Safe N Secure

This guys installed my Wayne Dalton I-​drive originally so I felt they should know how to repair it. Called them up and asked for the estimate, of course they would not give it to me, no matter how well I described the problem. $ 25 service charge seems to be ok, so I told them to schedule appt. Just like the most (or all) of them no certain time for appointment, just morning till 2pm or something like that — fine. Guy comes over (Tony) listens to what I have to say to describe the problem and rite away says «your springs inside the tube are broken» I am asking how do you know and how much is to find out. $ 90 — sounds steep for me, plus to pay for the springs «I don’t think so». I had to cut the tangled cables when my door got stuck, so that the only thing I wanted to replace. He insisted that would not fix the problem and I will still have non-​functioning door. I decided to bite the bullet pay him for installing the cables and send him on his way. He was really pissed that I told him what to do, but hey I am the customer (the one that suppose to be always right) and I pay him the money, so «Buddy do what I say». He installed the cables, I paid him and he left. Since I was not up to the task of dealing with the door in the evening I tried it the next morning. After I pressed the «center» (inside the control unit) button and the door went through the learning cycle it works just fine. That is with the «broken spring» ha? BTW, when he was leaving I asked him if he adjusted the tension to the same setting that is was set originally, he said «yes precisely to the same number». Now, how is it possible to adjusted the tension on the broken spring ha? Once I heard that I was not too worry that it should work fine. I gave these guys 2 stars only because they actually knew how to replace the cables :). BTW, the whole reason for lying to me about the spring was because he was trying really hard on selling me a new opener with new springs etc. I even overheard his foreman or whoever was on the other end of the line asking «So did he (apparently me) agreed to replace? I wouldn’t trust these guys if I were you. They also operate under «Besser Bros» name so just be aware and watch out.
