Del-​Bar is an award-​winning, casual fine dining restaurant located in Lake Delton. We take immense pride in our Prime grade, custom-​aged steaks and superb customer service. Additionally, some of our most popular dishes include pan fried walleye, wild caught jumbo shrimp, beautiful king crab legs, and lobster tail. Also consider trying our delicious ahi tuna, oysters on the half shell, steamed mussels, and naturally aged, antibiotic-​free chicken. We boast a passionate and fairly priced wine list, a full bar, and local Wisconsin craft beers on tap.

Here at Del-​Bar we offer a beautiful cocktail lounge and spacious, contemporary dining rooms. Del-​Bar was established in 1943 as a Roadside Steakhouse by Jim and Alice Wimmer, and today is still family-​owned and operated by Jeff and Jane Wimmer. Eating at Del-​Bar is an experience where you’ll be dining in a building that is considered living art by many. The «Prairie style» ambiance, renovations, and expansions are by James Dresser, a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright. History

Established in 1943.

Against a wide variety of recreational activities and hotels lining this bustling Wisconsin Dells thoroughfare, it’s hard to imagine a time when the Del-​Bar stood out as a lone sentry. Nor is it any easier to comprehend just how humble a beginning this popular restaurant — which today serves as many as 500 people nightly — enjoyed when it opened in the late 1930’s. That’s when two local gentlemen bought and converted a log cabin, with room for only six tables, into a small roadhouse specializing in char-​broiled steaks. Because it was located between Wisconsin Dells and Baraboo, the name Del-​Bar was chosen. When WWII began and business fell off, the owners lost interest. «Jimmy» Wimmer, a former University of Wisconsin football quarterback who grew up in the rural part of the Dells called Badger Valley, was eager to take over. Today, it’s still owned and operated by Jeff and Jane Wimmer.

Jane Wimmer has been in the restaurant industry for over thirty years. Jane’s parents owned and operated Del-​Bar before her, and the popular restaurant was passed down to her. Jane enjoys being able to serve the public at Del-​Bar where delicious food and quality service are the driving force of the business.
