LuLu’s Frozen Delights

Stopped in here after dinner at Maevery.
The frozen yogurt was excellent and they had some fun flavors.
They do not, despite the large coffee machine behind the counter, serve coffee, and I was disappointed.
The store was also busy at 6:30 at night on a Saturday with kids running in and out yelling.
The yogurt was good but I wouldn’t eat it in the store again. It was too much like trying to eat yogurt in a middle school cafeteria.

I went here quite a few times over the summer. I brought the kids I babysit here for an afternoon treat many times.
The frozen yogurt is great, I really liked the consistency of it. It wasn’t too soft, which is a problem for me with other froyo places. They had a ton of fun flavors to choose from.
It’s really only over-​priced if you fill the cups excessively, you probably don’t need ¾’s of a pint of froyo in one sitting. I paid around $ 12 for froyo for myself and two kids.
My qualms with Lulu’s:
Their toppings bar is pretty limited.
I’ve had multiple bad experiences with the person behind the counter.
The first time I went, the woman was on a personal phone call for the duration of my visit. She even rung me up while making dinner plans with the person on the phone. Horrible customer service. I can understand if you’re on the phone with a client or customer and you ring me up, but really? Dinner plans? Come on.
The other time I went, the kids wanted to try some samples, the person behind the counter gave them a hard time when they wanted two sample cups each. I didn’t think that wanting to sample two different flavors was an excessive request. Especially because they were clearly accompanied by someone who was going to make a purchase and not some kids who just wanted a free treat.
I’m very lukewarm on this place just because of their customer service.

I enjoyed the ambience as well as the frozen yogurt as it introduced me to the combinations. Friendly and courteous service…

Really decent froyo place… my first experience there was a little awkward, as the husband and I stopped in during a bike ride, and, never having been there before, were expecting a traditional ice cream parlor, for some reason. It just seemed like the sort of thing Lake Bluff’s downtown would have, and the name seemed like it might be a standard ice cream shop. I’ve been to more than my share of wall-​dispenser fro-​yo chains with the topping bar and weighing what you self-​served, it’s not a new concept to me. I was just confused because walking in, I hadn’t been aware that that’s what LuLu’s Frozen Delights was. I love froyo, it wasn’t a problem.
I was startled to see that other reviews mentioned awkward interactions with the person behind the counter, because we experienced that, too… it wasn’t BAD, just awkward. The cups are down at the far end of the dispensers, and in a deeply recessed portion of the wall, i.e. not very visible until you get to the end of the dispensers. We were initially confused about where the cups were, and the girl behind the counter kind of watched us for a little bit, and then asked us «if we’d ever been to a frozen yogurt place before.» Um, yes, we have, thanks… now where do you keep the cups? The whole process was a tad more confusing/​nonstraightforward than places like that usually are. Kind of a headscratcher, there.
Initially minor offputtingness aside, the yogurt was delicious (I’m another who generally always eschews exotic flavors, preferring plain tart, usually topped with fruit and berries). The topping bar is not too extensive, as these places go, but the fruit and berries were huge, fresh, perfectly ripe, not mushed or bruised, and delicious. Prices seemed standard, as well, to me. The place advertises itself as also being a pizza parlor, but I didn’t see any pizzas. I’d go back for yogurt, though.

I am very lukewarm on Lulu’s. We have been there dozens of times. The yogurt is fine but so expensive! I sometimes wonder if they miscalculate the weight by accident. I took four people there for yogurt the other night and it was $ 35.00, outrageous– I just don’t think it’s worth the price.

Lulu’s has far and away the best flavors of any self-​serve yogurt place around. Strawberry vanilla tastes like they picked the berries that morning. Sea salt Carmel pretzel is outstanding. Peanut butter is delightful. Other yogurt places just don’t compare in quality or tastiness. The owners are friendly and prices are comparable to others in the area. Best place around if you’re looking for a tasty treat

I guess I just don’t get this place. It’s very tiny and I was expecting there to be ice cream bins I could look at. There was no explanation about the fact that it was self serve and I did not see any pizza. The two girls behind the counter just stared at me. It was very weird. I finally got a drink out of the fridge but the whole experience left me wondering why they wouldn’t want to make it easier for people to buy stuff, especially commuters in town on business.

The staff is super friendly and it has a cute cozy environment. The yogurt is amazing!

Here for spring break and stopped in with my kids for some pizza and frozen yogurt and we were not disappointed! PIzza is New York style, and, as a New Yorker, it is perfect. Just the right amount of sauce and cheese and all of us went back for more. Great spot to come with the kids for quick lunch or dinner, especially when you can stop in right next door for a quick pint at Lake Bluff Brewery, another awesome spot!

I stopped by again tonight after dinner and discovered (to my utmost pleasure) that they have shamrock mint frozen yogurt! If anyone is like me and gets super addicted to McDonald’s shamrock shake, this is a much better and hopefully healthier alternative. It tastes just the same. The new cherry-​limeade sorbet and butter pecan are also both very on point. LuLu’s still has the most amazing flavors of any frozen yogurt place I’ve tried.

