Lindsey, Melanie, and Jessie made our first birth an incredible experience. We felt so comfortable in their knowledgable hands as they let labor progress at its own pace, providing calm and encouragement to me and my husband. This was exactly the birth experience we wanted.
Pre and post natal care has been easy, noninvasive and fun, like going to chat with a good friend! Lindsey and team care deeply for their clients and their profession, offering reassurance, information, and encouragement and checking in regularly with mom and baby in between appointments.
For any low risk pregnant mamas interested in an empowering birth experience, Lindsey is the midwife to call.

I don’t know where to begin other than to say that Lindsey is amazing! I always knew I wanted to have an unmedicated pregnancy and birth but I never thought about having it at home. That is until I met with Lindsey for a consultation and I knew within a couple minutes that I wanted her to be my midwife and that I would be doing it at home! She is incredibly caring, supportive and knowledgable and she will definitely be my midwife for all my future pregnancies!

Wow… coming up on 6 months since my home birth with Lindsey and Melanie! Can’t believe I never posted a review! There are no words to describe the care from prenatal to birth to postnatal. Even to this day I feel welcome to stop in and say hi to the wonderful women at OC Midwifery!
After one c-​section, a hospital VBAC (which my OB was convinced would not happen), I finally found Lindsey! She gave me an experience I never imagined and would never have it any other way again. Her emotional connection to each one of her clients is beyond words. Even my husband was against a home birth from the beginning, but he trusted in me and supported my decision. If you ask him now, he can’t believe we didn’t do it with our other children! He thought Lindsey and Melanie did an excellent job! See?! Always trust the wife ;)

Very grateful for and impressed by Lindsey. I was unable to get into my midwifery group for a checkup — after finding Lindsey through Unilocal I reached out. She squeezed me into her schedule (over the weekend!), which meant a lot because I am not an existing patient. She has been responsive, friendly, warm, knowledgable and incredibly passionate about giving the highest level of care. Her office is inside of «Backs, Babies, and Bellies,» which is a one-​stop shoppe when it comes to anything pregnancy + baby related. Delighted to see my friend Tiffany’s baby store there too (I met her during prenatal yoga at «You and the Mat,» review also posted). They’ve created a wonderfully warm and supportive, family-​centric environment for pre and post-​natal care. Very happy to have discovered them yesterday.

I have received such wonderful care from my midwife Lindsey Meehleis, and her assistants. I’ve been seeing Lindsey for almost 1 ½ years straight because we hired her for a previous pregnancy that ended in miscarriage, and then I got pregnant shortly thereafter with my son (who is now about 5 days old!!)
I was instantly drawn to Lindsey’s bright, sweet spirit and her in-​depth knowledge and respect for childbirth. She is also on the paleo diet, and recommends it for her clients, so I felt like we were totally on the same page as far as nutrition, which is really important. She just has a love for people and a love for life, and it’s really contagious.
When my previous pregnancy ended in miscarriage at about 11 weeks, Lindsey was helpful, compassionate, and encouraging. She continued to see me every few weeks after the miscarriage to make sure I was healing well. I was a wreck and in total shock, but she gave me hope that I’d get pregnant soon. She also encouraged me that while having a «natural miscarriage» (no d and c procedure) would be difficult, it would also be empowering. she was right.
As soon as I got pregnant again a few months later, we called Lindsey and started the whole process all over again. She was always professional and thorough, but at the same time really relaxed. She doesn’t get alarmed over small things and turn them into emergencies like I’ve seen so often with my friends’ doctors. I’m a type A sorta anxious type, and her relaxed energy was so good for me. It kept me calm and centered throughout this pregnancy.
On the day of the birth, my labor moved so quickly that she almost didn’t get here on time. Once she did get here, she was a calming presence. She delivered our little one with gentleness and skill. She has continued to text, call and stop by often after the baby was born. I love the fact that she and her assistants have been coming to me, and making these postnatal appointments as pleasant and stress-​free as possible.
Once again, what a wonderful woman and a wonderful group of professionals. I feel really blessed to have found them.

