I took my doggie here last week. I am a fairly new dog owner and we needed to get him in pronto. THis place offered around the clock hours and were willing to accommodate my guy, who can be a bit aggressive with other animals. We were able to get right in and seen by staff immediately. That is about where the pleasantries end. We weren’t even in the exam room before that staff was informing me that there is a 73.00 fee just to be seen. The doctor wouldn’t even come in until they had a credit card in hand. Once this was taken care of the Dr. did come in an exam my pup. He did seem to be very attentive, however, he began rambling on what it could be, or it could be this, or that. All in terms that I couldn’t understand. They ended up shooting him up with Morphine, prescribing him horse pill antibiotics (he had a mass on his jaw and couldn’t open up his month) and pain killers, and sending us on our way after being charged 260.00.This was after waiting over 2 hours. We ended up taking him to a different animal clinic last night as he wasn’t improving. I am not saying that this isn’t what other clinics would have done, because i don’t know, I do feel that more would have been done. The place i took him to last night, kept him. No question… I feel like Access’s main concern was money and not my dog. He also left worse than he went in. Prior to taking him there he was eating, etc. After, he hasn’t eaten since due to pain. Wont take him back there.

Our precious dog, Honey was experiencing shallow breathing and was unresponsive, so we rushed her down here as they were the closest to us. I read the the reviews about the payment and when I called they very compassionately asked the symptoms and then told us what to expect for payment. Unfortunately Honey passed away while there, nothing they could have done. The staff was very understanding and sympathetic. As I said the payment wasnt an issue. It wasnt like they would let us in the door without the money or anything. Anyway, a couple of weeks later we receive a condolence card from them handwritten. It really touched me. I felt the staff was knowledgeable and very kind overall. Losing a pet is incredibly hard and they did all they could to make it a less horrible experience. I miss Honey everyday.

First off, I read the reviews before going into this place so my fault for still heading inside. But it was the only thing I could find so late in the evening and I was worried about my cat being in pain. I usually go down the street to Lakewood hospital but they were closed. So the reviews are extremely accurate. They make you pay before even having anything done to your animal which really pissed me off. Why don’t you focus on the hurting animal and worry about being paid once we figure something out? And they have absolutely no supplies or tools to help your animal with WHATEVER the case may be unless you consider their hands being a tool. I felt like the doctor was extremely rough on my cat because she would not stop crying and freaking out (she is a calm cat and used to going to the vet.) So that was hard to watch!!! Also, felt like they had no care what was going on and just could not wait to tell you to go to the vet tomorrow. So basically we paid for nothing and now have to go to the vet tomorrow and hope that my kitty will be okay through the night. And spend more money. How are you still open?!? AND WHY?! Oh yeah, and they have cameras in the rooms which I have never seen in a vet office before. Please go somewhere else, especially if your animal looks like they are really in need of help!!!

We had the unfortunate experience of having to bring our dog in after ingesting a poisonous plant. Our 9 month old puppy wasn’t going to make it after ingesting this lethal but very common ornamental plant. She was already in organ failure and the vet said we had little recourse but to ease her suffering since she was certainly going to pass. My kids were able to say goodbye, we stayed with her while they administered the drugs and they were very gentle and kind to her. I appreciated the care they took with our dog but also with us.

worst place ever. money is their first concern and last concern. nothing for your injured pet.

The staff was great and this is way less than other «ER» vets. So we were thrilled! It is not fancy, but does it really need to be? I don’t think our dog cared. We would come back if we have another emergency. For those that complain about a deposit I bet you haven’t been to Wheat Ridge just up the road.

I just took my yorkie to ACCES on memorial day because he had an emergency. I called prior to my going there and before I could even give them any details about my emergency, I was told that «we require a $ 600 deposit up front before we see your pet. WOW WOW WOW. From before my even arriving there they were purely focused on reaching as deep as possible into my pockets and continue to get even more money out of me throughout my visit. So I first had to give them my credit card and pay a $ 600 deposit while I have a non responsive yorkie in my arms with feces all over him and foaming at the mount. Their focus was on the dollars before any care for the animal, that I am certain of and so was my wife who was with me. She was disgusted with the place from the very beginning and it only got worse!
The vet tech took the vitals and then proceeded to take my yorkie to another part of the facility to give him fluids. We waited for 1.5 hours before the vet ever came to talk to us. The vet was very cold, matter a fact and had zero bedside manner, I mean zero. She gave us a run down on what we should do including xrays (which in this case was appropriate) and told us that our dog should stay overnight for observations so he could be monitored. She then told us the vet tech would come in and go over the cost of her recommended treatment plan. One hour later the vet tech arrived and gave me a breakdown of the costs associated with what they recommended. I NEARLY PASSED OUT WHEN I SAW THE FIGURE. In addition to the $ 600 I had already spent, they racked up another $ 1,400 of recommended treatment. They seemed very ticked off that they could not collect the additional full sum of $ 1,400 as we felt he was just as well off at home. This whole ordeal took 4.5 hours out of our day. UNBELIEVABLE! They totally took advantage of the entire situation and have really no other interest in mind other than getting as much money out of you as possible.
OUR LITTLE GUY WAS IN GREAT HANDS WITH US OVERNIGHT AND HE WAS FINE BY THE END OF THE NEXT DAY WITHOUT HAVING BEEN SOAKED FOR ANOTHER $ 1,400!
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE GO TO THIS FACILITY AS THEIR INTEREST IS FIRST AND FOREMOST DOLLARS AND LOTS OF THEM. EVEN IF THEY WERE THE LAST OPTION, YOU WOULD DO MUCH BETTER GOING TO YOUR LOCAL PETSMART FOR ASSISTANCE. THEY ARE THE WORST VET FACILITY I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED AND I HAVE CALLED MY REGULAR VET TO MAKE SURE THEY KNOW ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE SO THEY WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. WHAT IS INTERESITNG IS THAT MY VET ALREADY KNEW ABOUT EXPERIENCES THEIR CLIENTS HAD WITH THEM AND TOLD ME YOU ARE FAR FROM BEING THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EVER COMPLAINED TO US ABOUT THEM.