Best kept secret in lake bluff!!! Love the employees and the owners! Great frozen yogurt with the best most delicious choices and toppings to go with! My boyfriend and I go here as much as we can and will continue to! I highly recommend this adorable little shop when you are craving those sweets!

This review is for my first and unfortunately my last visit to this store. $ 12 for 2 cups, definitely on the pricier side of the fro-​yo scale, but that is not the reason I would not return. They do have some interesting flavors – hence the one star.
Here is why I was peeved, although they had some tasty flavors the woman behind the counter left a bad taste in my mouth — after dropping $ 12 for some fro-​yo my daughters and I wanted to sample a flavor we did not have in our purchase — keep in mind they do not have sample/​tasting cups available in plain site — these need to be specifically requested.
Instead of being greeted with little paper cups to try a sample — I was greeted with a very standoffish question — -do you plan to purchase any more?
Hmmm If I’m trying a flavor — how do I know I even like or want it — -wait a minute I just made a purchase — but that apparently isn’t good enough — I needed to have requested a sample cup before making my purchase — -too bad no signs in sight for such a random rule — -so even if I was slightly thinking about getting some more — this was not the way to entice me to make a purchase.
She then proceeded to tell me that kids come in all the time wanting to try samples and that if she gave one sample cup out after people made purchases she would have to do it with everyone, it was something she did not want to start doing — then on with more lame excuses… well we will be retiring some flavors at the end of the night so even if your daughter tries a flavor it might not be here next time.
Not to worry there will be no next time for us. I would rather spend my money at other affordable fro-​yo places that aren’t keeping tabs on sample cups – especially if I’ve already made a purchase. My 7 and 8 year old daughters left out of the store perplexed — as did I. Why did the woman want to keep her sample cups?
Easy answer – she does not want any of our future business.
Happy she saved the store 5 cents for their sample cups and 10 cents for the samples we would’ve tried — guess there is a positive side to everything — just means I will be spending my time and money else where with my kiddies.

Probably like everyone else in the country, I have been to my fair share of fro-​yo places. At every fro-​yo pit stop, I only get one thing: tart. So with that preface in mind, I can only say one thing.
LuLu’s Italian Tart is seriously the best tart yogurt I have had from anywhere, without a doubt. Oh, their donuts and coffee are pretty amazing too.
If you’ve never been, it is definitely worth stopping by.

Ya like fro yo? Ya like a nice atmosphere? Ya like wonderful service? Well then why haven’t you been here? This little gem, located in the darling downtown area of Lake Bluff is 5 stars all the way! Mike and I usually walk from home to this place at night, it’s about 5 miles round trip, but the half way point is our favorite part for sure! They always have the most wonderful flavors out, and the place is so clean! I swear you could eat off the floors! Added bonus… well the owners are the nicest people ever and really appreciate freshness and their customers equally. At the end of the night, if you’re a lucky one… they pass out the leftover donuts that didn’t get sold, because, well, they make fresh ones every day. These are just as wonderful as the fro yo! I love this place and it is for sure my favorite fro yo shop on the North Shore!

Can’t say enough how much I love this place. Is that grammatically correct? Lulu’s is a cute little DIY frozen yogurt place in downtown LB. I think I’ve written a review about Wisma, so you can understand my love for downtown LB.
The employee’s are so friendly here, and the flavors (especially the Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel) are amazing. There are plenty of chairs to sit outside and enjoy your sweet treat.
One little story… we went to Lulu’s late one Friday or Saturday night, pretty close to closing time, and filled our cups with wonderful things. As we sat outside enjoying our dessert, a woman came outside with a tray of donuts. She said they throw them away at the end of the day and offered Ashley and I a free donut… each! Of course we said «Sure!» and «thank you very much!» Ashley took the cake donut with chocolate frosting and I grabbed the chocolate cake glazed donut… o…m…g. Donuts are very similar to Spunky Dunkers, very fresh and taste homemade.
I have a feeling we will be frequent customers of Lulu’s!

Wonderful, a tad expensive, but the Sea Salt Carmel Pretzel is the best yogurt I’ve ever tasted ANYWHERE so, as in life, you get what you pay for !! It’s well worth it… so go and enjoy !!

Great service and taste on the ice cream. I had the salted carmel pretzel which was great. It was a bit pricey though.

We thought we were walking in to a typical self-​serve frozen yogurt place, but were clearly wrong.
The menu included what look to be homemade doughnuts and pastries. There was coffee brewing. And on the day we visited, there was a nun selling baked goods at a table next to the door. I can’t make this stuff up.
We opted for frozen yogurt since that’s what we were looking for on a sunny spring afternoon. Prices were comprable to anything else in the area. You pay by the ounce so if you want something cheaper, put less in your cup. The fruit from the topping bar was awesome and obviously fresh. I’ll go back just to try the salted caramel pretzel flavored yogurt.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Lulu’s! By far the best doughnuts I have ever had! (If you are lucky enough to get there early before they are gone) Frozen yogurt is amazing. Everything is made with natural flavoring unlike other frozen yogurt places. Staff is very friendly, and know many of their customers by name. Prices are very reasonable. We are here at least once a week!
