Joo, who retired, to Dr. G. He doesn’t over charge or do laps and tests that cost a fortune, he does whats needed and charges very fairly. I wouldn’t take my dogs any where else!

Reliable, reasonable, and honest. Their prices are the best and they are very caring. They saved my dogs life and did so without emptying my bank account. The vets in South Denver want to charge me thousands of dollars for a surgery and Red Rock Animal center only charged me a couple hundred for that same procedure. I drive 30 mins to see these vets because they are truly the best and most reasonably priced. I’m very thankful for them.

I have known Dr. Genna for a little over 3 years now and I know he will continue to be my vet for many more years to come. He has done incredibly things for my dogs (saving my 9 year old dog from a life threatening fever — 106.5 °F — and removing a splinter from the cornea of my puppy). Every friend I have recommended him to gives me great feedback on their experiences. Just about every time I am there I find myself speaking to other clients that also have their own wonderful stories of what Dr. G has done for them and their pets.

To begin, Dr. G saved my dog’s life so I have trouble with words… explaining how great this man is is going to be very hard.
I will tell the FULL story (sorry it’s a bit long) because this man proved his worth multiple times throughout this whole ordeal.
My dog Fox had a rigid abdomen for about 2 weeks before I was able to get her in to see Dr. G. I went on the recommendation of a friend and I was not disappointed. Fox wasn’t showing any symptoms so I wasn’t too concerned, I called Dr. G. on a Tuesday and was able to get a same day appointment. The office was busy because of multiple emergencies during the day so the start of the appointment was a bit late, but for good reason.
Dr. G has such a way with animals it’s hard to explain, my dog isn’t a huge fan of strangers but she was immediately drawn to Dr. G, he talked to her calmly and she let him feel her belly which she hadn’t even let me do that day. He informed me that he thought her spleen was enlarged but he would have to take xrays, after he came back with xrays he showed me that her abdomen was completely filled with a mass which he believed to be her spleen or liver. He said he would have to do exploratory surgery or send in a biopsy to find out. There was no beating around the bush, no need for other diagnostic measures, he just knew. I know I’m not the only one concerned about price so I asked him how much this would run me and he told me $ 400 for the surgery, and $ 120 for the biopsy. Being a vet tech student I immediately knew this was an extremely generous price. I agreed to the surgery. He said she could stay overnight on Tuesday (for NO charge) and he would do the surgery Wednesday morning and call me. I left that visit paying only $ 40 for an office visit.
I didn’t receive a call so being the crazy dog mom that I am I called them, he informed me that there were multiple emergencies that morning but he would do the surgery as soon as possible. More emergencies came in I assume so as of 4:30 pm that evening still no surgery had been done. This may seem concerning to some but Dr. G truely cares and is going to take care of his most emergent patients first. He called me at 9:45 p.m. that evening to inform me that he had removed her spleen which was 7 pounds and the size of a football. He was very calming on the phone and assured me my dog was okay and I could pick her up the next day.
When I went to get her the next day I couldn’t believe the change in my dog. He met with me briefly to explain the medication as well as enthusing that he had never seen a dog recover as quickly as her. I payed $ 520 dollars, for the surgery, the x-​rays, the medications, and two overnight stays. (For curiousitys sake, I called other offices and they were quoting me $ 1500 — $ 3000 for the surgery ALONE)
That evening Fox started having diarrhea which is extremely unlike her, so I called the office Friday morning FREAKING out, he told me to discontinue the antibiotics for a day to see if that solved the problem and to call him if it did. Here comes another truely shocking moment. He gave me his personal cell phone number. This is UNHEARD of in any medical field. The antibiotics seemed to be the issue so we discontinued those, however on Sunday I was concerned about how her incision looked and texted Dr. G for advice. He met me at the office, ON HIS DAY OFF, to look at my dog’s incision free of charge. The man knelt down in the parking lot to look at my dog’s incision.
A few days later, Dr. G called my dog a miracle while walking me through her biopsy results (CANCER FREE)!!
This man is unlike anyone you will ever meet, upon first meeting him he does seem a bit shy and reserved but the more you interact with him the more you realize he truely has a passion for animals and it’s not all about the money. The office isn’t the most modern high-​tech office you will see but he takes the money he saves on his facilities and puts them into helping the animals! You can sit in the waiting room and listen to people talk wonders about this man. The staff are all nice, and very patient! Especially with me calling so often checking in on my dog! I can’t recommend this facility or doctor enough! A++++++++++!

I am very impressed by Dr G and his staff. I am a dog groomer and have personal knowledge of many vets and their services. Most are good vets and clinics, but Dr. G is one of the most caring and compassionate vets I have ever known. The animal is his first concern and he is very straight forward and knowledgeable. It is truly my pleasure to know him and give him a 5 star plus reccomentation. The new location is great and very easy to get to.