There is a reason why Lindsey is so sought after as a midwife. She is full of knowledge and experience. She brings comfort and provides you with confidence throughout your pregnancy. As a person, she is warm and kind-​hearted. In her field, she is professional and skilled. I truly believe Lindsey possesses a gift in what she does, that goes beyond practice. I highly recommend her and I will not hesitate to have her as my midwife again for my second pregnancy :)

Lindsey pretty much changed our lives.
After a horrible first hospital birth experience ending in a heart breaking cesarean, we knew we needed someone who was a warrior. I needed someone who was confident, skilled and able to reasure my husband who was not originally on-​board with a natural birth.
I found Lindsey online and immediately interviewed her when we got pregnant. I knew immediately that I wouldn’t give birth with anyone but her. She stuck by us, even when we miscarried once and then again. She was instrumental in getting us where we needed to be to heal my body so that we could finally get pregnant with a healthy little love.
She was a dream during pregnancy, a best friend and a cheerleader the whole way through. In labor, she was a total peace-​bringer and source of strength for me. She is incredibly skilled medically, but is also very intuitive and wise when it comes to decision making. Our birth was harder on me than I imagined but she never let me down and led the way through our 41 hour labor and HBAC (home birth after cesarean), welcoming our beautiful long-​awaited daughter.
People always ask me if I was scared: our labor was long, our birth was messy and my body started going into shock after we delivered. Honestly, I never for a moment had to fear because Lindsey was ON-​POINT. She knew exactly what to do and never put me or our baby at risk in her decisions. She was a step ahead the whole time and, even when the going got tough, she never wavered. I was perfectly safe and taken care of, because I had her by my side.
I would never even consider delivering with anyone else, if I had to do it over. Lindsey is God’s gift to the natural birth world. Truly.

Lindsey is such an amazing midwife.
I recently moved to California and was very unsure of going with a different midwife I had with my first 2 children! The minute I walked into OC Midwifery and met with Lindsey I fell in love. She has everything you are looking for in a midwife. She is kind, caring, confident and very clear with you. She was born to be a midwife; it isn’t a job to her it’s her life:) and you feel it. For a mother entrusting someone like this, she is a hero in my eyes. Oh and believe me my birth wasn’t a text book birth… She knew exactly how to deal with each complication that arose. She is truly an amazing woman.

I had my second birth at home attended by Lindsey meehleis and it was great. Lindsey’s prenatal care was a refreshing change from the typical ob waiting room, pee, drop your pants no time to talk business. She was very interested in my needs and concerns. At my birth she was able to deal very perfectly with some unexpected circumstances and patiently provided suggestions and confidently helped my birthing time be productive and rewarding. After my daughter’s birth Lindsey’s support continued while I worked through nursing challenges.
I will use Lindsey again and can’t recco mend her enough.

