Matthew G.

Manager

Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Dr. Matt Geller pursued his goal of becoming a master of the human eye and helping people with that knowledge. He graduated from SUNY Albany University with his Bachelors of Science and Biology degree, and then moved on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree at SUNY College of Optometry.

With an extensive clinical background in vision therapy, pediatric vision care and ocular disease management, Dr. Geller uses the state of the art technology at Complete Family Vision Care to the fullest extent. Additionally, Dr. Geller is the founder of the largest website for optometry students ever created. His creation, Optom​e​tryS​tu​dents​.com is now home to nearly 20,000 monthly visitors who learn the important lessons of what it takes to be a successful student of optometry. Dr. Geller is heavily involved in the future of the profession of optometry as he is a member of political organizations like the American Optometric Association.

I brought my two year old daughter to see Dr. Geller last week due to clogged tear ducts. He was amazingly patient and was able to reassure her and talk with her while he checked out her eyes. She was calm and happy the whole time, which is pretty amazing for a toddler. Whether an adult, young person, or child needing an eye exam, I highly recommend Dr. Geller. If all doctors were as kind and professional as Dr. Geller, people would surely be less nervous about visits to the doc. Also the office staff is fantastic — very friendly and welcoming, and also quite professional in their explanation of paperwork and getting all needed info. in an efficient, courteous manner.

New to the area and I needed a new eye doctor that was on my VSP list. Dr. Geller had the best reviews here on Unilocal so I called made an appointment for that Friday. They were very kind over the phone, as were they in office. They told me about how they took pictures of the eye no need for the dilation drops! I was so happy because I hate these painful drops! Dr. Geller was so kind and treated me like a valued patient which I appreciate so much; I’ve had eye problems since I was a toddler and have been to many different offices where I was treated as just a chart number. He explained things to me in the simplest way, took very good care of my eyes and made sure he had the best prescription for my new glasses! I am so happy I came here and seen Dr. Geller, he is who I will be seeing from now on. I will definitely recommend friends and family to his office. Thank you so much Dr. Geller!

Dr. Geller is exactly what I look for in any kind of doctor really. I’ll break it down in bullets:
— friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor
— mindful and upfront about costs without me having to ask
— explains what he is looking for when interpreting images of the eye, for example, rather than simply saying, «Yeah, looks good,» or something like that
— asks if I have questions and answers them (i.e. doesn’t blow off my concerns)
— takes his time and does not rush appointments
Long story short, I will continue to see Dr. Geller for my eye care as long as I live in San Diego.

Super nice guy. How every doctor should be. He was extremely helpful and spent time talking with me. We talked about meditation, traveling and physics and by the time I left I had two new books he recommended for my reading.

My daughter and I went in for an eye exam. we were both prescribed glasses. Due to financial issues I was not able to pick up my glasses for which I owed $ 60.00. He was paid through my insurance for the visit and partial for the glasses and he still had the glasses so he was out no money.
He sent me to collections and is now on my credit report. Don’t eye Dr’s make good $$ ?? He was really stressing me over the $ 60.00. I got phone calls and letters. I finally was able to pay so I called the collection company and paid them $ 68.00 ($ 60.00+8.00 fee), but will be on my credit report for years to come! I called to get my glasses since I was paid in full and now they say they dont know where they are. I am sure it costs them more to outsource to a collection agency and send them back then $ 60.00. I work for a huge company that is close by and will make sure to NOT go there!

Friendly, knowledgeable and overall cool optometrist. I’d been looking for someone in the area since I was new to San Diego, and my co-​worker suggested Dr. Gellar. I’ve always been a geeky glasses/​monthly contacts gal, but he suggested daily contacts. I thought, «why not» and low and behold, they’re pretty awesome. My eyes feel the same, but obviously, it’s probably better for them instead of putting the same sh#*&$ in your eyes everyday! Overall, definite recommendation.

I have been seeing Dr. White at Complete Family Vision for over twenty years. He is a fantastic optometrist. This year, he welcomed Dr. Geller to his practice. When I was making my appointment for my annual exam, I figured what the heck, I will try Dr. Geller. I think Dr. White is a good judge of character. I was not disappointed in my decision to try him out. Dr. Geller is very friendly and personable. He thoroughly explains all of the test results to you and takes time to answer any questions you may have. With so many diseases and conditions that one may have dealing with your eye, I don’t quite remember everything that he told me but I do know that Dr. Geller was thorough and my eyes are healthy.
Complete Family Vision also has a new assistant/​technician, Safi. (Sorry Safi if I misspelled your name.). Safi is super friendly and very gentle in guiding you through all of the precursory tests you take before you see Dr. Geller. All of the medical equipment is top of the line. I feel confident that my eyes are in good hands. Also, the staff is welcoming. Sharon is so nice and helpful.
The location of the practice is centrally located in San Diego close to the 15 and 163. They have an extensive and excellent selection of frames that for all faces. The problem is trying to narrow it down to one.
The practice is with the times. You are able to make an appointment online or submit your new patient forms before you enter the office. Don’t worry if you are not into technology, you still are able to do all of your pre-​appointment check in by paper or schedule an appointment over the phone.
If you are looking for a new optometrist, come see Dr. Geller!