It was a very sad day for me on Saturday when I had to take my Chloe Foo Foo to see the vet at the ER here. Max Fund sent me right over here after assessing her. The Vet Tech greeted me and took Chloe back immediately. They were able to tell me immediately that she needed chest xrays. Soon after we found out that she had aspiration pneumonia. The doctor was very kind and gentle. He told me about the treatment and that it was not likely she would recover and it could be a long and slow painful process whether she recovered or didn’t. I had to make the hard decision to put her down. I’m so sorry Chloe! He was very gentle with me and Chloe. There was plenty of time to say goodbye and it was all very humane. My heart is broken but they did a good job with her and I appreciate their honesty. Yes tests and emergency care is expensive and yes they want to get paid so please don’t let the bad reviews concerning money deter you from this place. That’s what it costs to be a pet owner and especially in an emergency!

The most horrible horrible place to take your pet when having an emergency. They stabilized and released my dog. 24 hours later she was back at in another (really great pet ER in Englewood) ER that did all of the necessary tests and treated her before releasing her 48 hours later. Complete waste of a very large amount of money and left my dog with no treatment. Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had with a pet. Don’t go to this place! It will not save you any money and your beloved pet will not get the care he or she deserves. Horrible unfriendly rude staff. Save your pet and your money and go somewhere else where there is competence.

Our dog was attacked by another dog in our complex. I chose this place because it was closest to us. I later found out from our vet that they tend to be high priced but just a bit over other emergency vets. I have read the reviews on here and most seem to be very negative. I don’t know if this place has had management and personnel turnover or not.
That being said our experience was nothing but pleasant. I dealt with a nurse, vet and an office manager. The initial fee is $ 73.00 and the vet comes in and evaluate the situation. Then the office manger comes in with a break down of prices and what all the services will cost. Some of the reviews have been critical of asking for the money up front. Ultimately this is a business and like a peoples hospital I will pay more for emergency services than a regular visit. I don’t see what the issue is. Anyway, they kept her over night and pumped her full of antibiotics and other fluids. Without this service our dog would have been dead. We picked her up today and took her to our vet to have surgery. The emergency vet was honest with us that it would cost a lot to have surgery there. They didn’t hide anything from us and don’t feel that we were charged for unnecessary procedures.

Thanks so much to the folks at Access! My little dog got a bone stuck around his lower jaw and I called them thinking I would need to take him in tonight to get it removed. However, the person who answered the phone consulted with the vet and told us a trick that got it removed easily. Thank you guys so much! We were in such a panic and our poor puppy was scared! They helped us right away and saved us a trip to the ER! Thanks for the help! We are very grateful (and our little one is too!)

I’d give fewer than 1 star if I could. Do not use this place! They are at least 3 times as expensive as any other urgent pet care facility in the area; there are cheaper (and better) urgent-​care alternatives a short drive away. The staff are rude, and their service and attention to patient and owner are lackadaisical, at best, except when they are discussing payment and/​or additional, unnecessary testing options for inflated fees. These people don’t see pet owners and pets in distress; they see suckers and walking bank accounts. If you are unfortunate enough to use this place, know that follow-​up visits for something as quick and simple as the removal of a few stitches is NOT included in their astronomical «examination fee» they charged you during the first visit. Yes, it’s an «urgent care» pet hospital, and fees are typically more for after-​hours visits wherever you go, but these people take it to a whole new level.

