Kevin and Whitby were our wedding photographers 3 – 4 weeks ago at the Lakeview Lodge at Heavenly and words can’t express how ecstatic we were about having chosen them.
As a friend put it, they «amped up the crowd» with their presence and we couldn’t be happier with that feedback. We’ve been to weddings where the photographers seemed intrusive like annoying flies, and where photographers seemed cheesy in their directions.
However, even though I’m personally averse to getting my photo taken, we had sooo much fun getting our photos taken by Kevin and Whitby. I can’t exactly pinpoint what it is about their presence that’s so pleasant but they were so enthusiastic and energetic the whole time that it was contagious.
On the day of the wedding, there were so many forest fires around Tahoe that although it didn’t rain, the sky was very grey. We had paid for the venue on top of the mountain because of the view but on our wedding day, the lake was barely visible. Not to be discouraged, Kevin flashed us a couple of photos from that day and said the grey clouds are actually ideal for photos and the photos looked unbelievably surreal.
Words can’t express how appreciative we are of Kevin and Whitby’s talents and how honored we are that they were there to take photos of our wedding.
We can’t wait to see the rest of the photos. We have no doubt they’ll be stunning! From what Kevin showed us on his camera, the photos already looked editorial before photoshop! Now that’s talent!
You can’t go wrong with hiring them. They’re so much fun to have around that not only will you get exemplary photos with them, you’ll also have a good time with them.

There are not enough stars to give for what Matt and Tara do. Their photography is top notch. Their personality, professionalism, and creativity are also above and beyond what I expected. They photographed our engagement, and our wedding. Even months after we still have the hardest time picking our favorites. Every time I look back at our wedding day pictures, I feel the same emotions as that day. Being able to relive that day, and see things that you missed, is what they give you. For many years to come. We could not be happier with our decision to hire Theilen’s associate photographers — Kevin and Lindsey — to photograph our wedding.
We first met Kevin at our engagement session and we immediately clicked with him and had a great time trucking through the snow with him for our engagement session. He made us feel so comfortable that our photos don’t look posed or unnatural at all — they look like candid pictures of us interacting, which is exactly what we wanted. He has an incredible eye for scenery and lighting and he even crawled through snow on his belly to get the perfect shots.
On our wedding day, Kevin and Lindsey blended in seamlessly, capturing beautiful photos and being fun and so laid back in the process. I have been in a lot of weddings where the photographer is constantly in your face preventing you from acting naturally, and that was not the case at all with Kevin and Lindsey. They were always there to capture every moment, but they were never a bother. In fact, my bridesmaids and I had so much fun hanging out with them while we were getting ready. They were also so patient with us as we tried to corral an extraordinarily large bridal party and family for photos. They never once made us feel rushed or like we were bothering them when we asked for another shot. Kevin even moved each individual centerpiece for us so that they wouldn’t be in the way as we went around to take photos with each of the tables.
We received our photos ahead of schedule, both through an online low res gallery and on a flash drive with the high res photos on it. With the flash drive, Matt and Tara included beautiful prints of a few of our best pictures in a very nice gift box with a handwritten thank you note. Our photos are honestly the most amazing wedding photos that I have ever seen. We were so impressed by the way that Kevin and Lindsey used the surroundings and the lighting to create photos that didn’t just document the day but that are truly pieces of art. We have had so many people tell us how beautiful and unique our photos are.
I would recommend Theilen Photography, specifically Kevin and Lindsey, to everyone! You will actually really enjoy hanging out with them and will definitely walk away with photos that capture your day in a sweet, unique, and beautiful way.

Our wedding designer referred us to Matt and Tara, and hiring them was probably the best wedding decision we made. Not only do Matt and Tara take the most exquisite pictures, they are so down to earth and fun to work with.
First, let’s start with their photography — they are true artists — their visions are beautiful, their passion is evident — and there is NOTHING they won’t do to get a perfect shot. We got married on the beach and I am certain that Matt still has sand in his brain from the numerous times he dove (yes, dove) into the sand to capture a moment. You would also frequently see Tara standing on a chair or crouching in a position that would make any orthopedist cringe. We had no idea the beauty that would come out of the shots that they took — it was beyond our expectations.
Getting our proofs back was one of the most exciting moments, to see the beauty of what they captured come to life, in the most unexpected and stunning ways, literally takes your breath away. I have looked through them approximately 500 times already and we only got them on Friday! They created a visual representation of all the favorite memories we have from our wedding, and to have those to look back on for years to come is such a gift.
As if their unbelievable talent wasn’t enough, they are two of the most delightful, kind and fun people to work with. Seriously, they make it fun, they make it easy, and they delightfully put up with your crazy family (or at least my crazy family).
I am so thankful for Matt and Tara, would recommend them to everyone I know (and don’t know), and plan to use them again to capture other life events. Hiring Matt and Tara will be the 2^nd best decision you can make — the 1^st being choosing the right person to marry! :)

Matt and his wife Tara (TJaye) did an excellent job with our wedding photos! Matt is professional, warm, responsive, and an excellent photographer! The Theilen Photography dynamic duo took the most amazing, beautiful photos for both our engagement session and for our wedding. Matt and Tara recently shot our April 8 wedding in South Lake. Not only do they take the most amazing photos, but they are just good people. They were there for every part of our day, and went the extra mile for us, even coming early to shoot our little Easter Egg hunt for the young kids. They were present, but not intrusive, so I never felt like I missed anything. I haven’t seen all the pictures yet (I’ll update when I do), but what I have seen so far looks incredible. The photo booth was a total smash hit, make sure you use it!

It was such a pleasure working with Matt this last October in Sonoma, CA. I got a sneak peak at his work when I was sent a link to our clients engagement photos-​I was blown away by the images! He really captured the couples personalities as well as the landscapes beauty. He was a true professional from the first email correspondence, through the day of their wedding.
