History

Established in 1992.

In 1992, when Mitchell A Jackson, MD opened his Lake Villa office, he had no more than a card table and a lawn

chair. Over 20 years, the practice has grown tremendously serving over 60,000 patients in our community and

employing 10. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the office is artfully designed with 1940’s movie

posters creatively infusing the word «EYE» in the titles.

The history of Dr. Jackson’s journey to become an ophthalmologist started at age 8, with his father who was blind

in one eye as a result of bacterial meningitis affecting his optic nerve. Since there was no treatment 70+ years ago,

a young Dr. Jackson was determined to find a cure to treat his father’s blindness. His passion to find new cures

for eye diseases is the reason why we host eight clinical studies that significantly contribute to the advancement of

eye research.

Business Owner

Mitchell A. Jackson, M.D., is a board-​certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School, completed his internship at Columbus Hospital and his Ophthalmology residency at University of Chicago Hospitals. Currently, Dr. Jackson is the Founder/​Medical Director of Jacksoneye and is also a clinical assistant at the University of Chicago Hospitals