First off. It pains me to see how many negative reviews there are of this place. Let’s face it… No one wants to have to take their pets to an animal ER. They’re expensive. They ask for payments/​deposits up front. I’m sure making some feel like they only care about money. In a sense, THEY DO but that’s not all. Is that really that odd? They want to know you can afford the care they provide. It’s after hours, during a holiday, after hours while during a holiday. If you can’t deal with this you need a goldfish.
We had a difficult time finding a clinic close because of the bad reviews until I noticed that pretty much every urgent pet care clinic has terrible reviews. Why? Because people go in stressed to the hilt with whatever happened to their family friend and didn’t budget the procedure. I understand it sucks. We just went through it. Our pup cut his side open very bad and needed staples and a drain tube. They explained each step, checked on him regularly while we were waiting for the more pressing surgeries to finish up, and let us wait in a room until he was fit for travel home. Yes it cost and arm and a leg. But they were courteous and I do not feel like they price gouged us.

Wouldn’t be nearly as bad if they focused less on getting paid immediately and more on the pain and suffering. Limited if any bedside manner. The worst vet clinic I have ever been to and I have been to some bad ones. Too bad, too, because they were recommended by Downtown Animal Care Center since they were overloaded, and I love those guys.

steer clear of here. i took my kitten here because he has a prolapse in his rear. the vet tech was really nice and did the initial exam efficiently, then i waited 30 min for the doctor. the doctor examined my kitten and found a lot of issues with inflared lymphnodes and a mass in his stomach (my kitten has feline leukemia). her first option was euthenization. the second option was to do blood work and an x-​ray. the third option was to open him up for a biopsy and search in the stomach for a foreign object. we asked for option 2. 30 minutes later, we got a quote for the 3^rd option from 3,000−6,000 dollars with 4,600 deposit. we declined and had the estimate revised for just the bloodwork and x-​ray. 40 minutes later, that estimate came. 40 minutes to produce numbers that were included in teh first quote. wtf? then we pay and sign for the exams. 40 minutes later, finally gets tested and everything. so total, it took about 2 hours just to get tested. where is the sense of urgency here? anyways, the results came back. they weren’t very good but the vet indicated there were many options but refused to make any recommendations. one option was to go into surgery. i finally had it and left with the results. the next day my vet quoted me the same surgery from 950‑1440 but told me surgery was not an option because my kitten had an enlarged heart. not sure how these guys missed that.
i think aacces has a friendly staff and understand that the price goes high since its an emergency but they came off as guys that didn’t know what they were doing. emergency services shouldn’t take as long as my case. solutions and recommendations need to be provided, not just circular theoretic solutions. and missing something like an enlarged heart just seems horrible.

Years ago this clinic took very good care of my sick cat through the weekend. Just today, when my old dog was failing, I went to Access. They were very helpful in assisting me to make the final decision to euthanize. The staff was kind and I was glad I used them again. As for pricing, you pay more for after-​hours clinics. Period. The exam fee I paid was actually not much more than a fee paid in certain other daytime clinics. Thank you Access.

This place absolutely sucks. Common wait times of over 1 hour, misdiagnosed symptoms and a horrible staff. Overpriced.
The compete lack of communication is almost comical.

Don’t go here. My bulldog was in excruciating pain with what appeared to be a back injury. I took a bag with all of his medications so that they would know everything he was taking. They immediately tell me I need to spend $ 500 for all sorts of tests even when I tell them what is wrong. I agreed and, of course all of the tests were fine. They did an xray and still only told me he had bad arthritis in his spine (which I already knew). After keeping me there all night, until I could call my regular vet, I found out that they never even gave him any painkillers and he had been suffering for over 5 hours! I was furious and so was my vet. When she called them, they claimed that they didn’t give him medication because they weren’t sure what medicine he was already on. They completely lied. Avoid this place like the plague.
My vet rushed me in and immediately gave him a strong painkiller and kept him the rest of the day. She had him almost fully recovered by the end of the day.

I took my puppy here about 3 months ago (just getting to write the review now) as an emergency because my puppy got bitten by a rattlesnake. We were near castle rock when she got bitten, and we googled a bunch of places and decided on ACCESS because their website mentioned «we are the affordable emergency care clinic» (I noticed that the website does not mention this anymore). We passed by a clinic in Lone Tree that mentioned that Antivenom costs $ 700 (on their website) but passed on that one because ACCESS said they were «affordable» (and $ 700 seemed like a lot of money — boy was I WAY off) — so we drove like mad-​men for 45 minutes in rush hour traffic to get to ACCESS — only to find that they charged $ 1100 for the same antivenom! By that time, my puppy had a softball on the side of her jaw and it was too late to go back to the place right next to where we were when she got bitten. We very reluctantly (and angrily) gave the go-​ahead for the care, feeling very mislead by their website.
We got the puppy back 24 hours later and to give them credit, she is just fine, and they probably saved her life (although I don’t think its too hard to give antivenom and IV’s and make sure she is ok with tests), but I feel very taken advantage by them on the cost of the antivenom and rest of the care — 24 hrs was $ 2K. At least I know that I am $ 400 poorer because of the added cost of the antivenom. They should be ashamed at themselves for taking advantage of people in dire need to save their pet just in order to make an extra buck.

So the cat that was given the death sentence here is still alive and kicking! This place really burned me up!