Went in today as a first time patient. I was greeted by both Dr. Geller who immediately introduced himself, as well as Ashley at the front desk. She kindly dealt with a frustrating insurance situation, which was worked out. Dr. Geller spent time with me, making sure everything was just right! He really knew what he was talking about, and I felt totally comfortable with him and how I was treated. Five stars for sure!

I feel like going to an optometrist is kind of like going in to a store to go and buy paper towels or something common — you choose one that works and never expect anything too spectacular or out of the ordinary. FINALLY, an optometry office that does not fit in to the «mediocore-​lets-​get-​this-​over-​with-​see-​ya-​in-​a-​year» expectation.
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the receptionist (whose name I believe was Ashley) who was very welcoming and processed my new patient paperwork quickly. I was about 10 minutes early, but was taken back several minutes before my appointment time to begin all of the tests. No sitting around for 20 or 30 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, wondering if you’ve been forgotten like a Furby (90’s kid, cut me some slack on the reference… does anyone remember Gak while we’re on the subject?).
This place definitely goes above and beyond when choosing the machines and technology to use on their patients’ eyes. I went through about 5 or 6 machines led by Safi and a few other tests. There was even one that tests for diabetes (which thankfully you guys, I don’t have)! Safi was great and super nice as well.
Dr. Gellar may be younger than some of the optometrists you’re used to seeing, but don’t be fooled — he is extremely knowledgeable and good at what he does. He went over all the tests results with me in detail and addressed every single one of my concerns. I didn’t feel rushed whatsoever. I actually know a thing or two about my eyes after meeting with Dr. Gellar versus previous visits with other shallnotbenamed optometry offices, when I’d leave and basically only knew I had bad (bad bad bad) vision.
Do your ojos a favor and go see Dr. Gellar!

No one has ever cared so much about my little eyes. Dr. Geller was more than outstanding! He was so attentive and caring. He went out of his way to walk me through the exam and answered to all my concerns. I’ve never in my life received such great service. Glad to have found a great doc.

My first visit with Dr. Geller was great! My dentist, which is right next door to him, actually recommended Complete Family Vision Care and it’s totally convenient because I can walk there from work!
Dr. Geller may be young but he’s a VERY knowledgeable Optometrist! They performed multiple tests with the latest and greatest technology available. Dr. Geller answered every one of my questions and reviewed each test with specific details. He wasn’t in any rush to get me out the door; he was very patient and understanding and listened to all of my concerns. After my visit was complete, I received an email from Dr. Geller himself thanking me for coming in; this shows he pays specific attention to each patient and their visit. I love the personal touch!
The office was very clean and neat, and the staff was very helpful and courteous. I will be returning to Dr. Geller for my next eye exam! I can’t wait to pick up my new glasses in two weeks.

Dr. Geller has got to be the best optometrist in town! He and his entire office staff were amazing and I highly recommend their office to anyone seeking a fantastic new optometrist!
From calling to make an appointment to picking out frames at the end of my appointment for a new pair of glasses, I have never been so impressed by the ease, convenience, and personal care received from start to finish.
I just recently had my very first appointment with them last week and I’m still talking to friends and family by how impressed I was. Dr. Geller was, by far, the most personable while professional doctor I have ever had. He took the time to get to know me a little, asked about my eye history, and took his time to answer all of my questions without ever making me feel rushed or like he had to hurry on to his next appointment, the way many doctors do nowadays. Equipped with all of the latest technology, they take the time to explain what each machine is, what it’s doing, and what they can see.
Following my appointment, I was even more impressed when I received an email from Dr. Geller. He wanted to follow up, make sure that I was able to find some frames that I liked, and to ensure that I hadn’t left the office with any unanswered questions. He even included links to some articles regarding some of the eye conditions we discussed in our appointment.
I will definitely be returning to Dr. Geller and Complete Family Vision Care for all of my optical needs! I suggest you check them out for yourselves next time you need help with your vision!

