Duchenes’ Bar and Grill

Amazing!!! Late breakfast, home cooked, fresh squeezed orange juice LARGE mimosas… Great service and great atmosphere:) clean, friendly, delicious …

Ummm… not really sure where to start. Walked in to pool tables and an unattended bar. Looked around, waited… saw the waitress (only one) and asked if they were still serving food. Hours listed are not accurate. We came on Monday at the same time and they were completely closed. Hours listed til 9pm but they still served us food at 9:15 and are still open at 10pm on a Tuesday.
Positive: the place is clean and new. Beer was cold.
We were told to sit anywhere but I guess we should have sat at a high top because the bench seating tables were too small and wobbly.
I was craving raw oysters and I heard they served them. $ 16 per dozen.
We also ordered the app sampler $ 6.99 (3 cheese stix, 3 poppers, 3 fried pickles and also entrée of 4 beef sliders with fries ($ 7 something I think).
Sliders and fries were okay, nothing special. App sampler was okay but was only served with marinara so I asked for ranch as well.
I had to ask for napkins, silverware and condiments. Silverware was tiny plastic wrapped takeout fork and spoon.
Oysters were… less than stellar. They were not shucked completely. They were not cold or served on ice. I had to ask for garnishes.
We had to wait quite awhile for food.
Overall, not terrible if you want fried bar food, beer and pool tables but we probably won’t return.

Second time we’ve been in! This time we tried the breakfast bar, which was yummy! We will be coming back for a third time! My kids love bacon, lol.

The best breakfast in Lake City. After several breakfast visits I went for lunch… great burger and hand cut fries.

Went to lunch and ordered a BLT. Chicken was over, rubbery, and tasted bitter from the grill. Toast was also burnt. Waitress was extremely nice and attended to our every need. Had to get a coke after I left to wash the taste of carbon out of my mouth though, so very disappointed.

The restaurant looks nice, but the compliments end there. Ordered breakfast here and the omelette was awful. Don’t bother informing them because the owner is a very angry passive aggressive man. Instead of listening to customers and improving, he attacks customers. Will never return.

I have been her a few times and two different experiences.
First time the breakfast was outstanding.
Second time was for dinner. I had the roast beef sub and could only eat a quarter of it. It had the hard piece of stringy fat or something. You couldn’t chew through it, I tried I finally said enough is enough. My wife and kids had a burger which they enjoyed. I was disappointed why nobody ask why I was leaving three quarters of a sub.
Last but certainty least. My food was delivered fast, burgers were hot. The owner is there and he and his staff are very friendly.
This place makes great desserts. I will try again and see what my experience is, hopefully more like the first.

Had a ribeye steak last night which was excellent, with French fries, and huge side salad and a corn muffin. Overall place is very clean and well kept, wait staff were attentive and nice. Prices were well within reason.

My son and I decide to try this restaurant out for first time on Sunday. We went for breakfast. It was no doubt the best breakfast in lake city in a long time (that includes from cracker barrel). I am very picky about my eggs so that is a little test for any place. I ordered a western omelet with the eggs cooked well done. Not only were the eggs cooked to my liking (the first time) but also not drier out. It was wonderful. The breakfast potatoes were amazing with the right amount on onion and bell pepper.
My 22 year old son ordered the pancake. He said they tasted like home made not something frozen like a lot of place. He couldn’t finished them all (that is why I mentioned his age… you don’t fill up a 22 year old college student often).
Had to wait on the hostess a little longer than I would have like but our waiter was amazing.
Can’t wait for another breakfast date!

I wanted to see if everything I had read on Facebook was true about this place. Sadly I have to agree with most of the critics. I was seated and waited 45 minutes for my meal. The server rarely showed up and I was given the impression that they hated working here. The food was cold. I wanted to nuke it in a microwave. The silverware had to be replaced because it wasn’t clean and still had food stuck on it. The outside of the establishment is very nice but I wish I could say the same about the staff.

I went here for breakfast, the prices were reasonable and the place was nicely remodeled.
I did notice they were still working on getting into the swing of thing but, I believe they will get it down pat.

My friends and I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the Duchenes’ for months.
The amount of work they put into the building and parking lot has been fantastic!
That said, they apparently forgot about the most important aspect of a successful restaurant — the food.
My friend, his wife, their two teenagers and I met just after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to eat lunch together.
After perusing the enormous menu for a few minutes, we placed our order.
I ordered the jumbo shrimp (fried) with green beans and chili as the two sides, and the meal included hushpuppies.
You can see what was delivered to me after a 1 HOUR wait.
All of our drinks were watery by that time and I had to ask for my diet Pepsi to be refreshed.
After eating just two of the shrimp and a bite of the green beans, I just stopped.
Near the end, the waitress asked how everything was and I had to tell her the bad news. She returned with a manager and she asked me about the dish.
I explained the shrimp were extremely over cooked and not edible, and asked if she would like to try one. She politely refused saying she didn’t want to eat my food, but neither did I!
It was taken away and I didn’t pay for it, but they did charge me for the diet soda. Two of my friends also had issues with their food but they were not comped or discounted, just given excuses as to why everything took an hour to cook.
Here is a video of the elasticity of the shrimp. I’m not a gourmet chef but I’m pretty sure fried shrimp should NOT snap back like a piece of rubber.

Finally, there were NO hushpuppies on the plate, nor was there any sauce.

Had a terrible experience for breakfast. Had to wait over an hour for eggs and pancakes. Wait staff were very inattentive and manager was very rude. A simple breakfast should not cost more than 15.00 especially in these parts. They also forgot to tell us when we sat down that their credit card machine was down. So we ate breakfast and had no way to pay without a debit card. The manager expected me to leave my account info with her… sure right.
The owners response to negative feedback on Facebook is a train wreck. He should really focus on his business, such as maybe posting photos of his food, bakery items maybe possibly the menu. But he is so focused on responding passive aggressively to people. Be strong sir, work for your business, not against. Will not be going back, for fear the owner will bite our heads off if there is an issue.
