Stopped in here since most of the restaurants were busy with Valentine’s Day diners. While this place may not look like much from the outside(or inside), I really, really liked the staff here. If you see some of my comments on restaurants in the area, this is an issue I’ve found in a few places. This place was also family friendly, which I also appreciated. Ordered the wings and half rack of ribs. Buffalo wings was what i expected and enjoyed the ribs, though I found the meat to be a little gamey. I enjoyed it, but that wasn’t shared by the other family members. They also serve pizza, which I found a little too thick for my taste, but the kids loved it. I enjoyed the $ 2.50 beers, which made all things good.

Delish fun pub meal with husband and son. They enjoyed craft beers, calamari, burger and chicken tenders. I went with salad bar and boneless wings. Super-nice service, low prices(for us city folk). We’ll be back on our next trip to Gore or Lake George.

This restaurant USED to be our go-to place when visiting Lake George. It’s away from the tourist hight price mediocre food restaurants. Ambiance in this place has always been a local bar and grill feeling, but the menu was fantastic. Not anymore. After being quickly seated, we were handed a one page menu, with the usual offerings of burgers, wings, quesadillas, and hot and cold sandwiches. The only out-of-the-box offering was the ahi tuna. When the waitress returned, I asked her if there was another menu, the one I remember from my last visit was a few pages, and many eclectic offerings along with the usual pub fare. She said they did away with that menu a while ago. I was totally disappointed. Their old menu was phenomenal, this one was meh. After ordering a medium rare burger, and my two companions ordered the steak sandwich, we got our watered down iced teas. Again, meh. Burger came, and let me tell you, it was dry as dust. It did have a beefy flavor, but no juices whatsoever. It was pink in the middle, and I guess it could have been considered medium rare. Companions enjoyed their steak sandwich, no complaints. Waitress was not very friendly, never refilled our drinks, checked on us As soon as someone brought our food. Ten came back in time to give us our check. She said she’s been working there a little over a year, I guess customer service isn’t her thing, even after being there a year. I guess the reason for my 2 star review is that I was totally bummed about the menu change, and a uninterested waitress. Now gotta find a new favorite!

I would come here for the bar and some eats, but as a family lunch spot I can’t give more then 2 stars. We came for lunch on a Monday and were the only ones there. The mac and cheese was runny like soup. Boneless chicken wings were, chopped up chicken tenders. Service was just OK.

Went here way back, thought it was a safe bet after getting into town from NJ around 6. Looks like a local roadside dive on the outside and inside. Started with the beer, a local Bear Naked Ale, which was cold. Group of 5 got Mac and cheese, boneless wings, BLT, hot turkey and chicken parmesan. They brought a burger instead of Turkey but that was excellent. The wings had maple siracha sauce which also was excellent. All in all, solid food for everyone.

The food was bar food. The server tricked is into ordering french fries and charging extra. Will not be going back.

My wife and I finally stopped here for dinner after driving by for many years saying we should give this place a try. I ordered chicken parm and my wife got the fettuccine alfredo. Both were large portions but the prices were also above average. The chicken parm was decent but pounded a little thinner than I like and slightly overcooked. The sauce was jar like and certainly not fresh. The fettuccine I had with it was very good. The beer selection was pretty good with a few great local brews on tap. While we were in the narrow dining area, the bar had some live«entertainment». I actually thought it was karaōke, or at best open mic night, the quality was so poor, but when we were leaving we saw it was a «band». They were either stoned or just really bad… or both and the only ones clapping after their songs and long winded monologues appeared to be drunk locals that had been hanging out at the bar too long. So overall, given the proper motivation, we’d give it another try but I’d check their schedule for entertainment first.