A god send for the everyday pet owner! Let me first say that the clinic accepts donations so PLEASE don’t show up empty handed. What’s the best thing to bring? They accept old pill bottles which they reuse to distribute meds. (Yet another way they save money.) Call the clinic for other items they rely on donations for.
I am 34 and I first set foot in Dr. Joo’s office when I was 5 years old with my first dog, Sandy. They have always put animals ahead of making money and the same is true now, 30 years later. Although Dr Joo is retired, the clinic — and the animals — are in excellent hands. I loved Dr G. I was so worried about my dog’s condition but he was calm and in control and I felt certain that Saint was receiving the best possible care. He even made jokes to calm me down (which flew right over my head because of my head full of worries for my sweet old Saint doggers.) I waited an hour as a walk-​in but when it was Saint’s turn I felt that Dr G took the time to address all facets of Saint’s problem — a sudden onset of allergies so bad that he was losing patches of fur and growing sores all over his body in the space of just a week. (He is a pure bred German Shepherd and they are notorious for allergies.) Dr G gave him an anti-​inflammatory, pain killers and a steroid. Three meds and the visit cost me only $ 63! In just 24 hours, the gleam is back in my little boy’s eyes and he is obviously feeling much better. There is no way that we would have seen such progress with his pain, his itching and his hair loss if it weren’t for Dr G’s comprehensive diagnosis of Saint’s condition. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I have been taking my pets to After Hours Veterinary Care since 1991 when Dr. Joo ran the practice. Dr G took over the practice several years ago when Dr. Joo retired. Dr G is so very compassionate and gentle. He makes himself available day or night and his main concern is your pet. He has an abundance of clients and is very busy. But, he is worth the wait! I live near Parker and try to schedule routine visits at his Orchard and I25 office. But when the need arises, I gladly drive out west to see him. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Their old location was not a state of the art facility, but that was how he kept his rates low. They are in a new location (now Red Rocks Veterinary Clinic) and I have heard customers say that the facilities are much nicer than the old office.
Once you meet Dr G and see how he cares for your pet, you will never look for a new vet. You will come for the affordable vet care prices and stay for the AMAZING vet care. Initially, I came across town because the prices were so reasonable. Now I drive across town (or just to Orchard and I25) because Dr G is a fabulous vet and is very good with my animals and so dedicated to his practice. He works endless hours and never complains.
I hope to never have to find another vet as there no other vets that can compare to Dr G. Sadie Jo, Bentley, and Emmy Lou love Dr G!

I brought my Shiba Inu Wiley here under recommendation from a regular at work and a coworker. It was busy but I was able to see Dr G within 30 minutes (no appointment). He was very good with Wiley and very direct about what our course of treatment should be for his hip. There was no beating around the bush, which I appreciated tremendously.
I got out of there with the vet check, all shots except rabies, and anti-​inflammatories for less than $ 40.
I have to bring Wiley back soon for a check up on his hip and I am hopeful that it is good news. However, if it isn’t I know Dr G will take great care of my Wiley.

I am so upset by this. My family has taken our pets to After Hours Vet Care for probably 30 years! I just received a post card indicating my pets were due for their vaccinations. #1 my last name is not even close to what they have on the card and #2 there is no indication of a new location. In fact it still has the address on S Union. I call the number there isn’t even anything on the machine indicating the name was changed let alone the location! This is no way to do business! I am really perturbed by this. Dr Joo was my family vet for years until he retired and Dr G took over. I continued to take my pets there because the prices stayed reasonable but I can tell you what, I wont be taking my pets there now. The location isn’t anywhere near convenient anyway.

Ok not only have they moved, but they are now known as Red Rocks Veterinary Clinic. Dr G and his crew also have a facility in Greenwood Village where the see patients on Thursdays.
Our little Havanese girl had an accident and as a result injured her stifle (knee). We simply couldn’t afford or stand the one local surgeon in Castle Rock so we tried to give her some time to heal, with a brace and supplements, and futile attempts to keep her from running around and while it seemed to work for awhile, the last two weeks she was getting significantly worse.
Anyway, I was referred to Dr. G by someone in Colorado Springs and we went to the Greenwood Village location on Thursday. I was much surprised the location was much cleaner than the local animal hospital, especially to the nose and Dr G hustles! He saw 4 dogs before us and while very good with the dogs he was also very precise and definitive in his diagnosis. «Your dog needs surgery Yes!»
Dr G kept our Lover Girl that day and took her to his Lakewood location for a Friday surgery. We picked her up Saturday midday. The place was hopping! There were at least 6 other patients there and a number of people who came in an out. They also have grooming and pet supplies to one side.
The facility was extremely clean and pleasant smelling and the attention to us was prompt and cordial. The nurse brought out Lover Girl who was all bandaged up but quite alert and thrilled to see us. We received 3 prescriptions, two for pain and one antibiotic and then we paid the bill with instructions to return Friday after 11AM for a post surgery exam.
Oh the best part. The total charge for the surgery and two nights in the vet.
$ 350.00 for both trochlear modification and encapsulation.
Compare that to the curt, unfriendly and nasty smelling place here in Castle Rock that wanted $ 3,500.00 for an encapsulation surgery only.
