Hertz Rent A Car

It was a struggle from the start. Should have read this review before I chose this rental car company. Price & availability changed in 1 day for same size rental going from $ 27-​$ 45 dollars per day. When I picked up vehicle I let the guy know I would be returning car between 5 – 7 pm the next day. He did not mention they close at 5pm or give me any instructions on what to do if they are closed. The office was located in the basement of a hotel & when I went to return the car a note on the door stated «If returning a vehicle after business hours please place keys in drop box at front desk of hotel». I then went back upstairs to drop keys & the helpful hotel staff showed me where the box was located. I left to return home & put receipt away & noticed at the bottom the «hertz express return» statement stating if returning a vehicle after hours to return keys to drop box with the form attached & filled out. If form was not filled out & returned with keys the charges would continue to accrue until the location reopened. I made several attempts to call & get it noted that I had returned the car only to be told it was fine the way I did it. Hopefully this won’t end up being a major battle trying to get their extra charges refunded. What a hassle! The only good thing that happened during my experience is that they didn’t have the car available that I booked so had to upgrade me for free.

Sadly someone hit my full size car and I needed a repair, and had to use Hertz, in Lake Elmo/​Woodbury, MN. They picked me up from repair shop. I had a broken leg, but yet they did not offer to help me move items, including a car seat, from my car to the very small car they picked me up in. When he dropped me off I retrieved my items, including car seat, from car — he didn’t say a word. They then bring me back to the same tiny car. (in case you missed it, there was no need for me to retrieve car seat and gym bag from the tiny car. Horrid customer service. Horrid car.
