About Us
John Dunlop, a native Australian who once owned a shoe repair shop just down Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House, figured the recession was a perfect time to build a business in Oregon.
Back in Washington, D.C., during the 1980s and 1990s, Dunlop’s clientele included powerful politicians and famous performers. He was the cobbler of choice for the National Theater, Ford’s Theater and Kennedy Center costume departments.
At Lake Grove Shoe Repair, his customers come from all walks of life. While he gets residents of some of the region’s wealthiest neighborhoods, he also sees environmentally conscious clients focused on reusing their possessions and, of course, penny-pinching customers just trying to make their shoes, boots, luggage and purses last until the economy rebounds.
When he opened Lake Grove Shoe Repair at 16 144 Boones Ferry Road, his shop immediately found clients.
