Crowne Plaza Portland-Lake Oswego

The hotel undergoing major renovation. The room is nice, quite and also the construction doesn’t really bother me. I can’t wait for it to be done and see the whole lobby. I stayed here once and this second stay is a lot better since everything is not old anymore

Being remodeled. We brought all our children, and chose this hotel for the pool to swim in, but it was closed due to renovation.

The hotel is being remodeled. We were in a remodeled room. I love the walk-​in shower but there is no microwave, so no popcorn with HBO.

Lousy… period! Spend the night and pay the inflated price with ongoing construction. First time stay here and no continental breakfast was offered. Instead, I was seated and given a pay for menu. So, needless to say I won’t be staying at this chain EVER again. Totally unbelievable??? One star because 0 stars aren’t available.

Our worst time here ever!!!
We have been coming to this motel (doesn’t deserve title of hotel) for 15 years. Same time every year– thanksgiving weekend and sometimes during the summer– that’s how much we use to enjoy the place. Not anymore! Ever since under new ownership, this place has gone downhill and quick. All of the great staff prior to new ownership are gone. Dennis who bartended for 20 years there is gone.
The place is dirty and service awful. The place was packed with boys youth hockey teams who were unruly throughout the motel. They played practice hockey on every floor, played on the elevators, sabotaged the pool and jacuzzi so that no one could or would want to use it.
The topper of this visit was charges us more than what was sent in my confirmation email. Also charging me a no show fee for checking in after 10 pm– even though I called several times to let them know our flight wouldn’t get in until after midnight.
But the topper was charging us for a room that I wasn’t told about.
I requested an upgrade from a king to an executive suite, but when we checked in the young man said it wasn’t available — no biggie. However when we checked out we were charged the extra price for the executive room. When speaking with NICOLE, who said her title was front desk manager (no people skills), she acknowledged that I was in a regular kind room– however being on the 6^th floor is what made it an executive suite! I was appalled at that! Especially when I was told I didn’t get a suite– and from all the bs noise going on our floor.
As I said, been coming here for years, but never again!
Rude employees, bad service, old and out-​dated and sneaky charges.
Don’t come here. There are many hotels to choose from in this area.

Overpriced, not clean. The corners were full of dust, the light in the entry didn’t work, the blanket was ripped, the drain screen was broken and floated around in the tub, the heater/​AC didn’t work, the carpet in the elevator looks like a remnant from a bar. GOOD THINGS: quiet and beds were comfortable. Easy access to I5 and a short walk to decent restaurants. Time to clean this place up and do some basic maintenance and updating! I feel bad for the employees who work here because they deserve a better product to represent.

All I really need at a hotel are a nice bed, soft towels, and good pressure on shower head. This one had all of that plus nice toiletries. Location was great, right next to the highway and walking distance to restaurants. It is a little dated but my room was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again. Only issue I have with this hotel is that the air conditioning fan is right next to the work desk. So, if you need to work, you have cold air constantly blowing at you. Either that or turning the air off and being hot. That was the only downer.

When I read the reviews before checking in, I was worried, but our room was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and the check-​in staff were really professional and kind. I’m impressed, too, that the manager has taken the time to respond to Unilocal reviews. Nice job!

I have to say, this is one of the most disgusting, dirty hotels I have ever visited. If I could give it no stars, I would. The staff was abrasive, the room was filthy, some serious updates need to happen to this hotel. I got two rooms at $ 250 each. RIP OFF! We are local to Portland and we’re just looking to escape our home for one night because we are doing some home improvements and this morning was duct cleaning. I tried every other local hotel around us and this was the only one that had available rooms. Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder why? I will be posting some pictures of hair on the floor and the poor maintenance of the room. When everyone in your family is a blonde and there are black hairs on your floor, it’s VERY disgusting! I was not comfortable sleeping here because it was so dirty. Will never be back!

We really thought our room was going to be very moldy or very dirty like most of the reviews that I read on here, but surprisingly the room was clean except the chair that had weird funky white stains and no it didn’t look like white paint. My boyfriend was so shocked about it, he was taking tons of pictures and showing it to his other friends last night of how ridiculous dirty the chair was. The chair didn’t ruin the night for us though because we were only staying here for night. I think our room looked the cleanest because my boyfriend read that this room is supposed to cost $ 399? We didn’t pay that much, we had to stay the night here because Marriott hotel had issues with overbooking so we had to drive 20 minutes past midnight when we were all so tired…
My only complaint was that even though we didn’t pay the $ 399, but knowing that the light wasn’t turning on at the entrance of our room and outside of the bathroom.
We were also staying at room #508 right in front of the elevator, the elevator didn’t bother me at all, but I was forced to wake up with the sound of Hispanic cleaners chitchatting or arguing about something and their speech sounded like a machine gun. It was really annoying and ticked the f**ck out of me. I just wanted to scream at them and tell them you came to work, not rant in the morning when you’re really close to the rooms that people are sleeping!!! –_​_​–
I read reviews before we came here that the walls are thin, so I was already aware of that, but come on these are hotel cleaners!!! Be a professional and shut up!!! Don’t wake the whole entire people! I couldn’t sleep well because as a pregnant lady, it takes awhile to fall asleep and since I never slept here before, I was trying to get used to the bed and end up sleeping at 4am. To the pregnant ladies, the bed is okay except bring your own pillows. Good thing I brought my own.
I’m so upset because I wanted to sleep as much as I can, but I end up sleeping for only 4 hours. I’m about to cry right now. I was really going to get out of our room if they rant one more time and tell them SHUT THE FCK UP ALREADY!!! These Hispanic cleaners really ruined my morning, I’m not coming back here anymore.
I forgot to add that the Hispanic cleaners were arguing about something really loud for like 15 minutes straight at around 8:15am in the morning!!! @_$%$@!!(!))
To add to this, something positive to end the review, the room service for breakfast was nice. I ordered the all American breakfast and I loved their hash brown and the chicken apple sausage was delicious, although it was $ 16.95…

Yes I agree this hotel is very out dated. Needs full over haul. If you like living in the 80’s its for you. It wasn’t not what I was expecting for being a part of the holiday inn chain. Has a musty smell. I will extend my review after my full stay.