Found this place on Unilocal while visiting lake George and three words-BBQ boneless wings! They were the best I’ve ever had! And the main entrée was just as amazing-really good service as well as great prices! I’ll be thinking about these wings forever lol

I was in the Lake George area for New Year’s and to say that it was deserted would be an understatement. Not many places to visit and not many restaurants were open in the downtown area(though, I guess that is to be expected from a summer vacation town). Trying to find a place to sit and eat for New Year’s Eve was quite a task, either restaurants were closed or they were fully booked and wouldn’t seat us. Luckily we drove past the Blue Moose Tavern and it looked perfect for what we wanted… food and drinks. Like everyone has said before me, it is a local joint, but we loved that! The atmosphere was nice and we sat at the bar. The bartenders were super friendly and attentive. We decided on the hot buffalo wings, a burger, and a hot open faced turkey sandwich. We were considering the salad bar, but when we walked by, it looked rather bleak so we passed. The wings were good, not spicy enough, but they were tasty nonetheless. My husband said his burger was a little dry and lacked a good flavor. My open faced turkey sandwich was pretty good though. The turkey was a nice cut, the gravy was plentiful, and the cranberry sauce was good enough. I substituted in the sweet potato fries and that certainly was a good choice, they were crisp and delicious. I was a bit disappointed that they used just regular old white bread to pile the turkey on, but I still finished every bite. We left before the karaōke began, but we had a nice meal and drinks at the Blue Moose Tavern. Thanks for being open and accommodating on New Years!

Went to the Blue Moose with a party of 14, including several kids, on New Years Eve. Although our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, the staff was able to get us all seated at other tables. Service was quick and attentive. The free salad bar was a nice touch, but the pickings were slim. Entrees were excellent, both in quality and portion size. Owner was very engaging and attentive to our party. Very pleasant dining experience

Always liked this place. It’s a local joint and a great non-touristy spot in a tourist area hellhole. Wings are good.

Very disappointed with new owner. Menu isn’t as good. Service was terrible. More like a bar that serves food than a restaurant that has a bar. I used to love this place but I wont go there again.

First review on Unilocal(I had to sign up after eating at this establishment). I had reservations with family members for a «nice dinner’ at this place at 7PM on a recent Saturday night. From the outside, I was immediately taken aback as honestly it looks like a bar. So with the bar and parking lot packed, I had some trepidation about the noise, etc. But my worries were immediately laid to rest. We were seated far away from the noise(though I actually like a little noise/flavor at a restaurant) and the ambiance was a respectable 3⁄5. The waiter was very attentive for a table of 8; he knew all the dishes well, our wine and water were never empty, and he constantly inquired about our food/needs(5⁄5). Was very impressed by the wine menu. The food, however, is the reason I gave this 5 stars(7⁄5 makes up for the 3⁄5 ambiance). As others have mentioned you can order standard pub fare — and I’m sure it’s good — we, however, were treated to food that I’d expect in my local Manhattan restaurants. The menu was just the right size(restaurants with a multitude of entrees typically fall flat as they don’t have a manageable and focused number of specialties). I don’t remember all the formal names of the dishes(as I was enjoying eating them and drinking wine) [PICTURESWILLFOLLOW] but order the pork belly shooters and spiced tuna appetizers(they’re phenomenal; the quality, texture, and taste of both were exquisite). We also ordered a reuben casserole dip, which was full of taste and a larger portion than expected. The fresh calamari was also excellent — and was enough to pass around the table of 8 and more. I ordered the scallops and my girlfriend ordered the Coq Au Vin — they were both excellent. My father ordered the Pork Roulade, and he ate it in it’s entirety and raved about how perfectly it was cooked(my dad’s a taciturn man, and normally doesn’t do this). My sister had the macaroni and cheese which was also flavored phenomenally and infused with bacon and some vegetables(it’s smaller than a dish you may order at like a diner or something, but the flavor and quality of the cheese more than make up for it both in satisfaction and taste). My mother ordered the Haddock en Papillote(pictures follow) and it was excellent. My sister-in-law ordered the Herb Crusted Chicken Breast and thoroughly enjoyed it. My brother-in-law ordered the Coq Au Vin as well and was impressed by both the entrée and the potato scallop side(it wasn’t traditional scalloped potatoes). Again, totally taken aback by the menu at this place, and this food was phenomenal. Salads came with all entrees. For a table of 8 with approx. 8 entrees and 7 apps(again salad with all) and lots of wine and other drinks we left very full, stunned by the superb quality and presentation of the food, and simply happy. It was also quite affordable. You can’t ask for more from a restaurant. Awesome place, will go back.