I wish there were more stars I could leave for our midwife, Lindsey M, the best midwife I could have hoped for during my pregnancy and birth of my first child. The prenatal care I received from Lindsey was gentle, holistic, and encouraging. She is extremely knowledgable, not just in prenatal care, but in the subject of overall health and well-​being, and she is more than willing to share her expertise with her clients so that they can enjoy pregnancy and birth the way it was meant to be enjoyed; as a powerful, natural, miraculous, and empowering phase in a woman’s life.
My labor progressed rapidly and my daughter was actually born before Lindsey arrived. However, she was able to confidently coach my dear (probably terrified), sweet husband, in the fine art of baby catching as she sped down the highway to us, and was talking him through it to the very moment he dropped the phone to catch our daughter as she «came flying out».
My true appreciation for Lindsey, however really began after Maylas birth. She arrived shortly after and went right to work checking the health of my baby and then lovingly caring for my stunned lady parts as baby and I bonded. I cannot stress enough the value of the postpartum care I received from Lindsey. Her genuine attentiveness is something I have never known to be replicated at a hospital and lasted for weeks.
Aside from the standard postpartum home visits, Lindsey would kindly check in with me on random days just to see how I was doing as a new mother. Let me tell you, there were days when she was truly a lifesaver, easing mine and my husbands minds as we navigated the emotional beginnings of parenthood. Even over a year later, I still seek Lindsey’s council in many thing health and baby related. She is a gem of a human being, a godsend of a midwife, and the woman I hope will be able to attend any and all of my future pregnancies and home births.
I feel truly grateful to have had the pregnancy and birth experience I did. Lindsey played a HUGE role in making it happen. She could not have made the transition into motherhood more enjoyable. Reader, if you are considering a home birth, and I assume you are, I want to say good for you, as well as thank you! You are a key player in not often talked about but vitally important movement for women everywhere to reclaim their bodies and their children’s births. With Lindsey’s expertise, and compassionate support, you will safely experience the sacredness of womanhood through the most awe-​inspiring event possible; the growth and birth of your perfect baby. My experience was nothing short of amazing with my midwife Lindsey! From our pre-​natal care to birth she made me feel comfortable and the strong woman that I am. My husband is a first time dad but he felt so safe and assured in our birth process he can’t wait to have another baby in the comfort of our home again! After two hospital births, I knew I wanted a home birth for my last child. I was referred to Lindsey and I must say that my prenatal care and birth experience with her as my midwife were everything I envisioned for myself and my baby. Because of Lindsey and her extensive knowledge and expertise, I had a beautiful water birth at home with no interventions or complications.
Lindsey was always available if I had questions or concerns and my appointments did not feel medical at all. There is even a space for siblings to busy themselves while she sees clients. Lindsey treats all her clients as friends and that feeling permeates every aspect of her care, both pre– and post-​natal.
I am a child birth educator and doula and I can’t recommend Lindsey and the staff and friends at OC Midwifery enough. I only wish I had sought her out for my first two births! I plan to continue my well-​woman care with her too.

This is one powerful and amazing group of women. We had Lindsey M. attend our birth as a midwife, we could not have been blessed with a better midwife. During our birth she was exactly what I needed when I needed it. I truly feel that birthing in our home with a midwife that empowered me to feel safe in my bodies ability to birth naturally; and that we trusted completely is the reason that as a first time mom I was able to have such a quick peaceful birth.
Not Only did Lindsey set the stage for our birth to be as wonderful and peaceful as it was, she has been the for us afterwards as well. You are not just getting a midwife when you hire Lindsey, you are getting a guide for your journey.

Lindsey is wonderful and although I was unable to deliver at home (our baby was born early), I found that the prenatal/​well-​woman care was incredibly thorough and pleasant. Lindsey was always careful to address my concerns and happy, it seemed, to indulge in my curiosity. I particularly enjoyed (and will forever appreciate) the education that was provided throughout the process.
I very firmly believe that because of Lindsey, I was able to deliver our daughter safely in the hospital. It was a magical day!
Thank you, Lindsey for being present, for protecting/​preserving the natural process of birth and for being my advocate when I needed one most!

I have received my prenatal care here and I am so bummed that we are moving because I love these midwives and wish I could have them at my birth. Everyone is so knowledgeable and helpful! I have worked mostly with Ruth and Brooke and both of them are amazing. I felt completely comfortable at all times and no one ever pushed anything on me. It was wonderful to have my opinion and wishes acknowledged and respected. Anyone I talked to on the phone was always helpful and bent over backwards to help me. Also I never waited once for an appointment, I came in and went right back every single time. The classes and lending library was also most helpful. Overall I can’t say enough good things about this place and everyone I interacted with.

