Great authentic hole in the wall place! Very friendly and personable. The food was excellent and the experience was fun. I’ll be back!

Great food, but really bad service. The guy there tried to present himself better than us and came off a bit of a jerk. Maybe it’s a Portland thing. Anyway, great food though. The smoked chicken tacos are the way to go!

Good god a mighty their smoked chicken burrito is amazing. New to the area and have been checking out Unilocal reviews and was craving a burrito today. Saw this lil’ place not too far from work. Great reviews and lots of compliments on their portions and the taste of their product, so I went in. Upon arrival, to get in, you need to walk by their smoker which overwhelms, in a good way, the smell of smoked chicken. I knew I was already hooked upon the smell. Inside, a few quant tables occupied the small space. The seating area and kitchen are about a regular living room, so it is a tight squeeze. There’s about 5 employees hustling around the kitchen, taking orders and cleaning up tables. The space was very clean and well kept. Decorative photos of Coasta Rica were fun to glance at after I placed my to go order. I opted for the smoked chicken burrito. Comes with rice, tomatoes, onions, beans, meat and sour cream /cheese if you wanted it. I went with a little sour cream, no cheese. After tearing it open, saw it came with a red and green«salsa”/“sauce». I took the first bite and BOOMGOESTHEDYNOMITE flavor. So delicious!!! Everything was tender, moist and flavorful. The smoke flavor was a perfect compliment to the chicken. The red salsa, was not spicy, nice compliment. Hello… who are you green sauce and then wham, bam, thank you casa del pollo for this. What is this stuff? Basically, it is green money sauce… it is so good with this burrito. But seriously, what is in it because I want to shower in it. Everyone was very friendly and wished me a Merry Christmas… thanks for not being PC with the Happy Holiday stuff. $ 9.50 is a little high on the price, but it is worth it. It will fill you up and it is quality as well. I will look forward to making this a regular place and trying many other options for lunch.

I’ve been here once and had the smoked chicken tacos platter. The portions are huge and the price is fair for the large amount of high quality food you get. Cheese is extra which is something I haven’t seen before but they don’t skimp on the amount they give for the extra $ 0.50. The service was friendly and the smoked chicken was extremely good. It seems to be the item to get, regardless of what you put it in. There is very little seating available since it is a very small building so I’m not sure if this is a good place to come during a busy lunch hour but we will be back. 5 stars.

Go here, I mean it!!! We got the family meal that came with a full chicken(delicious!!!), beans, pico, rice, and corn tortillas. It was a perfect meal for four and we have a good portion of leftovers to take home. The owner is incredible. We brought my nephew with us who is two and he brought toys to the table for him to play with. He also turned on a kids tv show for him to watch as we finished up. Overall, it was an amazing deal($ 34 to feed four) and amazing food. Also, you cannot beat the service. I cannot say enough great things about this place. It is a must go!

We visited Costa Rica about 3 years ago, so we were so excited to find a Costa Rican restaurant in our area. The place is super tiny, it’s a borderline shack. There are maybe 6 tables so be prepared to take your food to-go, just in case you can’t land a table. The family that runs the place is super sweet. We were immediately seated and they even gave our little one a book to keep her entertained. Our food came out pretty quickly and the portions were large. I had the Gallo Pinto and it was fantastic. The beans and rice were perfect and the 2 fried eggs were gobbled up by our little one. My husband had some smoked chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was a little dry in places, but had great flavor. The beans and rice were fantastic and there were some pickled carrots on the side that I kept stealing. The food was really delicious and authentic. We will definitely be back soon to grab more deliciousness. I noticed a lot of people ordering burritos, so I think I will give that a try next time. I’m also sad I didn’t get the ceviche, so that will have to happen next time as well. Definitely a hole in the wall with solid Costa Rican food and really great service.

Atmosphere: Rustic. Authentic. Could easily imagine this restaurant being in Costa Rica rather than Lake Oswego. Staff: Friendly. Inviting. Felt like they were happy that we were there. The owner came over to our table, introduced himself and asked about our family. Food: Excellent. My son’s burrito nearly exploded, it was so big. My Arroz con Pollo was flavorful but not overpowering. My wife’s grilled chicken was moist with a delightful taste. Overall: First rate. For not much more than Chipotle, you can’t do much better than this. For me, it belongs on the short list of places that you go back to at the last minute for reliably delicious food at a reasonable price

Nice boss, excellent food. BBQ chick just good and not over cooked, smells really good and juicy. The other plate I tried is a mixture of tender pork, vege and rice in a bowl with chips as liner. The pork is so tender and tastes really good. We had long talk with the boss after finish the dinner there. This is really a nice family style place and definitely highly recommended.

