Checkered Flag Hand Car Wash & Detail Services

I miss the old Beacon Bay car wash and am so done with this place. They claim that they can wash your car in ten minutes but their Starting Line is so inefficient that it takes 10 minutes just to get started. The finish line is always understaffed so it takes forever and the workers are rushing so the quality suffers and I never see any supervision trying to make it better. All this with prices much higher then Beacon Bay ever charged. My recommendation, find another car wash.

The car wash is conveniently located near my work and the service and job is acceptable, its definitely not a 5 diamond wash but you get what you pay for. Most of the time I leave satisfied so long as I do the walk around and point out areas that I would like redone, the workers never gave me a hard time about it. They tend to miss spots on the car, bugs on the bumper and vacuuming the seats, but if i notice it, i simply tell them and they clean it no problem. I also throw away trash and lift the carpet mats up so they can vacuum underneath and do a more thorough job.

Real simple – I deducted two stars for being ridiculously understaffed at lunchtime on a sunny Friday. Then I deducted two more stars for consistently not doing even an average job on the wheel rims. Beware.

I’ve been to Checkered Flag multiple times and have always been satisfied with the service … Until today. I took my car in and paid for the standard car wash.
When done, I got in my car and took off without checking to make sure everything was clean. About an hour later, I looked in the backseat and it was COVERED in dog hair (just took my dog for a hike — hence the car wash).
I went right back and got to Checkered Flag at 6:04pm — there were still cars being services when I got there– but they wouldn’t do a quick vacuum since they closed at 6pm.
I definitely made a mistake not checking the car over but I was really disappointed they wouldn’t take a few minutes to correct the issue.

I have to give it one star. It is a car wash, and the car did not leave clean. I had to ague with the guy to clean the wheels at all! At first he actually pretended not to hear me or understand me, wouldn’t look at me and wiped off my keys. I had to yell, look at me! Look at me! Then he pouted and went to the driver front wheel and wiped it ones and walked off. I yelled, «It is not clean!» He said, «It won’t come off!» I reached down and wiped some off with my thumb! «Clean me wheels!»
Another employee started to work on the passenger side. He to left dirt, that I told him would come off. He wiped his thumb, it didn’t come off because he wasn’t using soap. I told his to get soap and he did and still did a bad job!
I couldn’t keep up with both of them just messing stuff up.
They also left dirt smudges on the car from their dirty hands and rags, water marks on the mirrors and on the interior door sills. They didn’t vacuum the back at all, despite opening it and putting the hose in there, they just faked it!
Eventually I had to go. I got my keys off the cart. You could tell they didn’t vcare. They didn’t ask for the receipt, normally when they’d get a tip. They just walked off to the next car without a thank you! But, no tip for sure anyway.
The place is clean, great show room and all that. .. but they cannot wash a car! Seriously they just suck!

I wish I would have read all these reviews BEFORE i took my SUV here.
This was the first time here and all I can say is that I’m very disappointed and will not be coming back.
You think when you pay $ 26 for a wash they’d do a ‘decent’ job at least, but noooo.
I guess I should have done a walk-​around BEFORE I left.
All 4 wheels look like they were hardly touched.

What happened? This used to be the best car wash in town. Not any more! Paid for the luxury wash and I don’t usually inspect my car when I take it to this wash because they do such a good job. Martin, Jorge and Pedro (they provided their names on the promo card) did a lousy job, such a bummer ‘cuz I thought these guys were the real deal.

Heard many good things about this car wash! So I thought I would give it a try. I was impressed with how fast they were but the attention to detail was below par! Don’t want to list everything. Just won’t be returning again!!!

I’ve been here twice now. Service is quick and felt my car was treated with care. The price is a bit on the high side for a basic wash, but I have added tire dressing each time. Not really comfortable with a spray on wax, so I don’t upgrade. I do watch my car through the process and it is handled with care. If they did a little better job on the basic wash (water spots and streaks), I might be willing to try a full detail, but the confidence is just not there. Figuring out their discounts is difficult not knowing what days they accept it or not. I’ll keep with the punch card and see how that works.

I’ve come to this car wash consistently since they reopened. At first opening the service was great. Super friendly and they did a pretty good job. Lately tho the service has gone way down hill. In fact today I turned around and left because of the greeting (or lack there of). John was extremely unfriendly and was confusing by not letting me know where to stop my car. When I asked him if I should pull up he said. «What do you need?» I needed to leave because his attitude was so bad there was no way I was going to pay 40 $ for a carwash again.
The indoor area is very clean and the greeting cards are good. Bathroom is clean. But the first person you see is John and frankly I’d rather wash my own car then be treated the way he did. And I called to complain but got voicemail. No one has responded yet. I assume they don’t care about customer service.
If you don’t mind being treated like crap while paying top $ for a carwash this is the place to go. If a smile and kind word are what you’re looking for look anywhere else.

Service has been spot on and they’ve always done a great job on my cars. Really appreciate them caring for my car like I do. Thanks!

I would of given this place 4 stars but they not honor it even though I showed the lady at the register. I didn’t see the difference in my receipt.