My wife and I went here 5 or 6 yesrs ago because they had outside seating. We didn’t go back. Within the last year or two, we have noticed a lot of advertising in regards to new owners and food specials. We were excited about finally getting to go there. It was a Saturday night at 7 o’clock. First impression, Jimi Hendrix blaring thru the speakers. Second, the menu is a hard menu to find something healthy on. The server was very nice and took our drink and sandwich order immediately. My wife ordered the turkey club and I ordered a cheeseburger. After waiting a half hour we asked her to please check on our food. It came out shortly afterwards. The food was okay. It is a bar that serves food as opposed to a restaurant that serves alcohol. Since we don’t drink alcohol we will not be going back.

Took forever for food to arrive — and the place had several empty tables so it’s not like they were busy. I had pulled pork sliders with some sort of fried onions on top. The onions were cold and hard so I tossed them to the side. Everything else was just ok. One good point: good locally brewed root beer.

Stopped in for lunch last weekend with my wife and mother in law as we were in the area and hungry. Tourist season hasnt really ramped up yet, so a lot of lunch spots were closed for the season. After trekking around a bit, we ended up at the Blue Moose. It was not a good experience. First off, theres a sign at the door telling you to wait to be seated. In fact, this sign is at both doors(front and the deck at the back). We stood there for close to 10 minutes before a server yelled across the bar to just seat ourselves. Not a good start. We ordered 3 sandwiches in normal time, but were waiting and waiting. Constant affirmations from the waitress that our food was on its way were met with a complete lack of food. More of this, and more of this occurred. It wasnt until a couple seated at least 30 minutes after us received their meals that we realized our order probably wasnt put in. We noted this to the waittress, and(to her credit) apologetically enough she told us the food would definitely be right out. The definition of «right out» in Lake George apparently means 15 minutes. Now for the food. I guess it was good enough. My turkey reuben was hot and good, nothing special. My MIL’s said that her pulled pork sliders were great and the fries were crispy and hot. My wife ordered a Turkey club, and the sandwich came out with turkey, lettuce, and bread. No cheese as mentioned, and no bacon at all. We told the waittress they forgot the bacon but to forget it since we had already been waiting for more than an hour at this point. Again, wifey said the fries were hot and good. But, this generally happens when they forget to make your food and have to make it fresh. When the bill came, the waittress said she took 50 percent off the bill for our wait. Quickly doing the math, despite the 50 percent off claim on the ticket, only about 20 percent came off. I guess the math is suspect too. Now, we werent looking to be comped, nor did we ask for it. But if you say you took 50 percent off a bill, then do it. Just would like to add that this poor review, in my opinion, is probably more based off of our personal experience rather than an overall trend. As I said, the food was good, other than the lack of bacon on the club, but based on the service that day, we wont be back.

Everything a roadside bar should be. We got there at 11:27AM– they opened at 11:30. As my friends and I cheers’ed our first beer of the day, Steve belted out«it’s noon somewhere.» It was noon at the Blue Moose and the beers were a’flowin and the grills were a’grillin. I ordered the«famous» cheese steak sandwich– it was awesome. It was an actual steak. Not steam-umms or sliced up and robbed of its flavor– a full on steak smothered were cheese, onions, mushrooms and peppers. The bun was nothing special, but it is a roadside bar. I think it was $ 12.95 and worth it; a great value. The beer bottle list is expansive, the drafts somewhat limited, but I couldn’t work my way past the $ 2.00PBR special served in a solo-cup. For a bar so unassuming they take their business seriously and deliver on great food and experience.