Before meeting Lindsey, I had already had two children with my previous wife. While those two human beings are the joy and focus of my life, the experience of bringing them into the world was … institutional. The hospital system was professional and efficient. I don’t think our second c-​section was a good idea in hind sight, but the system did it’s job.
Those experiences were perfectly similar to minor surgeries that I have had. Stressful, designed completely to support the hospital system (meaning all efforts necessary to avoid unpleasant law suits) and entirely out of our control. That is all fine and easily endurable for a shattered finger, but sadly lacking for bringing a new life into the world.
When we met Lindsey in her midwifery office I had an epiphany. This was obviously what a baby making office should be about. It seemed clear that every woman in the building (and there were only women in the building) had either had children recently or was pregnant, including the midwives. The midwives were remarkably knowledgable and took charge in a beautifully feminine way.
I love femininity for many reasons, but in this circumstance, it means that these wonderfully strong women communicated with my wife in a way that brought her joy and comfort. At the same time they gave me enough attention to make it clear that I was respected and that my participation would be called for when and if necessary (generally not at all). This wasn’t insulting, it was invigorating.
Put it this way, when your wife is pregnant, you want to take her into an office that is filled with women. Women who have helped other women with hundreds and hundreds of births. Women who have been pregnant. Women who have had children. Women who take charge in circumstances where they’re clearly supposed to be in charge. Women who absolutely love everything about pregnancy, birthing and babies. It’s a beautiful thing.
I am not the type of person who would choose to risk safety for the sake of some organic experience. To the contrary, it’s clear to me that the midwife method is better for everyone involved (including fathers). I’m not going to go into the medical ups and downs here. If you’re concerned, you should do your own research. I did, and I found that midwifery is simply common sense. From my research I don’t doubt that this experience is better than a hospital for baby and mom, unless surgery is necessary — in which case you simply go to the hospital. In addition to the health benefits, the emotional advantages are clear and amazing.
My wife met with Lindsey six or eight times before my son was born. The night before he was born my wife had a few contractions. Lindsey sent an another licensed midwife to our home who checked her and our son, including his heartbeat. All being fine, she concluded that we would probably need Lindsey the next morning. She was correct and by the time my wife woke me up at about 4:30 in the morning, Lindsey was on her way.
When she arrived, she took charge in a remarkably quiet and relaxing way. Our bedroom became a very zen place filled with whispering and comforting music. I was quietly given a few simple tasks consistent with my being a nearly useless male accessory (again, this is good thing) — filling the tub, putting a plastic sheet on the bed, minding the music (actually the music was my wife’s idea, I chose Bach cello pieces — which turned out very well). Since she came with assistants, these tasks might have been for my own benefit, but either way they were effective.
The experience from that point was one of the most beautiful and deeply personal experiences that I have ever had. My wife experienced a remarkably smooth and truly joyful labor and birth. I was privileged to be an active part of it.
This was not a hospital experience. It was not controlled by rules born out of fear of lawsuits. There were no florescent lights, no forms to sign. There were no mandatory instructions to follow, no long ugly hallways to pace and no waiting. No waiting for completely unknown reasons. No waiting for doctors or nurses or other patients or bureaucracy. None. Incredible. Our newborn son was never taken from our arms, we never left our home.
This most profound of life moments was ours. I participated in the actual, physical birth of my son. I was there, touching him, when he emerged for the first time into the world. Our family was there in our house and we called them in when we were ready. It really was everything you imagine a birth to be. For every person in our home, this was the exciting, wild and magical beginning of a relationship with a little creature who isn’t even sure who we are yet … wow.

P. S. Our son seems remarkably at peace. He eats, he sleeps and he poops with hardly a whimper. I don’t know if this is because of the peaceful way he came into the world, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Lindsey Meehleis. She is as knowledgeable and caring as she is professional and innovative. I felt completely nurtured with her in both the prenatal visits and at our home birth. She and her team of midwives (and my doula) kept me going through three days of labor. They helped me in ways that I can’t find words for, but my gratitude will be everlasting.
Even when we determined that it was time to go to the hospital (I unknowingly had a prominent sacrum. Undetectable even by the surgeon in my first C-​section), Lindsey was right there with me to talk to the nurses and doctors. She was my advocate and friend and didn’t let the staff make us feel bad for trying an HBAC. She came to the hospital and my home to check up on me and the baby.
I recommend Lindsey to everyone I meet. She is what I hope the future of all childbirth will be. I wish that every woman could have the option to be cared for by a midwife such as Lindsey because we need peace and choice back in our birthing experiences.