**Rip-​Off Alert**
I paid $ 40 for a horrible car wash. There are places charging $ 10 for the same service. No joke. a drive through car wash and self vacuum would be better.
They also charge extra for no additional services. Dog hair not vacuumed, Windows with dirt streaks, and spots of dirt all over the car. They only shined half of my tires.literally.how do you get down there and only do half the tire?
On top of the rip off car wash, the guy taking the car wash order was rude and came off like he was hustling me…

Unilocal 100 Challenge 2016 — Review 7 of 100…
My plan was to simply never return to this «car wash» again… just let the streaks and handprint on my window slide… ignore the fact that they probably didn’t vacuum the back of my car (which was pretty clean) except for making the marks on my mats… and I would not write a review…
The only reason I came in the first place is because it was the closest to work and I need a clean car tonight because I’m my friend’s designated driver as a birthday gift. When I searched for car washes by my current location (work) in Unilocal,the only establishments that had more than three stars (and that rating was pretty generous!) were those for detailing. I didn’t have time for that. The car wash near my house is temporarily closed and I waited until the last minute. So I tried this place…
I can get a bomb wash by my house for $ 14 with tire dressing. I’m in OC so I figured I’d pay more. When I approached the wash menu, I saw the least expensive costs $ 17 — and they had the nerve to «brag» that this option only takes ten minutes. I want more time spent on my car than that. I forgot the cost of the next level up but it basically included tire dressing. I asked the (not very friendly) attendant what the 30 day something or other protection was. He explained and said it was like a wax and that it would take the same amount of time that a regular wash would to complete. Thinking about it now, how is that the case? How would it take the same amount of time for a regular car wash and a car wash with a wax. Oh — they probably didn’t apply it! But I digress… $ 25.99. Fine — I get two dollars off with my Unilocal check in…
The store that houses the cashier here is the best part about this place. It’s clean and has a large selection of greeting cards, candy, air fresheners, etc. I grab an air freshener and pay a total of $ 26 or so. And now that I think about it, I didn’t get a receipt, only the claim check. Fine again — I paid with cash…
I got in the car and saw vacuum marks on my mats and drive away. Right away I notice streaks on my window and a large hand print. Okay, whatever — I need to get back to the office…
I park and head to the front passenger seat to grab my belongings — they didn’t even wipe the door seal! I don’t know if that is what it’s called but look at the pictures… It wasn’t even wet! I decide to look at the back door seal /​bottom plate whatever it is — the same!
And that’s how this review was born…

Drove over to get the car washed and cleaned, now the no-​touch wash seemed to do a good job, but the line staff is where it fell short-​Very short. One guy in a red shirt walked over and very lazily wiped a spot or two then just strolled away.
Then after about 5 minutes the car was descended upon my two black shirt guys, one hard working the other lazy. While one wiped and dressed the tires the other attempted to vacuum the car out and didn’t bother with the passenger side until I said something and kind of complained that I was making him do it.
(I’m only watching you…)
The guy in the red shirt wandered back over and picked up a rag making it look like he was doing something.
I tipped the hard working guy and complimented him, while the guy in the red shirt stood there with his hand out.
Machinery wise they do a good job, but spend over $ 30 and I expect more service on the line.
Short of it is– some lazy employees that need to be watched like a hawk.

Not happy about the management that runs this place. They consistently put out a coupon that says «$ 3.00 off ANY wash» on Sunday, and every time we show up on Sunday, they would ring you up with $ 2 off. I’m pretty sure they’re taking advantage of people who overlook this. When we ask about it, we are told the discount is $ 2 and they’ve changed the discount amount since the coupon was distributed, even though the coupon hasn’t expired. This has been happening for months.
Check your totals, people. Don’t get taken advantage of.

I have never ever been to a car wash place as clean and comfortable as this one! The women’s restroom is spotless and beautifully decorated, especially for a car wash place. They have a great amount of nick nacks that you can look thru if you have a last minute present you have to get someone. They provide complimentary coffee and wifi and the coffee counter, spotless and have varieties of creamers and diff types of coffees to choose from.
Waiting area has some comfy patio furniture and tables. Outside area is also clean!
Getting to the car wash itself. did a great job outside, could do a better job on the inside with vacuuming and wiping down the dash. I got the super clean car wash priced at $ 20.99 with a $ 2 off coupon if you check in on Unilocal.
I gave it 5 stars for the look and feel of the overall store and 4 stars for the car wash itself because of the vacuuming and wiping down the dash, they could’ve done a bit better job.
I will be coming here again since it is right down the street from my house!!!

Came here for the early bird special they posted here, this morning at 10 but was told its now void on Fridays so its regular price. UPDATE UR SPECIALS INFO regularly! So I paid 18 for the Super pack including 2 $ Unilocal check in! They suck! They half way vacuumed & DID NOT bother cleaning my cup holders which i paid for! I sent it back so hopefully they do it right this time! If they thought I’d just count a loss they’d betta think again I’m here for clean biiiish!
Update 5mins later… Joel comes back with my keys & says I cleaned out the cup holders for u! Check pic out tho! He didn’t then proceeds to tell me after I kindly ask why they half do the job he says he «thinks» its cuz ppl are more concerned about a fast job rather than a clean job. –_​_​_​_​–

Great little car wash with friendly staff and fast service. I’ve been here about 20 times now and they always do a great job.
There’s free coffee in the lobby too !

I would give this 5 stars, because their service is great, they have a cool gift shop and the counter person is very friendly and helpful, BUT, I feel the rates are slightly higher than necessary. I’d go more often if the washes were a couple of bucks less.
They have good deals, which I always take advantage of, including $ 2 off coupons that I get on the back of my Ralph’s receipt, $ 2 off on every Sunday (can’t combine with coupon) and they offer a senior citizen discount that you must request — not sure what this is as I’m not yet a senior citizen, but I’ll take advantage of it the day I am (are you getting the idea that I love a discount? Yep, that’s me, for sure!)