Like most people who have been to Costa Rica, I fell in love. The people, the Caribbean, the cloud forest, the pura vida! And every day, pura vida started off right with gallo pinto, tortillas and some cheese. Gallo pinto isn’t complex, but somehow it tastes like heaven. Probably because you’re surrounded by sloths and tiny gem like frogs and the nicest people. Casa del Pollo brings you right back there. The family who runs this place is straight Tico. It was like eating at my friend’s house at Playa Bandera. Just talking about life, the world, being warm and feeling like you were in good company with a nice, big helping of the national dish, gallo pinto. This is a place to get a slice of Tico life right in Portland. Who knew? What a lucky find! The sauces are delicious and the rice and beans as warm and hearty as the company. They smoke their chicken in their smoker outside and it smells divine when you walk up. As cozy and welcoming as Costa Rica itself! Pura vida!

Really delicious food, friendly service. My 8 year old had a steak quesadilla and said said it was the best he ever had. Really cheesy and had big chunks of tasty steak. I had the ceviche(Fri and Sat only). Fresh tasting and a great lighter option. We will definitely be back!

Initially I was quite a big fan of their burritos. Now I am finding them heavy on fillers. Potatoes in the breakfast burritos, beans in the smoked pork. Prices are a bit high. The smoked products are great, but they are chincy on the quantity of meat. I’m not a fan of their red sauce or their green, both of which I find too oily. So this place has gone from a 4.5 to a 3 star for me. Size of the burritos and service are both good.

I have nothing but good things to say about Casa del Pollo. The owner is wonderful and the food is just as wonderful. I ordered the ½ Chicken Casado and a side of chips w/gaucamole. The chicken was incredibly moist and well seasoned. Included were two types of sauces … one greenish and similar to tabouli in taste and the other red/orange similar to mole. Both were great, although the chicken admittedly didn’t need any saucing up. The rice and beans that accompanied the chicken were excellent as well.(Ususally when I order a burrito, I refuse to get chicken. Most places can’t cook chicken right and end up with really dry meat that can only be saved by a healthy dousing of salsa. I am definitely going to try one of Casa del Pollo’s chicken burritos soon!) Oh yeah, and the gaucamole was one of the best I’ve had. I will be back.

This place is fantastic! It’s one of those hidden gems within Lake Oswego. I’ve lived in Costa Rica for two years and received a good sense of authentic Tico food. This place is legitimate. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was the best part! I had the Steak Burrito and loved it. Enjoy! To the owners, nos vemos pronto! Pura Vida Ticos!

You will perhaps think spring break has made me easy, giving five stars on the first date at Casa del Pollo, but I don’t think I’ll change my mind as I plan to frequent this place now that I know how good the food is. This is the restaurant I wanted to try when my family ended up at the dreadful California Pizza Kitchen. Now I regret that fateful night even more because I just ate the best smoked chicken tacos that I’ve ever eaten. Granted, it’s been a day of painting, gardening, and bark dusting, so I certainly worked up an appetite. But take a moment to drool over those photos of smoked chicken to see why this place could be an easy five stars. Go ahead. I’ll wait. See? The taste trumps the photos – this chicken is moist and boasts a natural smoked taste, not too salty, not over done. There’s no beer or wine, and the space is tiny with maybe six tables inside. When a small group came in after me, someone asked, «Is this a good time? Are you closing?» The owner answered with a smile, «It’s a great time; when it’s crowded, it’s not so great.» That might be true, but I happen to know it’d be worth the wait – just the salsas are worth the wait. Thanks, Unilocal!I’ve driven passed this place so many times, not even noticing it. I would have never tried it without your support and those photos.

It’s a quaint, unassuming place in Lake Oswego. You won’t miss it because it looks like a little, red house tucked at the corner. You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu, but I highly recommend their smoked chicken — so flavorful and juicy(can be a little greasy too). It’s perfect as a late breakfast place because coming here is like having brunch that hits the spot! They serve Costa Rican coffee(I wasn’t crazy about it but it’s somewhat okay) and their specialty chicken are perfectly proportioned with their rice and veggie sides. Service is excellent. Prices are reasonable. The only downside is that since this place is so tiny, seating capacity is limited. I recommend coming early! However, you may need to wait until the smoked chicked is ready to be served since they make them fresh daily. Overall, it’s an okay place. Not fine dining, not fastfood. But great enough to satisfy your chicken cravings.

I’ve been here three times. Twice the smoked chicken was super flavorful and perfectly cooked. Last time I came here the chicken was flavorless and horribly overcooked. Really nice owners. Kind of a crappy location. Wish they were more consistent!
