EcoClean Carpet System

I took Eco Cleaning up on a Unilocal deal and while the technician that came was very nice, he seemed rushed and the end result was short-​lived and very spotty. We had a very dirty carpet. But many of the major blemishes remained and it appeared like more of a surface treatment. However I wouldn’t hesitate to try them out in a larger traditional house with more carpets that were less worn than ours.

I also bought the Groupon and have not been able to contact them. I have called and left voicemails many times over the past 2 months and have gotten zero response. Extremely unprofessional! I just want to get my money back at this point. SCAM!

Bunch of Lies !!
I bought a Groupon and the initial few calls were not answered and the VMs not replied. Finally, got to talk to Brent (owner I think), first excuse: «My system is down, cannot book an appointment now, will call you tomorrow». No call. Call again, goes to voice several times before I was able to schedule an Appointment.
A guy shows up. Looks around. Figures the Ladder he got is not tall enough. So, promises me he will be back next week, with a bigger ladder. And the owner will call me to set up the appointment.
No Show. So, I call again to talk to Voice messages. After multiple attempts, finally talk to the owner guy, tell him that I am disappointed. He tells me, his system is having some problems, so he will call me back.
And the CYCLE of Lies starts again.
Extremely unprofessional, very un-​ethical.

As far the quality of work goes, the carpets do look cleaner. The technician didn’t move any big pieces of furniture out of the way, but did move smaller things. Now for the negatives.
Slow response to inquiry and incorrect receipt. Here’s the timeline:
They cleaned our upstairs carpet on Saturday, July 28. The technician said his company would email the receipt on Monday.
I called on July 30^th to ask that when they email receipt, they include details about stain repellent they applied to the carpet.
The card was charged on August 6^th. Still no receipt or word about the stain repellent.
I called and left a message on August 10^th asking for the receipt and repellent details.
They returned the call on August 10^th and said they’d send the receipt. I reminded them about the stain repellent info and asked them to include it.
They emailed the estimate (not the receipt, which was for less since we declined upsold stain removal) on the 10^th and forgot stain repellent info.
I called again on August 14^th, but frustratedly left no message. They called back the same day and gave me the info: Maxim Fine Fabric Protector by Bridgepoint Systems. To his credit, the guy on the phone seemed nice and apologized for the slow response.
Rescheduling:
The technician had to reschedule at the last minute, moving the appointment to the following day. This was annoying because we had moved all furniture out of the way, and now we had to move it back for the evening so we could have room to walk in places like the bathroom, and then move the furniture back out of the way the next day. Not too big of a deal, but annoying.
Upsells:
When calling to schedule an appointment, the guy on the phone said, «How many rooms do you have? OK, and how many stains do you think you have?» We answered, «About 10 stains,» and that was basically the end of the conversation. When the technician shows up, he notes that stain removal is $ 10/​stain so there’s an extra $ 100 tacked onto the estimate. The guy on the phone didn’t tell us that there was an extra charge for stain removal, and we didn’t ask for any stains to be removed in the first place; we were just answering his question about stains. That’s pretty sneaky. We told the guy on site that we don’t care about stains, and that the only purpose of cleaning the carpet is to protect our baby for when he starts crawling, so please take off the stain removal, and he did. Later I looked on their website and saw, «no hidden fees for everyday stains.» Hmmm.
The technician tried to upsell me on their duct cleaning service. When the lecture was over, he went to the next room and proceeded to lecture my wife, who was busy trying to soothe our baby into a nap. Very annoying.
Use of stain repellent with potential adverse health effects:
We were upsold to buying the stain repellent for our carpet. In hindsight, we realized this is probably a bad idea since our baby will be crawling around on it. We’re disturbed that the guy on site would recommend this to us when we had previously made it clear that the reason we were having the carpet cleaned was for our baby for when he starts crawling. Maxim Fine Fabric Protector uses a perfluorinated polymer (see Material Safety Data Sheet for this product on Bridgepoint website) and Bridgepoint documents its potential health effects due to acute exposure. I could not find studies on chronic exposure, but the fact that perfluorochemicals are included in the CDC’s Fourth National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals (available on CDC website) and that some perfluorinated polymers are suspected of causing cancer and developmental problems and that the EPA and World Health Organization have a goal of phasing these chemicals out (
and WHO website) is alarming. While manufacturers of stain repellents may point out that certain perfluorinated polymers have as low as a 1-​month half-​life in people, for an infant who would be crawling on it several times a day, the 1-​month half-​life becomes irrelevant. So it seems to us like the jury is still out with respect to chronic exposure of infants to perfluorinated polymers. Because of this, we feel like the technician should have recommend a hot water extraction to remove all residual chemicals instead of laying down even more chemicals with the stain repellent. We were foolish parents for agreeing to it so we are partially to blame for not having our thinking caps on at the time we were upsold. We have since decided to remove the repellent with another cleaning.
The guys seem nice, and they did give us a fair price with a coupon (except for stairs) and our carpets do look nice now, so it’s not all bad. But overall it was a negative experience for us, hence the «Meh, I’ve experienced better» two star rating.

I discovered Eco clean through a coupon offer. Brent was very nice, and actually made two trips to take care of my floors. my tile and grout look brand new. I also had them take care of all my duct work. my home is now clean and my floors look amazing. Brent was on time, courteous, and very professional. the pricing fit nicely in my budget. I live in Pflugerville so this was a trip for him, but there were no extra charges. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants professional expert service.

I have tried multiple carpet cleaners in Austin and I am thrilled to have finally found eco cleaning
1. they arrived on time
2. the person that cleaned my carpet was polite and knowledgable
3. they did not try to upsell me. What was discussed/​ordered on the phone is what I got.
4. The prices are reasonable.
5. I have big bedrooms the person that was on site did not get out the tape measure and start quibbling over a few square feet.
6. My 15 year old carpet looks awesome!

I just had Eco Clean do my air vents because my daughter has severe asthma problems and cannot deal with the pollen in the spring. Brent cleaned my air vents and wiped down all surfaces on the vents to make sure there was no pollen particles floating around. The care and consideration that this company puts into their costumers is second to NONE. thank you eco cleaning systems!!!