Lake Oswego is one of our favorite places to stay while traveling to Portland. It’s cheaper, parking is generally a non-​issue, and it’s a mere 10 – 15 minutes to get into the city. We’ve stayed at the Crowne Plaza a couple times now, always booking via Hotwire or Priceline. The location of this hotel makes getting on and off the freeway a breeze. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and spacious. We’d happily stay here again!

Meh — the hotel is old and out of date — a bit musty when you get to your room. It has a center atrium which is nice — and a good hot buffet breakfast (it was free for me with my work stay) as well. I think if you don’t have free tickets for it, it’s like $ 10 which is VERY PRICEY — but mine was free so no complaints. The hotel was comfortable enough — its right off the freeway so its easy to get to — if you are staying for a few days — the closest grocery store is a few miles away — but there are a a few eating options close (a Stanfords in the parking lot, an applebees walking distance down the street, and a chipotle and starbucks not too far walk up the street as well). I was looking to buy some bottled water, and had to find a gas station to do so.
Would I stay at this hotel again? Only if it was paid for, I would not pay to stay here, I think there are probably nicer and more up to date hotels that cost about the same. It is quite a bit outside of Portland City Center — it took me about an hour on a Thursday afternoon (2PM) to get to the airport from this location.

The first night I was there, another guest walked into my room while I was sleeping. Apparently there was a mix up with their check-​in.
I stayed there for two weeks on a business trip and several of the other people on our trip encountered issues. One of the people had to be switched to a different room because of late night construction. Another asked to be switched because of a loud vent outside of her room and the guy at the front desk told her there was nothing he could do and didn’t apologize or make any effort to help her. I also tried to charge dinner to my room and was told there was no one assigned to that room.
The first night of the second week I stayed, I crawled into bed and noticed hair in the sheets. Head hair, «body» hair, and what looked like animal hair. I guess housekeeping had left for the day, so a very nice gentleman came to change my sheets, but he struggled. I left the room while he changed my sheets, and he put a flat sheet as the base sheet (which would normally be fine), but the sheet kept coming up during the night because the bed wasn’t made properly. He also put the other flat sheet in between the blankets, so that the rough blanket was close to the body. I decided to shower, and was disappointed by a weak flow of water due to the faucet leaking a hefty amount of water.
In addition, the place is incredibly outdated. The Crowne Plaza in Lake Oswego needs an overhaul both cosmetically and functionally. Their front desk people could use some additional training in customer service as well.

Great alternative to the other hotels in area.
I am pretty sure the low ratings are from people who don’t travel a lot.

I think some of the lower reviews are a little off base. I have stayed here multiple times over the last 20 years. The property is approximately in the same condition over the 20 years which means they have maintained it well. The rooms are comfortable. The staff is limited but capable and polite. It is very well located relative to the freeways, downtown, the zoo or the airport. All are within a 20 to 30 minute drive. It is also very hard to find a hotel in Portland with an indoor pool which this property has. I think 3.5 stars is right but three stars misrepresents the property as it places it on the same level as an entirely different class of hotel.
I like it and think you will too.

Solid 3.5 stars, a rental car much needed as it’s located near a business park area, and conveniently located near I-​5. Almost would say it’s a burb area with the huge amounts of greenery everywhere, even in the free parking lot, so it’s quite safe, feels nice and clean air.
Hotel’s pretty basic, at least for the standard one. my room situated between a presidential suite and another one lol… did find the walls a bit thin, could hear their cell phone ring!
pet friendly too.
nice they included free wifi but their business center on ground level is so slow, believe the internet feels like a dial up.
Love the lobby atrium, a view from the glass elevators. When it’s raining, nice to be able to pull up right to the doors, you’ll be dry.
the restaurant was pretty cool with filling my thermos with hot water each morning.

Room was quite spacious, same for the bathroom; big counter space. Somewhat updated in terms of bedding, but old-​style otherwise. Lots of space to work, and a corner section for a work table.
In terms of walking around restaurants, quite convenient to Olive Garden and just a 5-​min drive to Trader joe’s.
Worth returning for $ 120/​night as long as you don’t have any 4-​star expectations.

Be very careful staying at this hotel. When my husband stayed there, he was charged a $ 250 fee for smoking in his room. He is a smoker but a very considerate one. He has never smoked in our home because of me and our children. After smoking outside this hotel, he put the butts in the trash can in the room so the maid asummed he smoked in the room. Smokers beware!!!

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for one night before heading out to wine country. It’s located just off the highway so it’s easily accessible and in a decent location. Not a lot to walk to in the immediate vicinity, more in a business park part of town.
Rooms are solid, not too fancy but got the job done for the one night we were there. One of the bigger downfalls was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The floors and showers seemed to have staining and dirt on them.
Overall, it’s a fine place to stay but I wouldn’t expect to anything above and beyond a three star experience.