Dr. Geller is as refreshing as eye drops on a gusty Santa Ana day. He’s easy going, thorough in the examination, doesn’t rush the appointment not one minute, speaks plain English, engages your questions with logical answers, and can actually make you feel good you have less than perfect vision.
I wear both glasses and contact lens, but have been dissatisfied for over a year with my vision while wearing contacts; especially at night with my nearsightedness. He explained the possible reasons why my vision was better with glasses versus contacts, and how my slight astigmatism in one eye may be responsible for my lack of vision clarity. Out of all my corrective lens wearing years, I never even knew I had an astigmatism; simply because I was never told by an eye care professional until Dr Geller. It was an «aha» moment. He recommended two different types of contacts lens, and provided me with samples. And please note that my vision, the number associated with my prescription, had not changed in the past year.
That very night that I tried the new contact lens, it was like someone turned the light on. I was driving at night, and could see so much more in crystal clarity. Wow! I am so stinkin’ pleased. Never underestimate how the simple changes make the biggest impact. Clear vision is a good thing. Dr. Geller is a good thing as well. Make an appointment to see this man, and you won’t look back (with less than perfect vision).

I took my two children to Dr Geller recently and he was awesome! Previously, my son (10) had a very bad experience with a different office a few years ago but Dr. Geller and the office staff made him feel very safe and welcomed. I decided to take my daughter back a week later and Dr. Geller was very personable and took an extensive amount of time with us during both appointments getting to know us a little and then discussing eyes in length! I highly recommend Dr. Geller and Complete Family Vision Care for your eyecare. Mom’s they have a great coffee/​tea machine too! Sit back, relax and treat yourself and your eyes.

So I needed to set an appointment for a long overdue eye exam on top of wanting to switch from glasses to contacts. When I called in, all of my questions were thoroughly answered prior to booking the appointment, which by the way was very easy. It was very convenient that all necessary paperwork could be filled out and submitted online before the appointment date.
When I got there, I was warmly greeted and waited no more than 5 minutes to see Dr. Geller. From the get-​go he was incredibly personable and well educated. Actually, everybody in the office was incredibly personable, the entire staff was fantastic. Anyway, Dr. Geller took time for small talk yet efficiently addressed the reason for my visit. I ran into no issues with anybody during my time there and the doctor answered ALL of my questions very clearly. He even gave me his email address in case I had any other questions or concerns he could help me answer.
Now I understand that insurance and billing issues are very common when dealing with doctors, but everything went as smooth as I could have ever wanted. The costs were clearly explained beforehand and there were no hidden fees. I paid the same as any other eye doctor would charge but received service and care far above and beyond my expectations, hence the 5 stars.
With no question, I definitely recommend Dr. Geller and Complete Family Vision Care to anyone seeking eye specialists.
Also, for those looking for glasses frames, I can’t say much since new frames weren’t a reason for my visit, but they did have a huge selection.

UPDATE: If I was impressed by my experience with Mr. Geller the last time I was in the office, I have been COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY now.
I mentioned to Dr. Geller (in passing) that I took a tumble down a flight of stairs. To my amazement, not only did he remember, he sent me a get well card!!! I mean, honestly, when was the last time a doctor cared THIS much about one of his patients?
If you have the need for an optometrist, give Dr. Geller a try. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

I just moved down to San Diego and I happened to be due for my annual eye exam. I wanted an optometrist that was close to where I lived, but had a great rating. I came across Complete Family Vision Care on Unilocal when I was looking for a nearby optometrist. Other reviewers gave this place a very high rating so I decided to schedule an appointment with them. My experience was flawless with the staff and Dr. Matt Geller. I filled out all my patient information online before my appointment and I was helped immediately when I came in. Dr. Geller is a new optometrist, but knows his stuff very well. As new college graduates we had a lot to talk about during my eye exam, and he made me feel very welcomed to his practice. Overall I highly recommend Complete Family Vision care and I’m glad that Dr. Geller is my new optometrist!

This was the best Optometry office I have been to yet. The office was very beautiful and clean and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Being a shy person I immediately felt great and opened up when I walked in. Dr. Geller was very kind and friendly and did a very detailed eye exam. Unlike many doctors these days, Dr. Geller was very patient and you could tell he was actually listening to my concerns about my vision and not checking the time. We discussed each concern and he explained his findings to me in an easy to understand and assuring manner. If I wasn’t about to move up north soon I would continue to handle all my vision appointments with Dr. Geller. I will definitely recommend family and friends in search of an eye doctor to come see him!
